I primarily remember taking part in gymnastics through Cascade Elite Gymnastics because of the Cascade part of the name. When I came here growing up, Cascade was a frequently used word in my social sphere (name of a swim club some of my friends were interested in and my grandad volunteered on trails in the Cascade Mountains). In terms of my artistic gymnastic abilities, I was naturally flexible and high energy. I managed to surprise my family/friends that it did not translate to gymnastics ability. As part of a group, we went through and tried different apparatus to the best of our abilities, I was best at bars and worst at floor. I had/have a fear of falling and for some reason that flared up in my not being able to do a cartwheel (fear of falling flat on my face), however an interest in bars (where fear of falling was overcome by apparatus coolness). My time here was short lived in part because of my not quite taking to it, the workers/instructors were kind and understanding both in my taking part and withdrawing/not continuing. read more

Both my kids took rec classes. My daughter took them for close to 3 years, I think the preschool classes are great but beyond that, these rec classes are waste of time. The feedback from coaches was inconsistent, the coaches kept changing every week. Spring session, there was feedback posted on our online account, but during fall session time there was no feedback, the only communication you get is about strict registration process. Just feels like money pit not really about kids making progress. My daughter lost interest, she switched to different sport. read more

Not a fan. Signed up my kid for rec classes this summer. The young high school teacher has so little energy and enthusiasm. Not at all interested in her job - I've seen her stare off into space, looking at her nails, not at all paying attention. Very disappointing. This review is based on my experience with staff overall. Coach Tyler was a good coach in general and was patient with the preschool class. He was on time and engaged with the kids during class. Every time we entered the building we were generally ignored which is fine, but both times I had a question it was like talking to a brick wall. The second time I was asking about help with signing up for the next session. There were 4 people at the front desk and after asking the first person who basically said I can't help you, I asked another staff member who appeared to be a manager or senior staff member; maybe the owner. They had their dog with them and were more concerned with that than much of anything else. I asked for help and they said they were busy but would get to it when they were done. I waited by the desk for 15 minutes, another family came in that they knew and began discussing something else with them for the remaining time. I then asked 2 other staff members what I should do and one just gave me a blank stare, the other said to just email them and they would deal with it later. The most upsetting part of all of this was that during the 15 minutes I was waiting for help, the staff began gossiping about the students in my child's class. I heard them complaining about the kids who didn't listen as well or were "problem" kids. Even the senior staff members were doing this. The way they were talking about them was petty and extremely unprofessional. This was so upsetting to me at that point I had decided we probably wouldn't be back. I should have checked reviews in advance, this place is convenient to where we live but after observing staff over the last 6 weeks I can see why the reviews are subpar. If preschool classes are that annoying to you and your facility then stop offering them. All these kids would be better off somewhere in they are respected by everyone and their families are helped when needed. read more

This is an amazing place for a child to grow into an amazing person. The coaches are really nice and caring. My son is on the men's team here and he feels safe and happy. He enjoys every moment in the gym. I highly recommend this facility for both recreational and competitive gymnastics. read more

My daughter is 2 years old and we are in our 2nd session in the Bouncing Bunnies class. She LOVES going to gymnastics and making her way through the obstacle course that is just her size. Both coaches from each session (Thea & Hailey) have been awesome and very patient as you need to be with this age group. My daughter has a lot of energy and even more sass and both coaches helped her and all of the toddlers through each activity calmly and with lots of encouragement. While I have seen a lot of other gyms that have more updated equipment in the area, everything that the gym uses is in great shape and they take care of it well. read more

I play hard. So when I gotta show up a bunch of 4 & 8 year olds and show 'em how it's done, I play here. I take the adult gymnastics classes and I love the combination of open gym combined with coach-led floor drills and stretching. The classes are 2 1/2 hours long so I really get to practice a variety of things that I'm working without having to rush through a short period of time. I play on the rings, balance beam, uneven bars, and the wall bars. There's all kinds of weights and contraptions to try and experiment with. My only complaint is that some of the equipment, particularly the wall bars, are close to things, like doors and their knobs, that obstruct some of the exercises that I do. Other than that, this place is legit for living out Olympic aspirations. There's lots of parking and the prices are a great value for the length of the classes. read more

This is a real gymnastics gym. It is not a quasi - gymish kid play place. The teachers are real gymnasts and it is a real skill based gymnastics curriculum which increases with levels. It is a big crazy in the larger beginning classes but if you can stick it out past the initial level it gets better and more organized. Also it is cheaper than the quasi - gymish kid play places like The Little Gym and Gymboree. So if you don't care about the place being all pretty and colorful and you do care about real gymnastics then here ya go. read more

Our kids have been taking the Pre-K classes (moving monkeys and leaping leopards) for several years now. All the instructors have been really good with the kids - our favorites were Doug and Kimmi. The kids have fun, but also have learned a lot and now have a much better sense of control over their body. Our persepective has been mostly for the little ones, but had been really good. We will definitely stick with it for a while. In the past we had some issues as to when the kids should move up to the next class - once where they didn't advance our daughter soon enough and the other where they advanced her too quickly. More input with parents here would be nice. But we worked through everything, and Cascade Elite was accommodating. read more

Oh boy. We went for a free trial lesson. My daughter was in a group where one girl melted down and was screaming and crying that she didn't want to participate- instead of the parent grabbing the kid, the coach had to take time away from the lesson to encourage her to participate (just more crying). The best part was another girl trying to kick mine, then repeatedly drumming on my kids head, pushing her, growling at her, pretty much just being nasty. The coach told her to stop, (she didn't), but wouldn't you just tell the kid to take a time out and not participate? The front desk people and coach were all nice but we need a place with more control. read more

They seemed friendly at 1st but they are not once I signed up, they don't even say hi to us, just tying on computer.... coach was very nice until I signed up also.... ​We attended a birthday party at this gym. My son, who is 3.5 yo, was harassed by the male instructor the entire time. I had other parents approach me to let me know how he was speaking to him because they were concerned. He pulled at his shirt and demanded eye contact from him. ​When I approached the male instructor about this he was condescending, rude, aggressive and unprofessional. I was so embarrassed to be spoken to in such a manner and have my kid be so harped on at a birthday party. He provided no solutions. When I couldn't find my son, the same instructor blamed me for not watching him (the parents were told not to come in and I was not aware of how large the facility was). I ended up pulling him out of the gym. When we went back in we had the parent of the birthday kid with us and my son went into the foam pit. The male instructor asked me to pull Koen out of the gym again for not listening (note that I pulled my kid out on my accord due to the male instructor's aggressive nature). I reminded him of the solution I provided to watch my son (which he had agreed to before) and he started to talk back to me until the birthday parent stepped in and asked that he not speak to his guest in such a manner. The instructor then talked back to him and was incredibly rude when the birthday parent asked to speak to the manager. The male instructor then stood at reception and complained about me where other guest could hear and relayed to me. I am mortified. I have NEVER had such a horrible experience at a kid's bday party. It was clear that there was no training provided to deal with these situations. I didn't want to embarrass my son so I kept my cool and just removed us from the aggressive situation. We went to a party at The Little Gym the next day and it was like night and day. He had a blast, they let him explore and be a kid. They were fun, happy and knew how to work with kids. read more

We love the instructors at this gym and after experienceing two other very well known gyms in the area feel this one has the best instructors by far. Pros: Coaches give excellent feedback and really set the bar high for kids to excel. The structure and discipline in the CEG program is the best we have seen. The kids seem to thrive when there is a lot of structure, and these coaches artfully deliver discipline as well. You can always find parking. Cons: Facility itself is run down and needs to be cleaned, new carpets would be really great too. The viewing area is super tight and parents stand shoulder to shoulder in order to watch their children. It seems like more attention could be placed on making the upstairs viewing area a little more accommodating. The $10 phone fee to re-register your child in class seems exorbinant. Other gyms like SGA allow over the phone credit card payment at no charge, which is great for busy working parents. read more

Just had my daughter's 7th birthday party here! Every child had a wonderful time, the staff were professional and great with the kids. The room for the cake was perfect, and they supply tablecloths and a balloon for each child, as well a t-shirt for the birthday child! We would definitely go back. read more

I was just at this place for a birthday party my daughter was attending. The place is dirty and it smells. Really, really smells. I understand that gymnasts use chalk, but there is a layer of chalk on everything, even in the rooms where they are having the birthday parties. The carpets are also dirty. On the positive side, the staff seemed to be friendly. The facility is large, and they seem to have tons of equipment. Meh, I would simply prefer Seattle Gymnastics Academy over this place. read more

This gymnastics school is great. Both of my daughters go here, and we love the teachers, the teaching style, etc. There are classes from toddlers to teens, so something for everyone. I would give 5 stars, however one complaint I have had for the 7 years I have gone there... no seating for parents! Parents have to watch from the loft area upstairs, however it is standing only. I have been through two pregnancies there, and standing for an hour to an hour and a half one to three days per week really takes a toll. They don't even have stools or anything to offer to the elderly/pregnant. Your only option for sitting is bringing your own stool (and lugging it up the flight of stairs) or sitting on that flight of stairs. You would think that would be something they'd consider fixing, but I guess not. read more

I've had two kids go through programs at CEG, one boy and one girl, and have been affiliated with the gym for over 11 years. My kids have both grown up at the gym, and they view it as a second home. Four stars for the staff and birthday parties, but..... This place smells like wet dog, sweat and dirty feet combined. The viewing area isn't so good either. It's basically a couple tiny loft hallways for parents to crowd around and lean over a ledge to watch their kids from above. Most of the parents here are rude. They take much more space than necessary while reading a book or sitting on their phones so parents like me, who really care about what their children are doing, can't actually watch their kids. Anywho... the staff is AMAZING. They're serious about what they do, but also understand how to work with children so they can still have fun while learning great gymnastics skills. Coach Ava and coach Doug are both great! Also, prices are affordable and the Bday parties are fun and inexpensive as well. read more

Cascade smells every bit as bad as other reviewers mention, and one has to wonder about what that ghastly cloud of chalky haze that hangs in the air might be doing to one's respiratory tract. That said, we've had a really positive experience during our six months at this gym. My kids participate in the recreational classes, and it's really helped in building their strength and endurance - especially my youngest, who is on the autism spectrum and has deficits in his gross motor functioning and strength. They separate the boys from the girls, and there are a fair number of boys and young men who attend this gym, so my sons have never felt like they were participating in a "girls" sport (most of the other gyms I looked into were predominantly geared towards girls). The coaches we've had thus far have been great, and I have to give an especially big shout out to coach Doug, who has limitless patience and is able to engage even the wildest and most distracted of boys. The exercises they do are similar to, and really compliment, the OT that my youngest attends, and his therapists have both noticed how much he's since adding gymnastics to his weekly activities. They also have a great parents night out, which is offered once a month. Four hours of gymnastics and games for the kids, with plenty of coaches on the floor to supervise and ensure the kiddos are safe and having fun. My boys love it. The sessions run about 8 weeks long, so it's fairly non-committal. If your kids are in-between their usual sports, this would be a good way to keep them fit during the off season, especially if you're looking for something that doesn't involve them getting wet and muddy. Both of my daughters have attended Cascade Elite Gymnastics for the past 6 years. Both started on the rec side where one quickly moved to the competition side. As a rec side parent I loved 8-week sessions. They were the perfect commitment length and EXTREMELY affordable! As a competition side parent, I LOVE IT! The athletes AND coaches are as one big family. We look forward to meets because that's when our girls shine and the parents play! The coaches are of the highest caliber and standard. In the 5 years my daughter has been competing we have only said goodbye to 3 coaches. CEG is an upstanding establishment that my entire family supports with pride. read more

Could be better, could be worse- doesn't quiet get 3 stars in my book. First the good, this gym is the real deal- definitely not a Little Gym type place. I love watching the gymnasts practice, they are super impressive which is a testament to the coaches. If you know ahead of time you will miss a class, they don't charge you for it. This is nice. On the other hand if you miss a class unexpectedly, there is no makeup class. Now for the bad. This place smells SO BAD, like years of sweat, feet, and old chalk dust. There are absolutely no chairs and no where to sit. SGA has a set of bleachers for parents, plus a room to sit down on benches and put on shoes, coats and clothes. There is no where to change your clothes here, you can barely take your kids shoes off without being knocked over or get into a locker to place your belongings. Parents stand in a balcony viewing area squished together for an hour watching their kids below. Together with the smell, its very off putting. We go twice a week for two different daughters since I was unable to get a class for both of them at the same day and time- Parking is pretty bad for the evening class, but not bad for the weekday 9am class when we are one of only 5 other families there, plus staff. I am not happy about the fee to register over the phone. They say their credit card company charges them to process over the phone payments, but I don't buy it. Also they will process in house customers first, fine. There is also no option to register online. This leaves your last option of having to go in and register on registration day. The line goes out the door and they are SLOW. By the time you get to the front, the class you originally wanted is sold out. Super frustrating. I registered for another session but I think I will go back to SGA for next session. Finally if you're still here with me- I was very upset about this at the last class. Yes my daughter is there to learn and be pushed (Id rather say encouraged) to do better each week. However, this week she came out in tears because she only got one stamp where as other girls got two. She was very sad about this. I bring her here for fun and to be uplifted, not brought down by the coaches. I asked her why she only got one and she said it was because she "wasn't good". However, I watched the whole class and she seemed fine to me?? At the beginning of class, she hurt her foot and came to me in tears. She said the teacher told her to go home since she got hurt. But I had her sit down for two minutes, she stopped crying and was running around playing with her sister so I sent her back in. These classes are way too expensive to be sent away so fast. Why didn't the coach just have her sit and watch for a minute then re-assess her and have her join in if she felt better after a little rest? In my opinion, the young coaches have no patience for little kids and don't seem to enjoy their jobs. Sad. read more

Their adult gymnastics class is the best in the greater Seattle area! It's not listed in their schedule, but if you call the gym they can tell you more. You pay the instructor, not the gym, which is nice because you don't have to commit. The first class is free. The first hour is more like a crossfit class, with lots of strength training, but the second hour is stretching and basic tumbling, and the third hour the gym opens up and you can pretty much do whatever you want. You can come and go as needed, you don't have to stay all three hours. read more

I have twin preschool-aged children who take classes here once a week. This place isn't great, isn't bad---firmly "ok". The SMELL of the place is rather atrocious, and it's just...in need of some cleaning. Carpets are very dirty and it's just smelly..hard to say what it is. The equipment/activities they have there are great, for kids of all ages. Prices seem a bit steep but I don't know how other places compare. Instructors are nice enough. As someone else said, this is a real gymnastics place--nothing like Gymboree or Little Gym--it's a real place. We'll likely continue in the fall, we'll see how the program changes as the kids get older. The only other thing--all parents watch from an upstairs viewing area, and there isn't even ONE SEAT. Which is a total pain when you're standing there for 30-60 minutes. So you can either stand or sit on the needed-to-be-cleaned-last-year carpet. read more

We went here for our 4 year old's birthday party, and it was awesome! The staff were laid back, but attentive, and really made sure the kids had a great time. I especially appreciated that "Coach Peanut Butter" made sure to send the girls off to the water fountain whenever they were getting flushed (it was a *very* hot day). It's probably best for smaller parties, as the party room might get crowded, but for our little crew, it was fantastic AND a lot less expensive than other party venues I'd looked at. read more

My kiddo has taken a few sessions here. It was a convenient location, reasonably priced, for a week night activity for a 6 year old to burn off some energy and learn how to do cartwheels. My son took a summer off, he was on level 6. For three weeks I was trying to get in touch with staff, nobody ever responded; when it came to the attention of the manager Sandy she was rude, unprofessional and unable to fix the problem. Enrolled my three children for private lessons. Was impressed with the instructor and front desk staff. Not impressed with management. After two lessons, we were informed that our lessons were actually $15 more per hour than we had been told. After third lesson was asked to fill out some additional registration forms. I asked if there would be an additional fee for forms. I was told no, only to get an email a few days later informing me that we owe an additional $40 registration fee per child. It is obvious the staff is not well informed and/or management is making it up as they go along. Also, thought it quite odd that management had the instructor inform of us of the additional $15/hr. Agree with other reviews in regards to place smells terrible and needs cleaning. read more

We moved to CEG a little over a year ago because our daughter wanted to be on a team with other girls her age and level. She competes at a high level and is in the gym about 25 hours/week. We could not be happier with our decision to move. I agree with the other comments that this is not a "playtime" gym for the team girls.. the coaches work them HARD, but my daughter still love, love LOVES going to gym every day. The coaches are highly trained (I really like their focus on technique and conditioning) and they care deeply about the girls. The other families and girls on the team are lovely and supportive and it's a fantastic community for our entire family. I find the relative drama level low and the stability level high. Competitive gymnastics is a tough sport that requires a mind-boggling amount of dedication and strength from these girls - and I'm so thankful and grateful for the coaches and staff at CEG for the heart and soul they pour into the girls every day. read more

Let me preface this by saying my daughter has been going to this gym since she was around 3 years old. I am very familiar with what goes on because I generally stay and watch the entire practice session. I give this gym one star only because of coach Tricia and Ava are excellent coaches in the Rec program. Otherwise I would give this gym zero stars. Take my advice and stay away from this gym. You will avoid a lot of heartache and save a lot of money. This gym treats there gymnasts terribly by constantly yelling at them. It's almost like a dark cloud hangs above this gym. The coaches ridicule the kids and berate them. I feel bad that I let this go on too log with my daughter in the Xcel program as a silver. I thought gymnastics was just that way. But that is NOT the case, trust me. By the time my daughter left the gym, she was taped up and hated gymnastics. I recently found out a prior teammate of hers left the Xcel program as well. The coaches do not know how to break down skills so that the kids understand. They in turn punish the kids with conditioning and by yelling at them. Another girl at Cascade Elite quit and ended up hating gymnastics. Way to go Cascade Elite, you guys suck! When my daughter quite she also hated gymnastics but I got her to try out for the Silver Xcel team for Bothell Gymnastics Club (BGC). The coaches are amazing there and the girls are super friendly. When Natalia first showed up they looked at her taped up wrists and told her to take off the tape because they do all sorts of stretching exercise to strengthen he wrists. Sure enough, once we took the tape off, her wrist pain went away. In the meantime, Cascade's answer was to continue to tape her wrists. Cascade spends half their practice running their girls and yelling and laughing at them to run faster at the expense of inadequate stretching. The atmosphere at BGC is much lighter and positive. They adopt a more positive proactive coaching style. Just recently, a coach from Cascade Elite left and came to BGC. The writing is on the wall. Cascade Elite is going down and gymnasts and coaches are fleeing to BGC. BGC is located in Bothell at 2214 20th Ave. SE Bothell. It is in the industrial park area behind the hidden McDonald and Pacific Medical Centers. read more

The main purpose of this gym is serious gymnastics and the training facility is very impressive looking. I was there today for a 1st grade birthday party in a separate kids section. They run a GREAT birthday party!!! They have 1 - 2 gymnasts supervising the kids activities through a foam pit, obstacle coarse, trampolines, and rope swing. It was very safe, well organized, and the kids had an amazing time. Then there was time in the party room with balloons for pizza, cake and presents. The staff was super friendly, check-in was fast, the facility was very clean. I looked up their prices online and they are comparable or even a little bit cheaper than other kids party facility options depending on the number of kids. I'll definitely keep them in mind for my children's birthdays but I'm really excited to check out their Parents Night Out, Sleep Over, and School Break Camps which I have heard great things about! read more
