Had an incident where we called for a follow up eye appointment after an emergency for a chemical burn. The receptionist/scheduler provided some dates and times that did not work with our schedule as they were early in the day and would require taking time off work. She stated she had later openings for availability but refused to offer them while offering rude remarks about how this is more important to work and should take the early appointments. We were flabbergasted by this and responded with that we will find another eye clinic to work with and hung up. Terrible customer service. read more

Staff was great always court courteous and good at what they do from the checkin people to optometrist to the people who help you select and fit your glasses. Great follow up since I use one had to put my glasses on after about 6 months my screws come loose so they have always been extremely helpful in putting a new screw to secure the lens wasn't though it's my fault. I gave the all the insurance information when I started looking into getting the lenses replaced in my eyes. At the time of surgery I paid the amount that the insurance didn't cover according to the person that intakes the patients. Very satisfied with the results of the surgeries, and the after care. 3-4 months after the surgery I get a bill for $400 dollars. When I tried calling I get an answering machine. I feel this is a surprise billing that is no longer allowed on medicare. Then the bill gets turned into a collection agency talked with them and explained the problem at this point I can no longer get the payment receipt from the credit card company to send the collector proof of making the payment. My issue is the billing after the surgery, with no prior information about it......seems to me that this is surprise billing that is no longer allowed for medicare patients. read more

Few years ago went to Cascadia in Stanwood, doc and receptions were great. Then came the lady you give script to, select frames, then she talks me into getting certain bifocals, that if for any reason I don't like, they will gladly exchange them. Sounds like nothing to lose, right, WRONG. After two weeks, well immediately, I didn't like them. Wear them two more weeks she said. Ok to shorten story this went on. Finally, determined to get them exchanged, I go in last time. She is "helping" older to guy, whom I believe was close to tears. As he is telling her he didn't want his glasses and she promised to exchange them. I hear her saying "you need to wear them a couple more weeks" . He states it has been over two months, please, he doesn't want them. She didn't exchange them. Had I had money I would, I would have bought the old man glasses. I knew I would be wasting my breath had I stayed. I still have the worthless glasses, as a reminder how even " professionals" can lie. Hope that b..... Can live with the lies and heartless cruelty she did. Have the idea kick backs we're involved with every pair of worthless glasses she lied people into taking. Me regret, I should have contacted Better Business Bureau. Hope she no longer there, but I'm going out of my way although I live close by Stanwood, not going there for new glasses. I've not been impressed with the time and care given at Cascadia Eye clinic. I've been going to the Stanwood location for the last few years. I've always felt that the time and care given were subpar, but the last visit took the cake. First of all as I pulled up to the clinic there was a huge sign over the building saying to go to their new location. I did. It was still under construction. When I called the office, I was told that they weren't changing locations for a couple more weeks. When I arrived back at the current location, no apology was given, only excuses. Next I was told that the doctor was not the same doctor I had previously been seeing. I would have liked to have that made know when I made the appointment. Most egregious of all, this is how my refraction exam went. The technician (not doctor) puts the refractor tool up to my eyes. I see somewhat clearly. He switches a couple frames and I see less clearly. He asks me to read the bottom line. I do. He switches to the other eye and asks can I read the bottom line. Yes, I can. He says great, your prescription has not changed. I'm accustomed from my previous doctors to having them find the best and most clear prescription for me, not just one that I can read the bottom line reasonably well. My son's experience with the Mt. Vernon clinic was similar. First he was told they would charge him extra for a prescription that corrected for his astigmatism. Then with his contact lens prescription, the doctor said the right eye was similar to the left so the doctor suggested writing a prescription that was the same for both eyes for convenience in not mixing up the lenses. My son said he preferred the prescription to be the most accurate possible and didn't want to give up clearness of vision for convenience and to please write the prescription for the clearest possible vision. The doctor wrote a prescription. When my son went to get it filled, it was unfillable. The prescription was not written correctly. When he contacted the office to have it fixed, they wrote both eyes for the same prescription. read more

I called their office because I needed Immediate Care. I thought I had a detached retina and was showing signs of it. They immediately dropped everything they were doing it was late in the day and they took me. They did find a torn retina and spent 45 minutes on the phone finding a retina expert for me to go to that night. They stayed late to accommodate me. I can't say enough good about this place very professional, caring, and accommodating. read more

The receptionist helped to orchestrate the process of connecting with my insurance again thankfully since it's not something I enjoy doing... This place is as good as it gets. From the minute I made my first appointment till I was walking out the door with my script, it was ALL full of pleasure. All the members of the Stanwood staff was mighty nice and a pleasure to be around, however the one individual that stands out was Darcy. She didn't do (necessarily) anything special, but what made her a joy to be around is that you could just tell that she "honestly" enjoyed what she did for a living. I learned things about my eyes that other places just wrote off as age related. Darcy and the Doc listened to my ailments, explained why it was happening and told me what it would take to fix in. The Doc even told me about his experience with the same issue and told me what he is doing to correct. I really like this place. Even though there were several other eye places closer, I went out of my way to be a patient with these guys and will do it again. Some may say that Stanwood is in the "sticks" and a long way from everything, well if your looking for an excellent clinic to get your eyes checked....THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. read more

The level of carelessness was astounding; worst I ever had in 50+ years of wearing glasses. The temples were too short, causing pain. The lenses were made wrong, not matching the prescription, and staff never noticed. The glasses weren't adjusted when they were picked up and never fit right. Vision was worse wearing them than without them. I have no confidence that the prescription was even correct but will never know for sure. read more

Two days ago, I was near the eye clinic, so I just stopped in to get a card so that I could contact them later for an eye appointment. I was doing this because my last pairs of glasses that I got at Costco was just wrong for my eyes. I am a very busy business person (General Contractor) and I did not want to have to go back to Costco and deal with it. My glasses were about 10 months old. And I felt that at the ripe old age of 76, that maybe my eyes had changed in those 10 months. So I asked for a card and the young lady at the desk said "sure but what was wrong?", so I told her my Costco story to her. Well another lady who happen to be behind the counter heard my story and said it sounds like your "blocking" is off! And she just picked up a brochure and asked me to find the best spot on my glasses where I could read the small writing up close. I had to really lift my head to see it clearly! She said "yes your bi-fold part of your progressive lenses is in the wrong place" and again suggested that I take my regular glasses and my sunglasses back to Costco under Costco's warranty. However, I was impressed with her concern and open suggestion which was actually sending me 'away' from 'Cascadia Eye' clinic and she went back to her work station. So at that moment, I just decided this is the place for me! So I made an appointment for the next day expecting I would get the same 15 or 20 minute treatment as Costco! Well it was a good thing that I did not have another appointment to go see a customer as I usually do! I was taken right in when I got there which was wonderful! The specialist lady ask me tons of questions about my health and past medical history, then examined my old glasses in a special machine then she started checking my eyes. I have never, in all my life, had such a though eye exam! She really made sure about everything and even put together some special funny looking glasses (which I have never seen before) to simulate how I will see out of my new glasses! Fantastic!! So now I had to go to the lady who suggested I go back to Costco in the first place and she explained all of my exam to me then she made measurements for my lenses and examined my frames and agreed they were in good condition and then even made a tracing of my existing lenses so that the new lenses would fit my old frames. All of this was so 'special' to me that I honestly could not believe how much all the employees was really looking after my eyes and my pocket book. Finally she dilated my eyes and move me to a Doctor lady. She was very caring and checked my eyes out even more and explained in detail about my tiny cataracts and why they were not a problem 'yet'! So I have written this long review so that others can perhaps understand what a real eye exam is like and not like the kind you get from any company that shuttles you in and back out again in 15 minutes! I am feeling so confident now, that I can hardly wait to get my glasses and be free of the eye strain I have had really since I received my current glasses! Sorry I made this so long! Stanwood office called me during Covid to book my appointment in the future when they opened. Made the appointment for 7/1/20. Received a text message to confirm the appointment on 6/29. I responded "Y" to confirm. Got to the appointment and no doctor was there on that day. I showed the receptionist the text message and she responded it was a mistake due to Covid. Really? I informed her Covid doesn't infect computers. Asked if I need to physically call to confirm text message reminder. Her response - no, not necessary. How do I know the "mistake" won't happen again. Sorry, it was a mistake, you need to leave was her response. Next appointment available was 6 weeks in the future. I called the main office to speak to a supervisor. She was very apologetic. I could go to the Mount Vernon office this afternoon for an appt. Unfortunately, I had already rearranged my work schedule for the morning appointment. Myself and my entire family will never go to Cascadia eye again. They have lost our business due to the attitude of the receptionist. I was able to book another appointment at a different provider within 6 days. Previously, I had recommended Cascadia eye to my family and employees. Never again. A genuinely disappointing experience. I've been going to the ophthalmologist since I was two years old and have been a healthcare provider for nearly 15 years, so I have a strong base upon which to make this statement. On 2/26/16 I visited the Stanwood location of Cascadia Eye, upon arrival I was greeted by a hurried receptionist wearing an outfit that was inappropriate for work attire. The MA took me back to the exam room and had me remove my contacts, took my glasses and left the room leaving the door wide open for a number of minutes (leaving me exposed without corrective lenses).She then took me back out to the lobby where the eye sales representative said very loudly (so that others could hear) "WOW! YOU ARE VERY FARSIGHTED!". She then proceeded to dilate my eyes (in the main lobby) and present me with papers stating my insurance benefits that I could no longer read since my eyes were dilating. I was then taken to yet another waiting room with reading materials that I could not read. Finally to be greeted by the hurried, impersonal, ophthalmologist, Dr. Howell who I spent a total of five minutes with and who half way into our conversation said "oh, yeah, I'm Doctor Howell.". I had questions and concerns I wanted addressed but I was meeting her for the first time, felt rushed through my entire visit and couldn't even look her in the eye to build rapport because I couldn't focus with my eyes and thus engage with my doctor. When all was said & done I was happy to leave the gauntlet you call an "office visit" and get the heck out of there, never to return again. This is unfortunate because I was initially excited to support a local business. However, the whole layout (that had been recently remodeled) was very poorly designed. Worst experience ever. The staff were nice but the doctor was AWFUL. I have a very minor prescription that helps with driving and computer screens. I also have a mild stigmatism in one eye. This doctor mocked me because I said my glasses were helpful for keeping my eyes focused and from getting tired. The doctor told me that it must be "psychological" and said, "Well if you want to spend hundreds of dollars just to look cute!" She disregarded my opinion and experience. I have had the same prescription for years and my last doctor in New Jersey said that while not necessary, a mild prescription would be helpful for driving, especially at night, and for looking at the computer all day. I felt SO disrespected. She then walked me out without explaining my exam results and when I asked her she replied, "Well, I thought you didn't want me to talk!" Um, excuse me?? SO unprofessional. She took me into a private room and then proceeded to raise her voice with me saying I was the one attacking her!?! Oh, I had tears in my eyes the whole time and she didn't care at all. I called and was told that my insurance covered my exam. Come to find out it didn't because my deductible wasn't met. Yes that part is really my fault because I should have known but I'm not the one that deals with the health insurance in my family and I thought it was something of an annual 100% coverage. However what is not acceptable is that if you pay with cash it's something like $200 but if you use insurance, they bill it for $300! They didn't tell me any of this either but why would they... they just want to get you in. The $200 is ridiculous already but $300 is above and beyond. Anyways, learned my lesson and will continue back with Costco from now on for $99 which has always been awesome! read more
