This outfit performed cataract surgery on each of my eyes. I paid them $2600 for each eye out of my own pocket. I didn't have health insurance. My right eye, has never been right (correct). If I close my left eye and only use the right, everything is a little blurry. More important, is when I am pulling out into traffic , and using both eyes, and looking over my shoulder, there is a depth perception problem. With both eyes, I see a double image. I had an amazing experience getting cataract surgery here. I'm telling everyone it was easier than a dental cleaning! And for the first time in my life I have 20/20 vision. The staff was attentive and friendly from start to finish, and I had complete confidence in Dr. Siapco. Every single time it's a long wait to get called in then after a exam by a inexperienced eye tech i have to wait another 45 minutes to see the Doctor. Very inconvenient and disrespectful of my time. I went here for an annual eye exam and the experience was comically bad. They had 3 people scheduled at 3pm with only one optometrist. We were all seen quickly by the techs and then ushered into a second waiting area with about 5 other people in it. After over an hour of waiting, we all got to talking and discovered that one person's appointment time was 2pm. When I got called, I notified the optometrist of that, and was returned to the waiting room while they saw the 4 people who should have been in front of me. The optometrist didn't get a break the entire time-- it was like a conveyor belt of eye exams. She was very nice, but I felt rushed through my exam and didn't understand everything. I would have abandoned ship if my eyes hadn't been dilated, but I was kind of trapped there. I was finally released 2 hours and 45 minutes after my appointment time. Other odd things: -they asked about general surgery history but not eyesight history of any kind so I had to specifically bring that into the conversation -the techs went into the exam room between patients and spoke at full volume about us so I got to hear sensitive medical information about myself disclosed to the whole waiting room... -I asked if scheduling multiple patients at the same time was normal or a result of being temporarily short-staffed, and they said it was normal. -the doc wrote me a prescription so light that my insurance won't cover it...but I have blurry vision and astigmatism, so I think the tech did something wrong in the exam. In summary, don't go here. It is a total clown show. read more

A "tech" with no obvious certifications or training does your actual eye exam. After sitting through what I thought was just an initial intake exam by a "tech", she announced that she was just out of training and needed someone to check her work. Another "tech" came in to check her work and discovered it was incorrect, in addition they did not correctly test by existing glasses. You then go to another room to see the actual Doctor for a very brief exam. I asked for her to confirm my eye prescription and she seemed surprised and a bit offended. If you want to have your eye exam and prescription done by an actual doctor, do not go here. Lastly, I paid out of pocket and asked for a receipt. I received a printout of the "patient plan" with no itemized receipt. Will never return and do not recommend. read more

Went to the clic to get my eyes checked. I've been going here for years and I often have issues with my exam s and their billing process as they typically push and eye refraction on and char for it. Everytime I go in I explain I get my refraction and my glasses elsewhere as they do not accept my vision insurance but they do accept my health insurance for my other eye related issues. This time I went in immediately started having issues with the customer service. I spent over four minutes waiting for their front desk clerk to finish up on the telephone. I guess she thought I can't speak Spanish because Im white. Unfortunately, for her I speak fluent Spanish because I lived in Spain for several years. I confronted her about her call with her friend concerning what they were doing after work instead of taking care of customers and she got angry. Next she wanted to take my picture for their records and became pushy when I said I value my privacy and didn't want to give my photo. This customer service representative was very rude and confrontational throughout the entire process. I also noted that the next two check in had the same appointment time and same doctor as I did. I wanted to know how they could operate giving multiple people the same appointment time with the same doctor and she only reported it was there new system. When I finally got to see the doctor 45 minutes later I mentioned this to my doctor he explained that they were working on some issues but there was no apologies from anyone. I'm done with this clinic and I don't recommend them. read more

Carlindo Pereira, MD is the best. He is very knowledgeable and very caring towards his patients. I never feel rushed during my visits and he always answers all of my questions. I was scared to have surgery done on my right eye, but he put my mind at ease and he has done an excellent job, I have 2020 vision now. His staff is also awesome as well. The clinic is very well run, the wait time is very minimal and everyone I've interacted with has been very supportive and professional. I've also received a hand written, thank you card for visiting the office. That was an extra special touch because they did not have to take the time to do that. I highly recommend them. read more

The professional staff is not the problem. I liked both doctors I saw very much. Maybe if you paid cash for every visit, Cascadia Eye would work for you. Getting glasses was a hassle because their hours are so unpredictable. They tell you "Come pick them up any time" and you get there during normal hours and they're closed. If you live nearby, maybe it's not much of a hassle to go back, but it was for us. Last straw for me was their billing. After six months I got a notice saying my bill -- for a date when I was never there, for an amount I had never seen -- was going to a collection agency. Finally got that cleared up, then the next bill was for the wrong amount, ignoring my insurer's payment after they'd received the payment. Finally the coup de grâce was getting a bill for my last routine eye exam for $185,000. That's not a misprint. I'd happily keep seeing the same doctor but I can't handle any more of their billing lunacy. read more

I have been going to Cascadia Eye for about 8 years. They are forward thinking and got me into multi-focal contacts (THE BEST). Dr Pereira has removed a large cyst from by eye, corrected a cornea that was creating a stigmatism and most recently did cataract surgery in both eyes. IT IS AMAZING! I have worn contact lenses/glasses for 47 years (yes my first pairs were the glass kind that popped out of your eyes all the time). My vision is absolutely perfect. In this time of covid finding my vision getting fuzzy meant I had no option but to make an appointment. And SO glad I did. The front desk staff were great and really good safety protocols. The initial work up by David was easy, smooth, professional and even fun! Dr.Siapco diagnosed the dreaded cataract and did a great job of cheerfully allaying my fears. He took as much time as I needed for explanation and answering questions. Kelsey was the person who escorted me back to the desk and was equally helpful and professional. Horrible horrible service. September 11, 2020 my son and I were at the front desk making his next appointment. The lady at the front desk instead started making the following comments about my son "wow he has such horrible eyesight" " "his prescription is so huge" "his lenses are horribly thick and starts to laugh" the laughing continues. Never once did she talk about making his next appointment. I left pissed, hurt, disrespected, traumatize, discriminated and much more because of the inappropriate unprofessional disgusting slandering that all happened towards my innocent 7yr old who didn't realize what was happening nor could defend himself from what was being said about him. -This is still not resolved and I'm working hard to do everything for my son because he deserves for me to fight for him because he didn't deserve what happened to him. read more

I had a traumatic bike accident and needed emergency eye surgery. The ER in Bellingham sent me to Mount Vernon. I walked into the Cascadia Eye Clinic very nervous, anxious, and still traumatized. From the gentle and kind receptionist to the supportive nursing staff to the excellent care I received from Dr. Kassem, I had a great experience. Dr. Kassem's confidence and sense of humor put me at ease and really buoyed my spirits. The follow-up instructions he gave were clear, and I'm having a great recovery as a result. I don't see Dr Crowell, but I do go to Northwest Eye Associates for my eye care needs. So far, their two locations, one in MV and one in Sedro-Woolley, have served me well when it comes to my daily sight needs. I have had some issues with contact ordering in the past. I've ordered them and they've never called me: months later I realize I never received my contacts so I call and they tell me I never came to pick them up... but you never called me to tell me they were in! But still staff is friendly and helpful and remedies the situation. Anyway. When I started having a weird pupil dilation in Spring of 2007 I was terrified. My MD referred me back to the MV office, as they wanted to check if it was an eye issue before sending me to the neurologist. I was rather dissatisfied with my diagnosis of "Well I'm pretty sure it's a manifestation of your migraines, it's rare but it does happen, if not it's something like an anerysm or a brain tumor." Excuse me, aren't you going to CHECK?! A few days later my opposite pupil swelled to roughly the size of the entire colored part of my eye, terrifying me and my co-workers, my boss sent me immediately to the walk-in clinic at my Dr's office who referred me the next morning back to NWEA for an emergency appointment. Much to my dismay I got the same doctor, and the same opinion. It wasn't until last December that, after discussing it with my personal physician, I was able to receive the MRI that gave me some peace of mind. I will continue to use NWEA for my contact and exam needs but they did little to offer me a peace of mind when it came to what was a rather terrifying happening. Please be SURE your patient's just having a flukey dilation (for months on end) rather than saying you "think." That is not very good patient service. I'd like to know that I'm not going to die, not be told you "think" so! read more

I wish I could give this location a negative rating score. It has been the most disgustingly awful service I have ever received in my entire life!! Prior to August 30 I ordered a pair of Oakley prescription polarized sun glasses. Upon receiving them they were defective. They had sunburst all around the outside of the lens. I called and spoke to Paige & she told me the glasses were made correctly! I asked her to have her manager call me and then Shaz called me to ask if I could live with that. I told her that it was like looking through the bottom of a Coke bottle. Again I asked for a manager to contact me. Then Becky a manager called me to say that there was nothing wrong with the glasses and that I had sensitive vision! She said the glasses were made correctly. I asked to have the glasses remade and she said that i should give it a try for a few days to see if I could live with it!!! The defect was so grand that it made me dizzy!!! And she wanted me to live with that!?!? Becky did not want to understand the severity of the defect. She went on to insult me and say that it was my fault, I had sensitivity to Polarization. After multiple discussions with her and her insults did she agree to remake the polarized lenses. They asked me to come in to get remeasured for the sunglasses, I did. A week later, I did not hear back from anyone, so I called to get a status update. They told me the glasses were ready. The 4th time in, they gave me the same pair of defected glasses with the same sunburst defects all around the lens!! I dropped them back off the next morning and Becky the manager called me to say it's my fault again that these glasses are all wrong that I had the option of getting them remade at my expense from Oakley and maybe these glasses are not for me!!! She then offered me a tinted lens in lieu of the polarized. Again when I asked for a refund she said no! She offered me to go from Polarized to tinted (75 dollars cheaper) She instructed me that no refund would be given! After a few more phone calls she finally agreed to have a set of tinted lenses & a set of polarized with a cheaper lens material be made to compare the two side by side. Again, I have to come in to store to try them on. I did. I opted for the tinted and wouldn't you know, that as the employee went to change out the lens & their etcher machine did not work!!! So again, I leave and no glasses!! She apologized which was the first time any employee had apologized. Mind you I'm on trip number 6!!!!!! This afternoon I get a call saying that my glasses were ready for pick up..trip # 7!!! I show up today crossing my fingers and wouldn't you know ....1 nose cushion is missing!!!!!!!They don't care about other peoples time! And will not admit any error or even apologize!!! I would NEVER recommend ANYONE to shop there! And I work for a co that only offers this company with our insurance! I've already spread the word how horrible they have been to me!! I only had to wait about ten minutes past my appointment time to be seen. The tech took my eye measurements and readings for my contacts. She used a blue light to measure the pressure in my eye, so happy it wasn't the puff of air! Dr. Van Nurden was very friendly and efficient for her portion of the exam. I need to return for another test, and the scheduling was easy. Since it was a medical exam, they are billing my insurance for that part and I will pay for the contact lens part of the exam. read more

I'd give negative stars if possible. The people that work there are nice, but the owner is a rotten, horrible person & it shows in the way the business is ran. She treats her employees terribly. One example is that she comments about being able to see their panty lines. She fires people when they ask about the raise they were promised months before. She bullies them & is just all around unpleasant. I've seen the same doctor at the MV branch for a few years. I have dry eyes & blurry vision. He always mumbles at me about maybe getting a prescription eye drop, says he'll have to check with my insurance & never gets back to me. They didn't bill me for a year after my last visit. And I got the bill 2 days after they sent me a refund for the exact same amount. Makes me wonder how they are still in business if they are that far behind & doing such a poor job in their billing department. Do not go there! read more

Six months ago, I had an eye exam and ordered my glasses at Cascadia Eye. I have a very high prescription so I need glasses when I am unable to wear my contacts. The first pair of glasses the prescription was not correct and had prism in the lenses that I do not need. I literally could not see to get around my house and my eyes were being pulled in different directions. The second pair the prescription was not correct either and I was unable to read anything at near and my distance vision was a strain. The third pair had rectangle distortions in the lenses that caused me to look straight through blurry patches as if there were giant smudges on the lenses. The fourth pair was sent back without me even seeing them due to the prescription being wrong again and the frames being damaged, causing them to need to be replaced. The fifth and final pair were also not correct, my distance vision was blurry and it was a strain to be able to read anything up close. After all this, I contacted Cascadia Eye and asked for a full refund. They wanted the opportunity to make them again for the sixth time and I said no. I was tired of waiting to be able to see. I returned the last pair of glasses before Thanksgiving and still do not have a refund check for them! I do not understand how glasses could be released to a patient that were incorrect that many times! I have never had so much trouble trying to get a pair of glasses made. I am very disappointed in a company that feels they go above and beyond for their patients because I feel they completely failed me. On Saturday afternoon, August 26, 2017, I experienced a sudden partial loss of vision in my right eye. There was no pain, and nothing was visible in a mirror, but the lower portion of my vision was blocked by what appeared to be a reddish blotch. My adult daughter was with me at the time and thought it was a possible clot, because she'd had the same experience several years ago. Her ophthalmologist determined that hers was a clot and that it would gradually diminish, and made an appointment for an ultrasound, which she had shorty thereafter. Hers did gradually go away, but as of 9/22/17, almost a month later, mine still hasn't changed. On Monday 8/28 I consulted with Dr. Pereira at Cascade Eye. He confirmed that it was a clot (retinal artery branch occlusion) and referred to it as a "stroke" in my eye. He said he would order a carotid doppler study. I was told that the lab that would perform the study would contact me to advise the time, place, and date, but this did not happen. When I called again, I was told that the receptionist was supposed to schedule the study when I had checked out, but she apparently did not. So an appointment was then immediately scheduled, which I kept. The tech was not able to tell me the result of the doppler study (ultrasound?) Beginning 9/1 I started having slight pain in that eye when reading, and light flashes after retiring at night. This still continues but I try to ignore it. Any kind of "stroke" is of great concern to me, but apparently Dr. Pereira or the lab doesn't consider my condition serious enough to expedite the study. If my carotids were full of clots I'd hope I'd be informed before one of them killed me. If this delay causes any adverse followup condition, there will be legal action. As of today 9/22/17, I still have not received any info about the study and have been put on hold by Cascadia Eye twice today, with an expectation of being called back with the missing info. But so far this has not happened, over an hour later. So I just called again, and was informed that the results have been sent and that the doctor would review them and call me, but this won't happen until 9/24 at the earliest and might be a few days later. read more

I found Cascadia Eye when I needed cataract surgery about 2 years ago. I eventually had surgery for both eyes. I was very pleased with the results (mono vision: one eye short distance, one long distance). It's been great to not need glasses again--especially since I do computer work for a living. At my most recent check-back, my vision is still 20-15. My follow-up appointments have been pleasant, timely, and the staff is very friendly and professional. Highly recommended. read more

Everytime I go to this clinic I am treated like a piece of meat. This last time was the last straw. On the prior visit I felt dis-satisfied with Ms Crowell s diagnosis (or rather her lack of one) so I requested to see a specialist & they set me up with an appointment at that time. Then after having dialated my eyes & without asking me if I was driving, or offering me any disposable sun glasses they let me leave. It was a BRIGHT SUNNY day. I could not see A THING! Then I patiently wait for the day I was to consult with the specialist (Theresa Thornberg) On the appointed day I rose early & went to the Little Mtn. Lane office only to be told that she was not coming that day as it was her operating day. My husband had dropped me off this time so I had to sit there for an hour and wait for him to return. One does not just drop in to have eye surgery so I assume someone must have known that this was scheduled before this day so why wasn't I notified before I went all the way to town (we live 30 miles out). I will never return to this money grubbing clinic. I feel all they want is to pay for their fancy new bldg & don't care a whit about my eyes. And they won't care about yours either. read more
