I called this hospital needing immediate medical attention and supportive care for my cat with FIP…read moreon Tuesday night. I had called 5 other hospitals prior to calling here. We had been recommended to call Great Lakes Pet Emergencies. So that's what we did. As I was explaining the situation to the woman on the phone, she cut me off and said "well we're still seeing patients from 5:00 pm. we wouldn't have time to treat him". I said "okay I understand, do you have any recommendations for any other hospitals that I could call, because you are the 6th hospital we've tried." She stated "well honestly that just the reality of emergency medicine this close to a holiday so I can't help you" I work in a vet hospital myself. I understand having bad days where you're backed up like no other and everyone is upset with you. I'm not upset they couldn't see us. It was late and they had more than enough going on. However, the lack of empathy and professionalism that was used on this phone call was astounding to me, especially given that I had just explained to her that my cat was actively dying in my arms. I could never imagine addressing a crying pet parent with such a lack of compassion, even on the busiest of days. I certainly hope that they treat the patients who actually do receive care at their hospital with a gentler hand.

After I sign in, the receptionists take me out of the waiting area as soon as an exam room is available. You may have to wait a little bit longer but I would much rather pass the time alone in the room with my cat rather than have her carrier be sniffed by dogs. Dr. Brinker and the techs have great bedside manner and really listen to my concerns. I feel confident in the suggestions that she makes for the plan of care and when I had to leave my cat overnight I wasn't worried. That is another service they offer; if you cannot bring your pet at the scheduled appointment time then you can drop them off before you head to work and come pick them up before their office closes. It is not the cheapest vet in the area but the pricing is still reasonable and you really get what you pay for. I've only started coming here 2 months ago but I will happily return as a loyal customer.

A week later while i was cleaning her i noticed several other bite wounds oozing. If they had cleaned her properly they may have found them and stitched them. From friendly front desk staff to the caring vet techs and knowledgeable, professional vets, everyone is kind and loving when handling the pets. Dr. Ann and Dr. Kevin are usually the veterinarians who care for our pets, and I cannot say good enough things about them both. Dr. Ann is a great diagnostician and surgeon, and she has spayed/neutered the majority of our pets and rescues. One rescue, Rosie, had been a breeder dog in a puppy mill for 4 years and was fixed when she arrived, but had lumpy raised scars as well as excess skin. When Rosie developed breast cancer, Dr. Ann took out the extra skin and scar as well as the tumor, and Rosie came home with a healthy, smooth belly. Dr. Kevin loves all dogs, but especially labs and he has cared for several and they adore him! When our lab Sammy got diabetes and went blind, Dr. Kevin helped all of us adjust to new routines, and explained how Sammy would adapt to the yard, and what we should do. Because of him, Sammy lived 16 months happily. I could share hundreds of stories about Thumb Vets, and they would all be very good!

I brought my rescue pot belly pig here for a spay Thursday. My pig looked like she got her butt…read morekicked with all the bruising on her head and legs. My pigs ears are severely bruised. Her head has a knot with bruise. Her legs have strap bruises as well. This office claims honesty, accountability, compassion, but I was met with a manager who claims this is normal, and defended the vet in question. They failed to also give me any pain meds for home, or IV. They offered half my money back, but I declined because I deserve it all back. This vet is anything but accountable, and compassionate. The guy who did the vetting on my pig should be fired for not doing protocol for pig spay. After I brought up small claims court for a full refund this manager then refused to send any kind of pain management or IV to a pharmacy. How compassionate! The vet that did my surgery guesstimated my Pig's weighed at 80 lb. You want to know how I know? Me and my husband brought the cage in with my pig right to the weight scale with containment where they're supposed to properly put my pig under anesthesia or whatever they use. My pig was apprehensive to get out of the cage after a minute because like any other animal we're at a vet's office with weird smells. It's pretty normal that animals do that. After a minute the vet said he would just take her weight after the surgery and then had her move to the surgery room which is behind the room with the scale. This vet office left my pig to suffer after surgery. And I'm pretty sure the phone call was recorded between me and that manager because that's what their phone says when you call. Whoever owns this vet's office needs to listen to the phone call between me and that manager, and watch any kind of footage. My voice will line up. This vet's office is lucky that animals are considered property and I can't get damages, only my money back, and money put into this whole situation. My pig is still in pain with the Thumb Vets compassion honesty transparency accountability. You are a disgusting group, and I will see you in court soon. Pigs do not bruise easy.

The ladies and gentleman at bay Animal Hospital treated us like family like we had been going there forever. Such personal and kind care was amazing! I had no idea a veterinarian experience could be so warm and welcoming. They treated us like family all the way to unfortunately the end of my dog Chico's life at 17 and a half years old. They were so compassionate and honest throughout the last years of Chico's life. I'm sure he lived longer because of the amazing care and personal treatment given to us. They help with his passing and gave me very heartfelt condolences when he passed away. I am so thankful for the way they treated both Chico and I! I will take every pet I am ever blessed to have to Bay Animal Hospital for the rest of my life as long as I live here. They left an impression on me I will never forget. I recommend Bay Animal Hospital to everyone! They will treat your pet and you like family and give the best honest care you could ever wish to find. Sincerely Thomas Hollis
