Trophy encountered a critical health emergency. I contacted TVS after hours service. Dr Ann returned my call immediately and verified she would be out. Dr Ann thoroughly examined Trophy and administered pain medication. Dr Ann explained how very critical Trophy's condition was and the only option was colic surgery at MSU. Due to Trophy's advanced age, severity of colic and acute painful condition I decided to euthanize her. Dr Ann quietly took care of Trophy. She was in kind hands. Dr Ann is exceptionally professional, knowledgable and competent - but also very kind and concerned. The peace of mind knowing Dr Ann and the other veterinarians at TVS are available for any after hours emergency - is absolutely priceless. I cannot even imagine what I would have done if Dr Ann had not come to our rescue. Thank you so much Dr Ann. read more

Thumb Vets are excellent! We trust them with our dogs and cats, and all the rescue pets we have taken care of. From friendly front desk staff to the caring vet techs and knowledgeable, professional vets, everyone is kind and loving when handling the pets. Dr. Ann and Dr. Kevin are usually the veterinarians who care for our pets, and I cannot say good enough things about them both. Dr. Ann is a great diagnostician and surgeon, and she has spayed/neutered the majority of our pets and rescues. One rescue, Rosie, had been a breeder dog in a puppy mill for 4 years and was fixed when she arrived, but had lumpy raised scars as well as excess skin. When Rosie developed breast cancer, Dr. Ann took out the extra skin and scar as well as the tumor, and Rosie came home with a healthy, smooth belly. Dr. Kevin loves all dogs, but especially labs and he has cared for several and they adore him! When our lab Sammy got diabetes and went blind, Dr. Kevin helped all of us adjust to new routines, and explained how Sammy would adapt to the yard, and what we should do. Because of him, Sammy lived 16 months happily. I could share hundreds of stories about Thumb Vets, and they would all be very good! read more

First off, Dr. Kevin has always been a great vet for our dogs. But we're very disappointed in Thumb Vet with the passing of our beloved dog Charity. The compassion of the support staff was underwhelming to say the least. A total lack of sympathy. Pitiful. We had her cremated. We went over three times that we wanted a paw print in clay. We were told they will do a nice job with her paw print. I guess we'll never know. When I went back a week later to pick up her ashes, everything was supposed to be in the bag. My wife and I opened the bag later that night and there was no paw print. My wife called the next morning and asked about the paw print. That's when the backpedaling began. Front desk had no answers. Manager conveniently unavailable. Finally got a call from the manager later that day and her "crack investigative team" figured out what happened. Was told by the manager that we actually ordered Charity's paw print on a piece of pink paper and they found it! So it was our fault because that's what we asked for. A lie. I guess it's better than just admitting you messed up. They did refund us $52.00, so that makes it all better I guess. So we have paw prints in clay from our past dogs, but not Charity. We can never get that back. May not seem like a big deal to Thumb Vet, but it was to us. You should be ashamed. As an Operations Director for a local agency, I would be embarrassed to be the manager for Thumb Vet. My staff, as well as myself, would never treat a client with such disrespect. Lost this little guy yesterday took him and 4 other kids to the vet to be dis-budded. The vet injected 2cc of lidocaine in his head and he died almost instantly in my hands. So all my goat friends DO NOT LET THE VETS DO ANY KIND OF SEDATION ON YOUR GOATS! They didn't even apologize for for there mistake,then billed me for the other 4. so far warning do not take you goats to Thumb veterinary services. Would not wish this on anyone, take a perfectly healthy kid to a vet then have to bring him home and bury him that same day because of a Vets mistake. read more

Today my daughter took an injured cat to Thumb Veterinary Services. The cat was most likely struck by a car and had obtained a brain injury. When my daughter asked Dr. Ann Roberts what she recommended treatment wise Dr. Ann Roberts stated "Me personally am not a cat person I like dogs. Especially her being a stray you wouldn't want to drop thousands of dollars for further treatment." My daughter was bothered by her callousness. The fact she would even make such a cold statement being a veterinarian is very disturbing. The cold statement basically implied the cats life was of no importance because she was a stray. That being said, my daughter was more than happy to provide a loving nurturing home for the cat. I would NOT recommend this doctor to anyone. In fact, she should have her medical license revoked. Dr. Ann Roberts should be ashamed of herself. I was unable to leave zero stars. read more

I brought my best pal, Otis (180 pound Mastiff) to Thumb Vet as he had several infected puncture wounds around his head from a run in with bad bramble down at my daughter place in NC. We met with Dr. Anne Roberts, who was AWESOME with Otis! He's finally on the "come back trail" after the first emergency vet we saw down in North Carolina botched the diagnosis and the treatment. The dog suffered all the way back to our summer place in Deckerville. Now we have a good vet in Michigan. Thanks Dr. Roberts! read more

I am so very appreciative of the Veterinarian for getting back with me for an emergency. With that being said, I was treated very poorly at an extremely vulnerable time with my children present and devastated. I was also told when my emergency call was returned, in the middle of trying to explain the emergency, that payment was needed in full during the visit. Then, (I am thinking based on my appearance) was asked what I could afford for the treatment of my pet. I ended up having to disclose my profession and tell the Vet that money wasn't going to be a problem, before she treated me with any amount of dignity, respect or compassion. I had been cleaning, cooking all day and looked a fright I am sure, but had an emergency occur. I didn't care what I looked like and also made that known. I used to go there for years and loved it there. Once into the new building, I had another experience somewhat like this one. I stopped going. This confirmed for me why I left and won't be returning. read more

TVS is the best veterinary service in the area. They care for all our small and large animals. Usually clinics specialize in small or large - but TVS does an excellent job caring for both. In particular we are very thankful that TVS has veterinarians skilled in equine medicine. They have been responsive to our horses needs... even late night calls. Long story short(ish): Grew up in Sandusky, couldn't wait to leave, left for the military, came home, left AGAIN.....and swore I'd NEVER come back. And honestly who could blame me? Well.....one thing led to another and I became homesick and felt like I belonged back home. So I moved back home. Again. At first I was thinking "What the he!! have I done? Why would I want to move back home to this town?" Thanks to my kids (3 pitbulls and one velociraptor wannabe chihuahua) I can finally answer that question. Through some conversations with a couple high school friends of mine I ended up bringing my four dogs here and I don't think I could have found a better place to take care of them. The property, parking lot, building, greeting staff, doctors, assistants........everything.....They were all awesome. If you live within a reasonable radius of Sandusky you NEED to bring your pets here! FYI: They do farm/equine work as well and make "house calls". read more
