Mountain View High School suffers from a serious lack of professionalism among its teachers, deans,…read moreand principal. Instead of fostering a respectful and supportive environment, many staff members handle issues poorly, dismiss student concerns, and fail to address real problems like bullying and fights. Teachers sometimes act unprofessionally by showing favoritism, enforcing rules inconsistently, or treating students disrespectfully. The dean and principal, especially Mr. Antony, seem more focused on strict and unnecessary policies--like the harsh phone rules--rather than actually improving the school environment. Their lack of leadership and failure to take student safety and well-being seriously make it clear that Mountain View is not being run the way a school should be.

Even with the multiple times we have moved away only to return, my son has always attended Evergreen district... I think we always figured he would end up here. He has wonderful friends and the teachers are excellent! Sure, no school is perfect but this school has some amazing teachers who inspire the students to open their minds. My son changed his career goals because of one of those teachers and now he is in Running start in full pursuit of his goals.

I also Volunteer Coached and ran Clubs. Parents and kids, despite any challenges, were always grateful to me. I had countless positive relationships with kids. I would report SPED needs and Gifted kids for years; reports and support was ignored. The School Board, Superintendent, HR and OSPI ignored my issues with discrimination and staff-bigotry and abuses and also denied me Equal Opportunity to Student Teach, despite having teachers willing to take me. My Masters was discarded. Nepotism and Favoritism: Coaches and family are given prime opportunities ahead of everyone. Again: Merits ignored. Sports, Money and Raises are chief focus at district; look up Education Stats and Salaries; follow your money. Silent Retaliation against me, discovered by Admin I knew; I was told and confronted HR... Suspended then fired.

I'm using an anonymous account because I fear for my job. IEP's are not followed, Students do not receive the support that they need and the staff are toxic. I've heard staff call students names, and make fun of other employees. The principal has even told black students to cut their dreads. It is not a safe space for students to attend.

First impressions of this school,…read more I'm a student writing this at rooted, this is their first year as an open school for freshmen, so far the teachers have been amazing and open to identity, sexual orientation, mental health, and more. I've been attending Rooted for about a month 1/2, and the education and student directed time is very helpful. I've always struggled in school and the teachers have not failed to help my education grow. Currently, the school consists of about 2 classrooms that are used as there are about 25 of us. There is also a commons room, then next to the commons is a office for a break room if a student is feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or just needs a break there are tools to help. There's also a therapy dog, he's in training but his name is potato. He really helps with anxiousness. The school is working on students already for next year, I'm gonna come back in 6-7 months and I'll update everyone on if my opinion stands, there's more to add but for now this is good. Side note - my teenager is the author above. From my standpoint, as a parent, I feel this school is a blessing. My student feels seen here and the staff are inclusive and respectful. I regularly receive communication from them and because it is just a small freshman class, there is a feeling of closeness, like a tight knit community of leaders and teachers who are working tirelessly to see that our kids are getting the best education and support that they possibly can. I adore the ladies who work in the office, the director is welcoming and communicative, and the teachers all go by first names. There is so much more to tell but suffice it to say that at this point, I would recommend Rooted School to anyone who wants their child to succeed.
