    Chicken Tinga Burrito
    Jason P.

We found Villa Picante on Yelp while visiting the area. Thank goodness for Yelp. We can find the great spots with out taking random shots in the dark. Villa Picante is a small casual Mexican restaurant with table service and a robust takeout/delivery business. Inside is cute but not fancy. They have some accent pieces that add to the vibe. Service was terrific. I ordered the Alambre plate, shared Bistec Nachos and tried the Chicken in my son's Tinga Burrito. The Nachos were good. This is a good problem to have -- I think there was too much steak. LOL. The Guac was first rate. There was melted cheese and queso fresco. I could have used a bit less steak and more vegetables, but these were good nachos. The Alambre plate arrived like an awesome sizzling platter of fajitas with melted Oaxaca cheese over the top . It had steak, chorizo, onions, peppers. Our server (who also seemed like an owner), asked if I wanted it spicy and I said medium spicy. It was served with rice, beans and flour tortillas. This was really terrific. They nailed the spice level and the flavors were great. I loved the chorizo mixed in with the other traditional steak fajita ingredients. The flour tortillas were good. This dish exceeded my expectations. My 12 year old son is still exploring new foods, which I love, but sometimes they end up being different than he expects. He didn't love the chicken texture, but I think Villa Picante nailed the chicken and the burritos too. There was no cheap filler in the burrito. The chicken had great flavor and texture. I love Villa Picante. They have my high recommendation. I'd return if we had more time in town. 4.5 Stars

Awesome tacos! It's been a while since I felt I've been to a sit down restaurant with great taste and great value but Villa Picante Tacos is truly a hidden gem. Homemade chips and salsa to start was a great sign. These chips were still piping hot but not greasy when they reached the table and best of all, complimentary. Each taco entree were 4 to an order and every plate was yum! Birria, Bistec, Carnitas, and Shrimp, were all so delicious. The carnitas, bistec, and birria meat was all melty tender. The shrimp tacos were fresh and crisp. Homemade tortilla taco shell were lightly fried for an added crunch. Who doesn't like anything fried!? There was a slight language barrier with service staff but it was not difficult to overcome instead I took that as a great sign of authenticity. Service was attentive and quick for a made to order meal. I'd definitely be back sooner if I lived closer!

Wonderful little spot! Little bar and small dining room...needs more decor, but I like it. Great selection of beer, cocktails and appetizers! Happy hour daily, 2-6pm with beer specials! The complimentary chips and salsa were amazing...Best birria around, hands down...We had the birria tacos and the quesabirria...Sooooooo delicious! Try this hidden gem soon! (We came back again two days later for an encore and tried the Alambre plato and chorizo tacos!)

Ordered delivery and everything was still fresh, nothing was soggy by the time it got to my home. Loved all the food from here minus the empanada. Was expecting a traditional empanada with cheese and meat blended but instead of the usual ground beef it was almost like a short rib? Still very tasty but just not the usual empanada. The elote was perfect and the quesadilla was essentially like birria tacos in a quesadilla. Will be eating here again!

We found this restaurant when I was too lazy to cook dinner and wanted to eat something comforting and the food was comforting. It was fresh and felt like we were eating at someone's home. We ordered mushroom tacos - they were so good. We ordered a burrito that came along with rice and beans. Everything was perfect. The dips that came along with all the food was so delicious. We got complimentary nachos in the beginning and it felt like they had been made just for us. Salsa was also great. Hope to visit soon when I am lazy to cook again.

Still our go-to Mexican spot! They've added some new things to the menu like the ceviche tostada and empanadas, and they continue to deliver consistently good food. I recently had the enchiladas verdes for the first time and they were delicious - I personally wish the chicken had more flavor (it was just plain shredded chicken breast) but the green salsa was AMAZING. One thing to know when dining here is the food is made to order, so it can be a bit of a wait but it's worth it. Also, since the restaurant gets so many takeout orders (if you dine in you'll constantly hear the grub hub notification ding!) sometimes the service can be a bit slow - but again it's worth it! It's a very casual vibe inside, no frills and very laid back.

Really glad we tried Loco Garibaldi, as opposed to some of the other restaurants on Main St. it's a small place, maybe 6 tables and one on the sidewalk. The menu is on a tablet, there's a QR menu as well. I couldn't help but overhear a conversation the owner was having with another customer; he started as a dishwasher in another restaurant and worked his way up to where he could open his own place. The food was well prepared and not overly spicy. The rice was fresh and the beans complimented the rest of the meal. Tried the chicken enchiladas in green sauce. Inside the tortillas it was filled with shredded white meat chicken. The entree was excellent. Instead of a beer I tried the Jamaica water. I've had it in Mexico, where it's a refreshing change. It comes in a pitcher, be prepared it's enough for 3 people. Not expensive, nor pretentious. There's limited street parking. I will come back.

But if you go further to the back, you'll find an awesome window were you see a griddle and a counter full of delicious looking taco ingredients. All the hand written signs are in Spanish. Not a word of English spoken. This is Mexican food for the Mexican population of Wappinger Falls. Tacos, on a corn tortilla, with meat, onions and cilantro. Finally, proper tacos for my Mexican food deprived mouth. I had just eaten dinner, but decided on a taco con carnitas y un taco con chorizo. Jesus, it was almost as if I was back in Highland Park, Los Angeles. Moist, fall apart in your mouth carnitas. No weird, hard chunks of gristle. A perfect balance between fat and meat. The chorizo was pretty standard for LA, nothing too exciting, but spicy and pretty goddamn epic for this side of the country. The salsa roja was smokey, spicy and delicious. Damn. I'm still thinking about these tacos. For me, they lack some crucial elements: no carne asada, no al pastor and no radishes served with the tacos. But they serve lengua. And have awesome salsa. And it's authentic, which means a lot to me for tacos in upstate New York. So yeah, if I lived near here I'd become a fat mess REAL quick because these tacos can complete with LA. Seriously.

We received an email, that they would be doing a soft opening November 1st. We were really looking forward to a Spanish meal! When we arrived, the place was packed! Usually, a positive sign. Apparently, we weren't the only ones, that received the E-mail. We let the bartender know that we had a reservation, the answer was pretty much; see if you can find a seat. First off - they should change the name from Flores Tapas to Flores - burger and taco shack. Based on the "new" menu. It's very sad - because it's neither "fish nor fowl". Is it Mexican street food or a burger joint? It takes forever for the food to come out of a totally confused kitchen and even though there are numbers on the table, they don't know where to bring it. It's the fault of the "21st century"ordering system they are employing. IT is totally "Fakakta"!! Theoretically, the order goes from your phone to the kitchen, where they process it and prepare your food, then the runner brings it to your table. The reality is disappointingly different. You're better off, sitting at the bar; getting blitzed and watching TV. The fast food gets there sooner! You can do that at home and not have to worry about driving home drunk. Sadly, they spent a small fortune on theme glasses, seat back covers that look like Santa's hat, and specialty merchandise. See photos. I have a feeling, that a lot of the people that were there tonight. Sitting around at the tables, waiting for their food, that took over an hour to arrive won't be back! Especially a lot of the senior citizens or anyone over 30 years old that wondered what was going on? It was suggested; that as a Tapas restaurant they couldn't survive. Wappingers isn't ready for them. However, there are dozens of Mexican taco places within a few miles and burger joints to choose from. Let's hope they fair well.
