The owner of Cascade Marine is incredibly rude, dodgy and does not follow through with his responsibilities and obligations. He does not stand behind his work, is not willing to negotiate or make right any wrongs. Not only was faulty work performed - which caused a very costly follow-up repair... but, additionally massive theft of parts installed on our boat occurred while it was in his possession AND he left it outside, uncovered in bad weather, causing damage to the upholstery. Kenneth Estes of Cascade Marine has owed us over $10,000 that was awarded in a small claims suit. We have attempted to collect this money numerous times over the last 2 years. We have sent signature-verified and certified mail and spoken to him in person and by phone. Every correspondence has not been met with any resolution. As of late, he has now resorted to blatantly refusing the delivery of anything mailed to him and we have to continue investing time and money into trying to collect what is due to us. I would not trust Kenneth nor his business with anything, given our prior experience in dealing with him and his shady, unreliable practices. Where do I start? This is really sickening because I wanted a single place to take my boat I could trust. I did business here three times ... once for a wiring harness (which I an not not positive I needed), second time to have a 2 stroke kicker motor checked over and third, to have a bent prop shaft replaced. The wiring harness job was a bit more than quoted (not significant) and all seemed well. The servicing of kicker seemed cool until today when I went to put it on my boat and found that while it was in their possession, parts were canibalized from it. They said it was perfect and yet is was missing its fuel filter unit and the clips to hold the remote shift and throttle cables in place when returned to me. I should have known something was shady when they were using my motor cart in their shop and my motor was in back somewhere. I also picked up my boat today after a quoted $600 to $800 prop shaft repair. To my shock the bill came to nearly $2100 and they never called me to tell me what was going on or that it was gonna cost more than quoted. Additionally, when I picked it up it was missing one of the outdrive piston blocks. This in its's own right os not a huge deal but when I brought it up with the counter guy there I got attitude and was told " it's just a piece of plastic, if I find it I will call you". Theft, Shady business practices, crappy attitudes toward customers. I am never using them again and I would say buyer beware. This is absolutely disgusting. read more

Came back to pick it up and charged me 1-1/2 times the quote claiming there was more wrong with the boat but never called to ask permission for the additional work. I cannot stress enough how horrible of an experience I had with this company from top to bottom. These guys are con artists. I don't even know truly where to begin, but here's what happened... I took my Sea Ray in for repair. And over the course of A YEAR AND A HALF he kept my boat for months on end, he overcharged me, he lied to me, he put together parts in my engine using ZIP TIES, put incorrect parts into other places (like a steering column that was the wrong size) and he refused to EVER call me with any updates, kept making me call him back to check in with him ("Sorry it's not done, call me back at the end of the week..." Like a broken record). He ultimately kept my boat in his boat yard getting filthy dirty for OVER A YEAR with me calling every month or so. When I finally got it back saying it would work, well (he charged me $2500 telling me that it would) I ended up getting towed back to the dock yet again). So, I returned it and he said he would fix it (again) and he admitted that he hadn't tested it in the water to see if it had worked. Back to me calling him again and again to check in. He again wouldn't call me, I had to check back with him weekly. Months went by, summer was over. After I questioned what the hell was happening, he said something about me being a "nice little lady" and how he could "really use someone like me to help keep him organized" at which point I lost my shit completely and refused to run point person on this and passed it along to my husband to deal with. That was last spring. After a few more months of monthly check ins, we decided to press him harder. So he started calling Ken every single day for two months. We finally got it back after these DAILY calls to him, at which point he charged us another $2000, saying he had to fix the steering column. When my husband pointed out that he had told us he'd changed the steering column months ago, he made up a lame excuse but we paid the bill and took it home. My husband tried it in the water (we knew better than to leave the dock) and it still didn't work. He took it back to Ken the next day, who made some adjustments in front of my husband and showed him that it ran properly (using a hose system they had in the shop), and then we immediately turned around and sold the boat at a loss to a guy who said that he was going to flip it. We wanted out. We disclosed everything we knew about the boat and this guy actually knew how to fix it and keep it running, which made us happy. He was a college kid who did this on the side for extra money. We gave him all the receipts for the work that was done by Ken and after taking the boat home and examining all the work done by Ken, he called us twice because he thought we should know how badly he ripped us off, that Ken is a total con artist, that when he looked at the receipts versus the repairs themselves that they were not only done incorrectly but in fact dangerously. He told us that he knew he had bought it from us as-is and that he knew that he could fix it but that he wanted us to know that we had been ripped off, just how bad it was and recommended that we write this review. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY EVER. DON'T LET YOUR FRIENDS USE THIS COMPANY. Ken is a total con artist, this was the worst customer service experience I've ever had in my life and these guys are THIEVES. read more

When I went in for a simple baffle repair they called and told me they did not like color of my lower unit fluid so they had dismantled (BOTH) lower units and I needed a full rebuild of both. I had just had them done a year prior and they were working fine. Took me three weeks to get my boat. Ruined my salmon fishing season and it cost me nearly $4K to get my boat back. Dropped my Smokercraft off last April to have Cascade repair Johnson Ficht 150 motor. Every week it was a different story as to why he hadn't gotten to my engine yet. Final excuse was that he needed to borrow a computer to run a check on my motor. It was going to show up, and it was going to show up week after week. I finally pulled the boat off their lot and took it to Marine Electronics on Hwy 212 who knew what they were doing. Our boat is always housed in our garage except when it is on the water for the day. So here it was exposed to the elements for three months while I kept giving them the benefit of the doubt. The Walleye decal came back severely faded, but the worst damage was the blue paint scrapes inflicted on the motor cowling. These guys are criminals not mechanics and I would assume there's drugs involved with the help and the owner. I had them take my prop off of my newer 115 optimax and put on my pump. Went to run my sled and they didn't adjust the height of the motor and by the time I realized what was happening my boat almost sunk. I adjusted the motor to the rite height myself then a year later I went to change back to my prop and realized that they didn't put it back in my boat. Went back to get it and surprise surprise they had sold it. Please don't let these amateurs touch your boat or anything else!! read more

These guys are the champions of customer service. My boat was dead and down for the count. Of course this happens at the busiest time of the year for marine service companies and as luck would have it, at the beginning of my vacation. I called around to several marine service companies and only half of them would even call me back. The ones that did call quoted outrageous prices and 3-4 weeks turn around. Ken got on the phone and found me a replacement motor and the service team got me out the door in less than a weeks time and for over a thousand less that the next closest quote! I took my boat in to cascade Marine, I wanted him to fix the motor so it would not die when trolling. I picked the boat up when he said that it was ready. I took my boat to the Columbia so I could test it out. He managed to take my boat when it did go 26 mph, I was able to give it gas my motor spitted and spluttered really bad. I was only able to go 9 miles an hour. He charged me $532 and had no remorse for what he did. AVOID CASCADE MARINE. read more

The guys here are amazing! They are very thorough and do great work. They explain things to you in a way that doesn't make you feel like a dum-dum!! They take the time to answer your questions and they offer up alternatives that work best for your repair issue. If something isn't going to work - they are upfront and let you know rather than encouraging you to fix a lot of stuff you don't need. They test out the boat to make sure it was fixed like they said it would be. They are friendly and have great customer service skills. This guy crooked me out of 125$ when my motor was approved by mercury for repair under warranty. I called mercury for the confirmation after I send my motor to this shop. The owner threatened to steal my motor when I told him I didn't approve an hour of labor. I only approved a mercury rep to look at my motor and fix the problem. The owner took apart my motor (so he says) and did nothing with it. Only to charge me 125$ when my motor was approved by mercury for warranty repair. The crook stole from me and threatened to steal my motor. He also writes 5 star reviews from different accounts regarding his business, very trashy dude and they left my motor completely filthy of rusty water. I'll never be able to get the smell out, trust me on this folks. NEVER USE CASCADE MARINE, their owner is a thief!! I took a small motor in for someone to look at and said they would Not look at it because it was to old and they only work on new high end motors and new boats. Then they seem very disinterest in talking to me and when I asked about register my boat, one of the guy's started Ranting about how they weren't making any money on it and He walked off. Paid for a tune up ken promised our boat would would work, but found out in the middle of the river it wouldn't start. Brought the boat back in to the shop for repair and again the boat wouldn't start. I spent over $500 and still the boat does not run. I feel like it was one lie after another to get my money. Very poor customer service. The owner does not tell you ahead of time that there's a 20%"Restocking" fee if you try to return anything. He says it's printed at the bottom of the invoice. He never gave me an invoice, only gave me the tiny paper receipt that comes out of the credit card machine. He claims that he's charge 3% of the transaction even if you return something so he's passing that on to the customer at 20% "restocking" fee as a cash refund only and will not put it back on your card. I called my credit card company and they said to ask him for a receipt showing the return. Ken then prints up two proper invoices showing the 20% restocking fee at the bottom. I told him I won't be coming back. His response was "don't need you, I'm still in business. Your credit card company can't do anything to me". read more

I have taken my boat to these guys a few times and I will never go there again. This year, I needed to have my outdrive maintenance performed as well as the engine oil changed and basic winterization done. They broke one of the drain plugs during the winterization and then charged me an extra 2 hours of labor to fix their mistake. When I came to pick up my boat, I told Ken Estes that I shouldn't be charged to fix their mistake, he got VERY defensive and he told me that he can't be responsible for damage that occurs during maintenance. I do the winterizing each year myself and I can tell you that the process is very simple, yet somehow they managed to screw it up. Ken used foul language and had very poor customer service skills. I was calm and polite about the entire process. Ken was not. I would not recommend having work done there. read more

Ken at Cascade Marine saved my family vacation, a camping trip on a lake that centered around a power boat running to entertain the family and kids. As per my usual I waited until the day before we were to leave to see if I could get the boat running. I fired it up in my driveway for the first time in forever and it immediately started puking oil and water from the oil cooler, out of a burst end cap. I found the part online--$350 and 2 weeks out. Called Cascade to see if they happened to have the part. Ken told me they didn't but to bring in the compromised water cooler and he'd take a look. I brought it in to him at 3:00. By 5:00 I was out the door with a shiny refurbished oil cooler for just $100. Boat ran like a top all week. Incredible service, super reasonable price, and Ken is a fun guy to chat with. read more

I got Screwed! in 2010 I needed a Fuel Pump for my jet pump motor. Was told the part was $400.00. so that's what I paid. What I got was a few screwes and a gasget (Fuel Pump Piston) What the hell did I know? I trusted them to be fair and being a 1st time boat owner thought I found a place that would not RIP ME OFF! Well, I needed a new fuel pump kit, which Lou at Lewis River Marine in Woodland, WA got for me at cost for $65.00 + his 10% mark up. I'll never let my shadow pass through the doors of Cascade Marine again. Takes years to make a customer, seconds to lose one. Beware. I have found that every dealings with the so called experts at large marine shops leve me feeling dirty when I walk out. They are either unable or uwnwilling to provide good service at a fair price. Took my Mercury V6 Outboard there 2 times in 3 weeks to get a performance problem fixed. Spent $750 and performance problem is NO DIFFERENT! Cascade Marine admitted the "next step would cost around $1000 and would be their best-guess". GUESS NOT! Stay away from them! They charge for "Diagnostics" they cannot perform! I purchased a boat from these guys this spring and it was a good experience, actually almost as good as it coud get aside from one typo by whoever does their website, one hour meter reading was off but by an insignificant amount. Pretty much a non issue as it was a simple human error and we've all made those at work. I live in Canada and had the boat delivered to the border, I was intimidated at first by the prospect of importing but with their help the process went as smoothly as they assured me it would, I was through customs and on my way in under 15 minutes. I had a couple questions and needed a favour months after the sale and despite them knowing they'd never see my boat in their shop or sell me any accesories (due to our locations) they responded very quickly and I was looked after. I contacted Daniel over at Cascade Marine Center to have him help me sell my boat. They were the company that I originally purchased the boat from back in 1998 (I paid in full upfront) and felt treated very fair. I asked him to sell my boat for $10,000 and we agreed to a 10% commission rate for the sale of the boat. He advertised it for $14,000 and ended up accepting over $11,000. This was back in May and has since received full payment including his commission from the buyer and he still is withholding payment to me. I have sent the free and clear boat title along with trailer title to the purchaser back in May. I can't believe the deceitful practices that he is treating me with. I am 65 years old and I will do my best to make sure that everyone knows about how he treats his customers. read more

Cascade service techs gave the boat a pre-sale inspection and offered to follow up with any defects or problems that may arise. Completely satisfied with my experience. Read through all the reviews of Cascade Marine prior to the sale. We recently bought a used boat from Cascade Marine. The mechanic verified the engine was "in great shape and had very few hours on it". We have had nothing but trouble with the boat including significant problems with the trim tabs and engine, which caused us to be stranded in the middle of Puget Sound the first time on the water and proposed $7K repair cost from a local shop. Also the title was not cleared for several weeks which prevented us from registering it. The boat is useless except for "yard art". In other words, the staff at Cascade Marine lied to us over and over and failed to complete promised checks and repairs before it was delivered. Be very carful when dealing with this shop. read more

BEWARE!!! This establishment is unethical and dishonest. I dropped off a boat for consignment in May. The sales manager inspected and operated my boat and sold it a few weeks later and refuses to pay me. The buyer purchased the boat As Is, No warranty and Cascade Marine let him return it 12 days later with a cracked engine. Cascade Marine canceled the purchase contract and expects me to pick up the damaged boat. Their policy seems to be to get as much as they can from the buyer and talk the seller into taking as little as possible for their property. This was not a transparent, full disclosure transaction and I regret ever stepping foot in their filthy shop. They do not honor their agreements. If you use them, get EVERYTHING in writing!!! Buyers Beware...the worst marine store ever. They posted a picture of a jet sled on craigs list. I called about it and they said it was in great shape and the motor ran very good. So I drove down from Seattle to Portland to see the boat. What a piece of crap. The pictures they posted were not the same boat and when I had their mechanic start the motor he could not get it started after trying for an hour. The owner tried to get a down payment from me for the boat and I told him he was a crook. Bought brand new 2016 Mercury 115/80 jet outboard. I had my boat stripped and prepped of the old motor to save time and money , so I thought. I was quoted $400 for labor, $331 for controls, and $85 for cables and would only take 4-5 hrs to install.....Plus I drove 3 hrs to get there...I was there at 8am and didn't leave till 8pm, plus the bastard charged me extra because they had a hard time installing the pump (jet), which was not my problem..My bill ended up being $1,104.65 instead of $800..Goes to show they don't know shit. Ken sure does talk good like he is the best of the best, but really sucks,..My control box when I got back and took it for a test drive fell off and was not even secured and I almost hit people on the shore from that, but Ken didn't seem concern from this. Stated his mechanic put nuts on it but wow I did not find any. The control cables are used and not new nore the right length, but he swear he only put them on a boat to demo it, and they have old grease and are stiff....Battery cables are 3ft to long and instead of cutting and putting new tip on they just hide all of it behind the battery box so I couldn't see and the battery box wouldn't close. Another major part is Ken knows nothing about a jet motor nore does he care...Know I have to lower the motor because I am not going back to this peace of shit.....I have spent over 3 hrs fixing there sloppy job, was way over charged and the business is a shit hole, and I mean a run down building , and they do no up keep on it.....Do not go here, Ken Is a great talker and will lure you in and rape you before you leave....Thanks KEN for the worst experience every you piece of crap....And this is far from over, somebody is going to owe me money when I am done read more

I was interested in buying a boat from cascade and I requested a water test. The manager Daniel I think he said his name was, basically told me that I needed to buy it before he would put in the water. Imagine that buying a boat before water testing it!!!!! I told the guy I live 3 hours away from Portland and didn't want to waste his or my time. Horrible customer service. They must think that they own the market in Portland. Stay away!!!! read more
