When I first moved to Cottage Grove in 2015, I was excited about the opportunity to support another "hometown" kinda store. From my first experience in the store, their staff have clearly demonstrated the most uncaring and attacking nature. First, I called to verify stock on an item, and asked how much they charged for it. I went in to pick the item up, only to be hit with the proverbial "bait and switch" at the register. I called the cashier on it, and told her I called not 5 minutes before, and was given a price that was less than what she was trying to charge me. She called over her manager, who proceeded to try and make ME feel guilty about "ripping off" the store. I proceeded to leave the store, and bought what I needed at the Jerry's Home Improvement Store in Eugene. A few weeks later, I saw one of the Cascade Do It Best ads which they sent me in the mail. I saw something in there, and went down to pick one up. Same story as before. Cashier tried to overcharge me. Manager was called, and he informed me they don't HONOR the mailer pricing. Once again, I drove into Eugene to buy the item at Jerry's. A few months later, a neighbor started telling me about something Cascade carried, and I figured I would go pick one up as well. I went into the store, asked someone where they stocked the item. The clerk walked me to the aisle and verbally told me the price. I immediately pointed out that the price they quoted was higher than their price tag on the item. The clerk then announced, "Well, that was a sale price from a sale we ran over 6 WEEKS ago." And proceeded to walk away. I walked out and bought the item at the Eugene Lowes Home Improvement store. Six years later, I am still telling people not to patronize Cascade, and why. Today, it was snowing when my wife and I got up. Being a Sunday, we went out and tried purchasing some rock salt for our driveway. BiMart and WalMart were both sold out, but another customer said Cascade has rock salt. My wife called them and verified they had it in stock, but they refused to hold any for us. My wife offered to provide her credit card over the phone, and they REFUSED! We drove to Cascade anyway, and my wife sent me in. Their cashier informed me they were sold out. I have NEVER in my life encountered a more incompetent staff than those people employed at Cascade. I refuse to deal with ANYONE from there, because they obviously have an IQ of 10. Jerry's, Lowes, and Home Depot ALL accept credit cards over the phone, and are willing to hold products for people driving in from outlying areas. In addition, they stand BEHIND the pricing they provide over the phone, on their website, and on their shelves/products. I am not going to continue trying to support a company which clearly has zero understanding of what true customer service is. When I walk in the door at Jerry's and Lowes, I am immediately greeted, and given CORRECT information about where to find things in the store. And their products are usually better quality and a LOT less to purchase than those at Cascade. So THANK YOU so very little Cascade. I am totally UNDERWHELMED at your lack of service, integrity, and knowledge. You should do us all a favor and change your name to "Cascade, Do it WORST!" because you are truly nothing but a blight in this town. Barring that, one OTHER thing you could do is just permanently CLOSE your doors. You clearly don't want to sell anything, or help anyone purchase anything either. read more
