Pizza had a funny taste and French dressing was different than most other Monicals near us. I will say that even though the pizza had a weird taste, it wasnt spoiled. It was also crispy, which is nice. Service was ok in that she brought the food but didn't return. We also ordered a turkey sub to go. We asked for it as we were trying to leave, but the cook said she put garlic salt on it and was going to make another sandwich. I was fine with taking it the way it was. She said the sandwich had sat on the counter for a few minutes so it wasn't as hot. I was ok with that. I then went to bathroom to come back 2-3 minutes later and the cook has been texting and still texting. I said please no just wrap the sandwich and let me pay. It's been sitting on counter cooling off even more if she was worried about the heat of it. I watched as she continued to text while wearing her gloves, finally she got to the sandwich and no touching the sandwich in the same gloves she was texting in. She make the comments about texting her boss because the ceiling was leaking and I do understand to communicate that to whomever, but take care of the customer. So my fiancee asks her for a hot pizza sauce side. Emma comes back with a saucer of pizza sauce. People...it was just as cold. Needless to say, we will not be coming back. I only gave a $3 tip out of a $31.94 bill because part of me felt sorry for her. Why not more if I felt sorry for her? Because I felt like she didn't want to actually go and ask. Whatever...do not bother. And as for the pizza itself? Digorno frozen pizza is sooooo much better and cheaper.

A large group of us attended an event called Firebird Days in Pontiac. One of the events was a group lunch at Mario's on a Sunday afternoon. This place doesn't normally open until 4:00 on Sunday's, but for our group (200 people came to the event; not all went to the luncheon) they opened just to serve us. They were friendly, keep the salads, drinks, and pizzas flowing, and all for a reasonable price. Usually, when I attend a pizza buffet, they put out the cheap stuff - pizzas very light on cheese and toppings. Not so for our event, the pizzas were fresh, hot, generously topped...and delicious! The owner even came out and told us a little about the history of the place with his grandparents and the original Route 66 passing by the storefront. My hats off to the owners and staff!
