I really don't even need to write this review. You already know that your neighborhood independent downtown hardware store is just damn awesome. Just awesome. You need something? They have it. You could go to a national chain store where the lackeys, er, uh, employees don't have a clue. You might find what you're looking for. You won't pay any less. Or, you could go to Robnetts, and if you don't immediately see what you need, one of the staff will take you right to it. Have an odd fastener? They have it in stock. They can even tell you exactly what it is before you go looking. My only dig was one time I needed a bolt for some furniture. They had one that fit, but it was a bolt with a hex head that takes a standard wrench rather than flush top that uses an allen wrench. Guess what? My chair still works! Not too long ago I needed an odd light bulb. I wanted to get an LED version. They had exactly what I needed, and I paid less than what I would have paid had I ordered online. Another time I was looking for some oddball light bulbs for a friend. They had the EXACT match, both in halogen and LED. I got the LED. Sweet. Just recently, I needed an odd sized allen wrench. I have so many of them, and I have a few sets. I didn't need a whole set, just one wrench. Eighty-nine cents and two minutes later it was in my pocket and I was on my way with a smile. Robnetts has been in business over 100 years run by generations of the same family. They are masters at what they offer and have very knowledgeable friendly staff. When I need something and don't know the technical name they can figure it out from my garbled description of what I need......this is a skill in short supply at the big box stores. They offer services you just cant find in the big stores and carry those obscure items you won't find anywhere else in the valley. Just hope the family has a younger family member who might be getting ready to continue the tradition and bless Corvallis with this gem of a hardware store. read more

Robnett's is great! Whenever I need any hardware or other construction/project materials I go here. They're all nice people and happy to help with my sometimes unconventional questions about hardware or repairs. There's something to be said about a family owned business and I think this story will share my feeling. 3 years ago, I put a new radiator in my truck. Some of the cooler fittings were the wrong thread pitch. I ran all over town for hours trying to find adapters to get the cooler hooked up. I ended up at Robnett's right before they were closing and asked if I could borrow a tap and dye set to cut new threads to accept the adapters I'd gotten. One of the owners, Scott, stayed open for like 30 extra minutes so I could get it done and that really meant a lot to me. I've been a regular there ever since and plan on continuing my patronage. read more

Went in for some key copies. I try to support local businesses instead of using key copy machines at places like Home Depot. Google (at the time said they open at 7:30AM.). I drove over and arrived at 7:30. The sign on the doors said 8AM open. Waited a half and hour for them to open. The counter guy said google wouldn't update their opening time, yet it seems to have changed now to 8AM within a day. Had 4 keys copied, and they didn't have the blank for the other two. The guy working had a rude attitude and showed no interest in ordering the blank. He cut the 4 keys, tossed my card and receipt on the counter with an attitude and disappeared into the back somewhere. Takeaway: Rude service, Unhelpful, Unreliable opening times. They close at 5PM sharp (so good luck getting anything if you are in a pinch and you work a 9-5 job, they will be closed. Main point: RUDE and Unprofessional staff and opening hours that seems to vary. Closing at 5PM, so useless for people that have jobs and work. read more

Robnetts is the real deal. I was doing some Renovation on our house a few blocks from Robnett's and when I walked in to buy a rare surface mounted dead bolt (which they had in stock) I noticed a sign that read (since 1895). "Wow" I thought. Robnett's no doubt outfitted most of our 1897 house and here I was 120 years later still taking care of that house with the Help of Robnett's. Here's to another 120 years! read more

Despite the size of the store they seem to have everything I could ever think to ask for, I am convinced they must have part of the store that exists in another dimension or something. They have more usable inventory than the big orange box and actually know what I am asking for without me having to explain it. This place is a Corvallis treasure. Great local "Small Town" hardware store. I try to shop at Robnett's as much as possible. The level of service you get there trumps anything from Home Depot or Lowes. They also have a great hardware section for odd fasteners. I also have repainted the entire inside of our home with paint from here. Nothing but quality. read more

We once had a 100 y/o house we were fixing up. The bathroom faucet was brass, unique, and probably the original install. I took the whole thing here in hope to find parts to rebuild it. Not only did they have the parts, but they dressed the valve seats, installed the O-rings and rebuilt the whole thing while I waited. All for the price of the parts. Robnett's has been around longer than I have. And for good reason. They're a family owned hardware store with a pretty solid selection of hardware. They have a fantastic selection of fasteners. They also have all the other random little hardware bits that you might need - but for me where they have always shined the brightest is when I needed a screw, nut, or washer. I can only say positive things about this place. This is your good 'ol, family-owned hardware store. If you need anything, you can probably find it here. They also make keys and cut goods (chicken wire, tubing, peg board, etc.) to size. Every time I'm here, someone always is there immediately to help-- not just make a quick sale, but HELP. I was able to talk directly to a person who answered the phone. He was extremely helpful, answered all of my questions, had exactly what we needed, and they will provide curbside pickup. I went there this morning to get a new spray bottle to spray the weeds in my yard. But what they had was up on top of their shelves and I couldn't look at them. So, I waited till I had one of "their" guys to help me. First he knocked over all they had with a stick, and said he had to get the ladder. Then with the ladder he got down the one I was interested in. As I was looking it over, apparently I wasn't shopping fast enough. He walked away to help someone else. But he left the ladder.So, I climbed up on the ladder to put the one away that he'd gotten down. And he came rushing up to tell me that we weren't supposed to use the ladder because of insurance reasons. Okay, I'm thinking, but then he walks away. What in the world?. This was the second time in five minutes I complained that the guy that was helping me had abandoned me. I complained about the way they treat people. AND I got banned from the store! What's going on at Robnett's?!? Use to be a great place. Now I'm wondering what in the world in going on with them. I went to Home Depot instead. They had a better bottle for less. What was I thinking? Shopping locally to help a local store out? What good did that do? Now, I'm thinking they're either understaffed, or their behind the eight ball and can't see a way out! read more

I have to say that I love this place. I have only had a few times that they did not have what I needed. Beyond what they offer, I really like the willingness of the staff to help me solve a problem. The store is a classic hardware provider. You will be surprised what all you will find there. In many ways you feel like you are stepping back in time when you peruse the narrow aisles for nuts and bolts. Another plus is you can always find a good deal on overstock or seasonal items. I love Robnett's hardware store. Oh sure, Home Depot is bigger and shinier, but Robnett's has that small town kind of retro feel. There's nothing retro about their merchandise though. It's amazing how much stuff they have. I rarely leave empty handed even if I only have a vague idea of what I need when I go in. They are very friendly and knowledgeable and the employees seem to care about the business. Plus I so prefer to do business when it's owned by one of my neighbors. They have always been full of know-how and friendly service and, really, they beat the pants off the big box stores for having the really useful stuff....literally, nuts and bolts and springs you might need for your repair job, as opposed to the whole rigamarole of useless fluff they try to sell you at HD. Robnett's is a community treasure! I love the creaky old floors and customer service that is unsurpassed. They have an amazing selection of connectors (screws, nuts, bolts, etc) and they sell them by the piece. It is common for a sales person to spend however long it takes to help you find that special screw that costs 5 cents!! I try to shop at Robnett's whenever I can, avoiding Home Depot and BiMart whenever possible. read more

Our issue with service happened months ago, but it was so jarring it still makes me hesitant to go back. We had to return an item, unused of course. The young woman who met us at the counter rolled her eyes, declared they "didn't have enough cash" to return our money (about $35), and sighed loudly the entire time she dealt with us. As we'd used a debit card we expected to have the refund issued on the card, but didn't expect to have to tell her that. Her manner was so hostile throughout that I cringe when I think of returning, and I haven't had the nerve to complain in case she is a relative of the owners. read more

Brought a broken key in today to have it replaced. The older taller fella, I'm assuming the manager or owner told me right away "we can't do that it's broken" dumbfounded I said what do you mean? I have had broken keys replaced in the past. feeling pretty dismissed and frustrated I was about to walk out when another employee came up and told me that he could atleast try to make me a key. Ten minutes later i had a new functioning key. Lesson of this story, don't take the owners/ managers word for anything and if you feel belittled or dismissed by him just ignore him and talk to someone else.. What a great hardware store! I've always had direct and helpful service from anyone who was in there. They truly enjoy what they do and helping people find the right item or giving them tips on what to do in different situations. I've gone a handful of times for some of the most random things, I always find it or a good alternative. They have also told me that whatever they don't have they'll order, only so that you can save shipping costs and that you can get a better price through their store. We drove miles and miles looking for a rock pick hammer. Home Depot - nope. Coastal - nope. Lebanon Ace Hardware - nope. Peak Sports - nope. Rock Shop - nope. We finally found it at Robnett's, and at a good price. We also found some lightweight safety vests we had been searching for at a great price. We'll be checking here first in the future! read more
