The staff is nice and always helpful. Membership isn't cheap for a family of 6, but we pay it due to the lack of pools in Camas. During the summer it's overcrowded and a fight for any kind of shaded chair. The play area is for little kids so if your kid is older, they're squished into a portion of the cold lap pool and left to fend off giant floaties and pool toys. I took a dip in it a few days ago and the water was cold, cloudy and thick from sunscreen. Meanwhile, the outdoor lap lanes, hot tub and both indoor pools are for adults only. The other 9 months of the year is even worse. Family swim is only a couple hours on several days and it's restricted to the small warm pool only. No big pool, no lap lanes and no hot tub. Still battling floaties and dodging squirt guns. I'm opting to install a swim spa in the backyard so we can actually swim as a family and spread out. A much better investment. read more

I'm not really rating Cascade AC on the whole in this review but rather their policy or lack thereof. I enjoy swimming and Cascade has the best pool in the area so participation here is a matter of limited selection. My problem is the lack of policy/signs/refereeing something that keeps inconsiderate lane swimmers in line. Cascade has no posted policy or signs that direct how people should behave when there are others waiting for a lane. Since there are numerous older adults that seem to have developed blindness because they don't 'see' people waiting nor do they ask anyone. Instead, they see someone getting out of the pool and head directly to the lane that just opened up simply not caring that others are waiting. Most people seem to want to avoid conflict so nothing gets said empowering those who are already feel privileged enough to just jump in. Then there's me. I will say something and I might not be nice about it because your rudeness put you in my path. So, lane cutters if you can't turn to those waiting and ask then expect to get called out or for me to jump in 'your' lane. I simply won't stand for your rude behavior or whatever excuse you have for being like you are. As for Cascade - this on you. You have no policy, no guidance and no monitoring leaving us adults to police themselves. Fortunately, most do an exceptional job of policing themselves and have decency and courtesy. However, there are some that don't possess decency and probably have limited self-control when confronted about their behavior that could lead to an altercation between parties. If this were to happen to me you can bet that I would seeing you in court... And, while you are pondering this matter please scrub the pool! It's filthy. The walls and floor of the pool are coated in brown slime that cause slip when trying to push off. P.S. this also applies to those that are in a lane and invite someone that just shows up to join them instead of the next person in line as it should be. Friends don't get a free pass to the head of the line. read more

So far I love this club. I am using my Silver Sneakers account for base access, plus $20/month to have access to the classes. I've only been in a couple times but it's been lovely so far. The chair yoga instructor was great, even though I'm not able to fully participate in everything. And the weights area is nice. I really liked the machines which seem more ergonomic than what I was used to 15 years ago when I was a gym rat (before a million chronic illnesses took my health). There are other gyms in the area which allow you full access to classes and everything with the Silver Sneakers account, but I'm really happy with this club, the cleanliness, friendly staff, etc. read more

This place is disgusting. Nothing is ever clean and every room has its own...unique odor. The staff are very stuffy and standoffish and most of the time they're too busy looking at their phones to let you through the door. I don't think it would be worth the money even if it was free. read more

CAC under-delivers what is promised. Our family joined CAC to have swimming pool access throughout the year, especially for our 5-year-old. It feels like everything about this facility is a compromise. Not enough equipment, dreary cave-like spaces, and limited access to what you want. The app is also incredibly disappointing, clunky, and hard to navigate. The hours for kids swimming and family access are really limited. The kid's pool is incredibly small with almost no deck space for caregivers, they don't have many chairs to sit in, and the ugly concrete block makes it impossibly loud in there. This pool feels like an afterthought at best, it was clearly not designed for families. The whole thing feels like a post-apocalyptic underground bunker. (Which, I suppose, we may be in a dystopian reality these days.) I was also hoping to get my kiddo into swimming lessons. The swimming lessons are not very accessible to working caregivers. The sessions are 2 weeks long, 4 days a week, and take place in the middle of the day or right at 5. They don't offer any weekend swim lessons, at least not in the summer. I do appreciate the outdoor water park for kids and the kids club. A great day is to drop the kid at the kids club, get a workout, then head to the pool for the afternoon. Our kid is also very into working out, probably since we are, and likes being there. We haven't tried the kid's workout class yet but would like to see that offered on the weekends so it's more accessible. CAC is way overcrowded at peak hours, before and after work. I find this the most frustrating. Gyms should be designed for peak hours and actual capacity, that's when and how gyms are used. The cardio equipment is maintained but they are probably the hardest to access during peak hours. There are lots of different weight training options and, for the most part, the members are easy about working in on a set. If you have the knowledge, it's pretty easy to sub a target muscle group but for newbies this might be a really intimidating process. If you're set on using the single muscle group machines you would want to try to avoid peak hours for sure. I appreciate when gyms make an effort to be welcoming to people who are new to working out, all too often people get intimidated and end up not sticking with a routine which is such a bummer. CAC really isn't super welcoming to folks without an existing knowledge base about gyms and how to design/find a good workout without having to pay extra for personal trainers or their version of crossfit. There is so much room for improvement here, from staff training and ease of access on the floor to orientation classes, and ease of access to instructions on the app. Overall, I get the feeling that this was a bare-bones facility that tried to morph into a family club, but it just failed. I use to love the bare-bones, get-in, get-out facilities where everyone was pretty focused on getting a great workout. But, now as a mom, I want a facility where I can get my lift on, and where my kid has lots of options to fall in love with gym life. I'd appreciate more social activities, an option to buy food or snacks and stay at the pool all afternoon, and an overall more comfortable, club-like space to enjoy. I think CAC could learn a lot from clubs that emphasize the multifunction club aspect to be a draw for families over the bare-bones model. If you're expecting a Villa Sport experience, you'll be disappointed. read more

CAC Vancouver is a beautiful facility with terrific instructors. In order to attend a class, members must sign up 24 hours in advance using the club's app. This is a competitive sport in its own right because the more popular classes fill up immediately. CAC has yet to add more of these popular classes, and it's disappointing. read more

Employees are nice enough but do not address issues when they are brought forth by members. Today is the third time I have brought up the central equipment wipes were fully out and the third time they just said "thanks" with no action toward replacing them - after me watching for some time. Management has fostered a very dismissive culture. Employees are certainly not proactive with rounding to ensure items are stocked. Unfortunately, this place is not following any cleanliness and sanitation standards. My daughter is taking swimming lessons and she had been doing that for the last 2 years. Last Tuesday (01/24/23) we observed live worms right next to the pool where kids are swimming. The issue was addressed to the general manager Jacob Eisenzimmer and unfortunately, he did't seem to care and no apology was given. And the worst about this situation, that 2 days later, the worms are still there. No cleaning was done, and no actions were taken. I am very concern about the health of my child. There were previously multiple complaints about overall cleanliness of this place too. The condition of this facility are extremely unhealthy and unsanitary. If you like black mold that just gets hidden by the "glam" remodeling they tend to do, then you'll like this club. Changing out some of the ventilation isn't a full remediation effort which is needed when mold spores cover the area for years. Now they're going to paint the pool walls (concrete) and push everyone to the outdoor pool for about a month. None of the regular swimmers seem to support this stupid effort. Although more glam likely will appeal at-a-glance to people who join for their temporary fitness fantasy. Knowing how they do their "remodeling," nothing gets done by the dates they project. And, it is doubtful that they'll handle the paint prep in a way that will provide anything but a Hollywood appearance for a while, and then require maintenance that they neglect. The comment about the worms doesn't surprise me at all. The staff will likely put that kind of thing off - since I've seen this kind of negligence many times. Instead of new glam projects, maybe spend on regular, professional maintenance of the entire facility. I have gotten fungal infections, and other nasty stuff while I used to swim in the indoor pool. User beware that regular members (and their health) are not the priority of this club. If you use the pools for more than a season, you'll start to see and experience what a poorly-cleaned pool offers. read more

This club says nothing on their website about not being able to pay to go to the pool and splash pad, although I was fine with signing up with a membership to do so to be able to take my kids but I have 3 children with me and they would have to make me sit through an entire speel and tour of the club. Ridiculous. They said I needed to come in with a member then I could play, I met a lady outside and she was more then happy to let us go in with her i did not beg or plead I would never do that they just saw us leaving disappointed with 3 children ready to swim. They then publicly shamed us coming back in and said absolutely not and sincerely apologized to the member that I put her in this position. Again I was more then happy to pay for a membership I just am unable to sit through a speel with 3 children that are ready to swim right now. Love this gym! Perfect for families with kids I can take my little ones drop them off get mom time to focus on my own fitness. They have two indoor pools, sauna, stream room, hot tub, and fitness classes all day. I especially love that they offer Kids Fit and rock climbing for kids too. Being able to bring my whole family helps me to get there in the first place! Next for me is a personal trainer and I the Barr classes! read more

I joined CAC mostly for the basketball court and the swimming pool and sauna/steamroom. I quit CAC because those amenities were frequently not available to me. Often, when I'd want to use them they were set aside for children or youth groups. There were several times that I was asked to leave the basketball court during the middle of my shooting drills for this reason. And, the times that worked best for me for lap swimming were almost always reserved for a youth swimming club or team. If you have children then this club would probably work pretty well for you and your family, but if you're single without kids and want to join to use the gymnasium and/or pool then be prepared for them not being available to you for significant stretches of time. At the very least make sure that your schedule meshes with theirs or you'll end up with a membership you can't use for what you wanted to use it for. One last thing to note is that the sauna and steamroom are not in the locker rooms, they're coed and can only be reached from the pool area. read more

Have been a member here for several years and can't think of a better gym around. There is a ton of free weights and cardio machines - treadmills, stair climbers, bikes, etc. There is plenty of space to stretch out after a good cardio sesh. I also enjoy the outdoor pool in the summer but there are other indoor pools and even a sauna that I haven't used. The staff has always been very friendly, the equipment is clean and there aren't any meat heads that I've seen. If you're looking for a gym that has plenty of amenities, this is your place. read more

This place is not good. When you register the program, they like to talk with you anytime. But when you want to cancel the program due to some urgent issues, they don't reply you even you called them many times per day. They don't care about the customers, they just focus the money. I was looking for a gym with a pool near my house, and of the three, this one won and I've been going here for 2 months now. Overall, it's a big gym and divided into lots of different areas, which makes it feel less intimidating than other gyms where I've been. There are some classes that I've taken and they have two different studios. The yoga class was excellent- big room, lots of space, they have mats or you can bring your own. The barre class I've taken a few times. I really like the evening Tuesday night teacher. Very personable and out to help you make the most of the class. As expected, it's brutal- in a good way. Swimming, my priority, is great here. It's the biggest lap pool I found in Vancouver- 25 yards. It also has the most lanes. There are two other pools too. An outdoor one, which I haven't used since it's winter. It has a bubble over it which makes me think you might be able to swim, but the only time I've had to wait to do my laps, I walked out there and there was a cover over the water. There's also a warm water/children's pool for aqua -robics. The best part- they use something other than chlorine- I believe it's a salt water base. It still smells a bit, but nothing like the chemical grossness of daily chlorine swimming. I've taken personal training and swim lessons here and enjoy both of the instructors. I feel heard and the levels are customized to my physical ability. There's also a huge rock wall, but it's a bit confusing about how/when you can use it. Downsides of this gym: - Way more expensive than the other two (nearly double) - Poor communication. Setting up lessons appears to happen with the individual instructors and isn't centrally managed. They use their personal cell phones to call people, which feels somewhat less professional to me. Overall, I've signed a month-to-month agreement here and am happy with my decision. read more

While the staff are super friendly and there are a lot of machine and weight options, the floors around the hot tub, sauna, and shower rinse area are completely filthy. I took pictures of the black mold on the tile of the walls and floor in the shower rinse area of the sauna area in August of 2021, and at the end of October, it has gotten worse! Absolutely disgusting nastiness. If I could post pictures here, I would. There has been a bandaid stuck to the tile wall behind the hot tub this entire week. If you sit along the back of the hot tub, drips of water fall sporadically from the ceiling onto you. Stains of rust are on the bottom tiles behind the hot tub and floor. This place needs a serious bleach and power wash. I wonder what the health department would say... Other than that, it's great. read more

Way too crowded. Basic rules like pool safety and cell phone use are not enforced, unless you're a Karen trying to get kids of color removed from the pool (yes I actually witnessed this). Staff no longer take any of the COVID precautions listed above, and it shows in the dirty facilities. Oh and only the men get to have a swimsuit dryer apparently. I was a member of LA Fitness in the Midwest, for close to twenty years. Racquetball was a big part of my life. I went to the club at least twice a week during this time. I moved to Vancouver a few years ago. My LA Fitness membership transferred over, but due to the proximity, and smelly locker room, I quit my membership. Last week I joined Cascade Athletic Club. Here the staff (Dave is one example ) really care, we are not just a number. The club is family owned, which makes a difference. The locker rooms are remodeled, and sparking clean. I have taken a workout class everyday, and enjoyed every one of them! The club exceeded my expectations! It's a perfect fit, even though they do not offer racquetball at this club. (Their Gresham club does!) I'll just have to dance more! read more

I've never used the gym here. Only swimming lessons. If your in the swim program you can't use the restroom before class. The gal at the front said "this time only"for the restroom use. They want you to wait outside before class starts. They say it's due to the floors getting wet and being slippery. It's a very dysfunctional system. It's almost like they treat us differently because we are not members. It's unfortunate because they have good swim instructors. I think they are more interested in the membership side of things. As I'm writing this there are 2 ladies talking about how their swimming system is non functional. Hope this helps them make changes for better. They are probably going to 86 me for this... My solution, it's costly, add another entrance to the building where the gym members can enter. Add water resistant mats in the swim area. And for goodness sake, let people use the restroom. read more

I've been a member here for about two years now and have enjoyed the experience. Cascade makes an effort to keep its facilities and equipment updated (new locker rooms, new weights) and the staff are very friendly. A lot of regulars show up each day to exercise, so it's easy to meet new people here. Cascade is child friendly, so you'll occasionally hear a lot of commotion from children - but that is part of the charm of this place. read more

I support the negative reviews from others such as the one by Cachelle C. (saying "if you need a gym that is flexible, reasonable, understanding even, then you definitely want to look elsewhere."), or the one by Lauren N. (saying, "This club seems to care substantially more about MONEY than about its relationship with its customers."). We signed up for Kids 2 weeks' winter camps last year. We used a credit card for the payment. They were cancelled since there were no other participants. I realized that refund had not been given, so I spoke with Accounting department. The lady did not even apologize for the refund not made. She said she would give the refund in the form of club credit even though she knew that we paid using a credit card and that they cancelled the programs. Huh?! Who would appreciate the refund in the form of club credit? After demanding the refund to be made to my credit card, she reluctantly agreed to do so. Unsure whether they would give me a refund in a timely manner, I disputed the payment for the credit card I used for the payment, but refund was placed to the credit card they had info for. This resulted in duplicate refunds. On 2/22/17 I called and made payment for the duplicate refund. I also made prepayment for 1 year. During phone conversation, I realized that even though we made 1 year prepayment in 2016, we did NOT get 1 month credit as advertised, and the membership was going to expire at the end of March. The lady in accounting department fixed this by extending the membership till end of April. Due to mounting distrust towards CAC, I emailed Lisa of Accounting department on the same day, "I just made payment for balance of $422.76 and prepaid $624.38 for 5/1/2017-6/1/2018 membership for my wife Please email me receipt." Lisa acknowledged this and emailed me the statement confirming the payments. I thought this was the end of the ordeal. However, it was not. When my wife went to CACFL 3/6, the manager stopped her and demanded payment. She says he would not let her go without making payment. My wife has limited English ability. So when he demanded the payment, she called me, and I explained we already made payment, I was busy seeing a patient, and asked him talk to Accounting department. He declined this saying something like, "I already contacted them, and you owe us $xyz." I stepped out of the exam room, and called Lisa. Over the phone Lisa assured me that we did not owe anything, so I asked her to call the manager. Then I got another call from the manager. Instead of apologizing for the mistake, he blamed us saying, "if she had told me 'I already made payment,' this would not have happened." I was appalled by his remark. During the 1st phone call, I clearly said we already made payment, but he did not believe me, and he did not make an attempt to contact Accounting department himself despite my request to do so. I told him, "If I were you, I would check with accounting department before I'd ask someone for payment." Then he became even more defensive., and came up with more excuses. I was fed up with him and hang up on him. I am a busy physician, and I needed to step out of the exam room utilizing valuable patient care time to discuss payment which we don't even owe with this unprofessional manager. I am so frustrated by a series of mistakes they made: 1. Refund for cancelled winter campus tuition was not initiated until I called 2. We did not get 1 month credit despite 1 year prepayment until I spoke with accounting department 3. Apparently a notice that we got duplicate refund went to CACFL but it was not updated when we made payment 2/22. However, even more frustrating/ unacceptable is that fact that the manager did not even offer an apology. My wife says she never wants to see his face again anymore. He treated us like a criminal. We started to look for another gym. read more

I have never left a yelp review in my life but here it goes. I'm really bummed out how things turned out. We used this gym almost everyday. I work two jobs and go to school and am barely getting by alongside my partner. My saint of a mom offered to pay for BOTH of us to go here along with my siblings because of the price and it appeared to be a well put together gym. Pretty cool of her. Initial sign up was great and staff has been nothing short of amazing. We were then told in December by the front desk that our membership was showing as cancelled. We figured it was because my mom's card needed to be updated, so she calls to pay and update. They told her she needed to come in to update payment information. This was for her to do at her inconvenience after working overtime in Portland everyday. We were then told by accounting that this was miscommunication and she didn't have to go in. So she calls again, after several failed attempts to pay over the phone, front desk eventually processed her payment. I was then given a sheet of paper to sign to reinstate our memberships. Cool, did that. In between all of this, someone eventually verified our address because they had a bad one on file. However, we were STILL getting calls saying we were going to be sent to "collections" (which is bs by the way, so don't let them get ya on that) and our membership continued to show up as cancelled even though we paid. Weird, okay. I come in again during the weeks of all of this miscommunication of payments and the girl tells me it's still showing cancelled and that we were sent to "collections." What? So she gives me the number to accounting. I called right away because I wanted to see what the heck was going on and I can't even begin to explain how inconsiderate the lady was, Donna. Hi Donna. She said they've sent us multiple statements that have gotten returned and when I asked for the address on file, it was an address we have never lived at. Turns out she got it from the post office. Again.. what? We literally go to the gym almost everyday and no one said a word for 2 months. She then says they called as well, and I said yes and that's why my mom called you guys multiple times to pay. And she treated us like we were two irresponsible kids by saying "well the thing to do would have been for you guys to call". First of all, we did call. Multiple times. And second, we paid. Third, we come in everyday and no one said anything. And she said "well front desk isn't suppose to so they don't embarrass you." Excuse me? Embarrass me? We never miss our payments for bills when due, ever. And we immediately tried to resolve the issue the minute we were notified of it due to YOUR business's delayed communication. Thanks. She also said something along the lines of "well it's not hurting your credit for now, and until it's paid, we're the ones taking the hit." Seriously? Who says that to a customer? Again - we paid. And when my mom spoke to her, Donna said "well they're 24, they should be adults, we can't discuss billing information with parents." How dare you? We legitimately cannot afford your prices and still chose your gym. My mom kindly offered to pay for us and you're literally putting her through hell for no reason. Needless to say, our membership is cancelled for "non-payment." Hah. Shocking. And none of us have been in in January, yet they're still charging my mom's card for my sister's membership until she GOES IN to cancel. Again at the inconvenience of her also working overtime to provide for her family. I work in customer service, so I get it. I also get that the communication between locations can be difficult. It seems like this all turned out to be one giant bundle of miscommunication, which wouldn't have been a big deal if handled professionally. But the mistreatment towards my family and I is unforgivable. I have never, ever, ever... ever. In my life experienced such poor service like this before. Instead of worrying about the customers, Donna was more concerned about saving her own butt. Won't happen again though. Good luck Cascade. read more

My husband and I joined about 8 months ago and it's been a great experience. Every staff member we've talked to has been nice and informative. The gym has several different sections in it and you can find at least two of most types of workout equipment, so you rarely have to wait for a machine. read more

Beware of this gym guys! The main thing about this gym is how expensive it is with all the different activities they offer you during sign-up yet a few weeks into your membership you realize none of them are available during normal hours because they have all these classes that overrule public access to everything. The pool is always closed off for high school classes or church classes or any other class that books out the pool so you can't swim. Same with the basketball gym. On top of all that inconvenience is the overcharging. these guys charged me so much in a short period of time that it flagged my account for fraudulent activity. After trying to get it squared away with them they completely jacked me around and passed me along from person to person all to get to the final boss and he was a complete jerk his name is Greg and that guy needs some lessons in customer service. I was basically asking for an explanation on what's up with all these charges and ol Greg got offended and decided to insult me. Look I get theirs early cancellation fees but to be charged hundreds of dollars is jus criminal! Make sure you read all the fine print and ask all the questions because they do not disclose everything upon sign up. you're locked into a serious contract (for a gym membership) where they're going to grab a hold of your bank card and start making up all these charges that they do every couple months and not explain anything to you. I've swam here (off & on) for years. It is a great family-friendly athletic club with a friendly and professional staff! The indoor and outdoor pools are clean and fantastic! The facility is clean and well lite with a verity of work out areas and options. The membership price is higher than some other facilities, but Cascade provides an exceptional workout facility and experience for members of all ages, fitness levels and body types. read more
