I go by this store daily. I usually get my lunch at the Delly and I walk straight across to the gas station to pay. Today I was there about 3 and I noticed that a new girl was behind the counter, she's new to that till, as far as I know. My client, I'm his provider, asked for some weenies so I got two packages at $3.29. His card was .28 cents short so I went for a quarter from the leave a penny and take a penny container which I always leave change in. The checker at the till told me that I couldn't take money out of there. She stated that money was for the taking at the end of the shift. read more

I bought cut up cantelope, Chobani low sugar Greek yogurt and a bran muffin. My son chose an acai bowl and teriyaki chicken frozen meal. They have a super huge selection of magazines. I'm new in town and recently moved from the cities. I was recommended Cashwise for least expensive groceries, and for the customer service. First glance the building is a little dingy and dated, but that's fine. The lighting is quite poor, really bright in some areas, but really dark in others. The way it's setup is really similar to Cub Foods, idea of stacking and big box. The prices are insane, for example a box of Kraft Mac n' Cheese was $1.28; I've never seen a single box over $0.94. Even basic stuff was really overpriced such as milk for nearly $7, and even frozen pizza at $5.69 for a Jack's or Tombstone when that's usually $1.97 or $2.50 at most! Almost like shopping in a specialty grocery like Lund's or Whole Foods, except without the customer service, reputable brands or speciality items that warrant a price hike. I'm going to stick to Walmart at this point as at least their prices are reasonable. For example a box of 6 Mac 'n Cheese is $4.05, single is $0.94, and milk is $2.99 plus pizza is $1.97. read more

II will never shop this Store again! I forgot my loaf of bread there after i paid for my groceries! And I also got overcharged for something I bought! I went back to get a refund on overcharged items and to get the loaf of bread I forgot! They wouldn't give me a loaf of bread cause it hadn't been logged in or reported left there! The overcharged item was my fault because my more card did not take. I said it wasn't on the more card. They refused to give me the refund on difference. I go to this store literally daily. I buy donuts daily because our family eats them regularly. Lately they have been horrible. I bought some yesterday and this morning they're old. Says they're good until the 23rd and they look terrible and we have to throw them away. They aren't cheap either! Please do better on your donuts cashwise. read more

I remember when this used to be the Piggly Wiggly and then the Food 4 Less grocery store. Probably the best grocery store in Fargo, in my opinion. You bag your own groceries at a separate countertop after the cashier, which I thought was a great idea, though I'm not sure how many extra bags disappear because of that. Still has some of the freshest fruit & vegetables, though the butcher area is still smaller than I think it should be, as is the seafood. But, they have cheaper gas to the side if you buy groceries, too, and a speed checkout area for your drive up, gas, and grocery needs. An optician in the front, too, and service counter for things like newpapers, lottery tickets, cigarettes, and more. The bakery here doesn't have bad donuts. The back has a small hot foods cafeteria by the bakery, too, they used to serve this amazing hamburger... it was totally greasy meat with fries, but the key was a tasty bun that was lathered with butter and grilled beside the meat, making for a slightly crispy, buttery bun with the hamburger. I love this store because it is an alternative low-prices grocery store to Walmart. They have a wide selection as well as a natural foods section. They also give a 5 cent credit for each bag you bring to bag your groceries. I also purchase money orders there as they have the lowest prices I have found in town - 19 cents. They will also sell you rolls of quarters if you need them, though Walmart no longer does so. They have a balk food section as well. I also read that the employees are co-owners of the store, so they are better compensated that similar employees at Walmart and other stores. Finally, there is a recycling drop off station in the front parking lot, and a bin in front of the store to drop off used bags. read more

In Fargo, there has been a gross homogenization of all the grocery stores. This one is more like a Food 4 Less-type place in that it likes to "herd" people into areas, but most of them are overall laid out identically and resemble nothing so much as an endless procession of Super-Walmart clones, with a similar dreary selection. For this particular place, the layout was nothing short of a complete mess. Intuitively grouped items would be usually several aisles away, which greatly increased the in-store time. As we were only getting maybe $30 or so worth of groceries, this was greatly aggravating. The annoyance increased considerably when it came down to checkout time. That $30 I mentioned would have been about what we have paid in Salt Lake City or some other city not completely insane, but no, not Fargo. Here, it was over $70. That was the injury part of this trip. The insult part came when I was staring at the clerk, who had a decent pile of groceries built up on the conveyor. She started loading them back into the cart and when I asked her what she was doing, she pointed at a long counter with a bunch of those plastic bag holders on it. So...not only do I get to pay slightly more than double for what turned out to be largely inferior stuff (that was not national brands), but I also get the privilege of shucking out my own labor to bag my own stuff. Great. Awesome, but why am I paying you again? What are the higher prices for, if there's no service? It must be a pleasure to shop here again, but I solemnly and quite seriously told the person who took us there that I would crucify him if he ever considered such an odious and wretched thing again. Liquor section now open! Hornbachers is closer to my home but Cash Wise takes the cake with deals! Also, has very cute cakes ! ;) ... on top of their cheap prices on all items, they also have a dollar section that i frequently visit to get things for a steal! Today I took advantage of some deals on fresh fruit and veggies as well as in their Deli section. This grocery store has a flow that is organized which made finding what I needed super easy... As a grocery store Cash Wise is very good. They have fresh foods and great prices. The biggest problem I have is with their self checkout. Their employees hardly know how to help..if they are around to help. It is a slow process that is made worse by the lack of space sensitive scale that requires you to keep your items on a tiny pedestal if you don't to have to wait for an employee to clear you. I know Cash Wise did not create their self checkout but they allow it in their store. If they are going to keep them, they should be made in to express, 10 item or less, checkouts only. read more

I really hate to give a poor review, but, I do not know what else to do. Other than the occasional advertised deal not ringing up and me having to get that corrected, I don't have any issues with the store itself. I shop there multiple times per week, and even sometimes multiple times a day. I use the post office for business often and the people are always friendly and nice. I love the Caribou and the employees and go there multiple times a week as well. In fact, those employees are so good that it is my favorite Caribou in the area. But, none of this can make up for the issues I am having with one specific employee. She is an elderly lady named Ardele. She usually works early in the morning.Every time I go in she harasses me and my daughter if my daughter is with. When we would go through her line she would ask for our phone number and we explained that we can just type it in and she yells at us and tells us we have to say it out loud and then would ask us to repeat it louder.And, would just be super rude and try to argue every time we go through her line about something. We stopped going to her line. If she is the only cashier working, we will straight up go to self check out and so do many other guests. Well, this morning, I went to self check out and started to ring up my order. My daughter took a big package of wrapping paper that was bulky and hit the "I do not want to bag this item" button. Ardele comes quickly to our cart, yanks the item out of our cart and says once we ring it up we can't put it in the cart and puts it on the thing that weighs the item. Now it looks like we have an item we didn't scan and she has to type in a code and is standing over our shoulder trying to supervise our check out. My daughter looked at me and said"Let's go to the service desk". I agreed and I told Ardele we are going to the service desk to check out and that we are complaining. She yells at us"WHATEVER" and then repeated it again. I go over to the service desk and tell the lady there- she has long blond hair and glasses and is ALWAYS super nice. She helps us check out and admits Ardele is an issue when I said, I assume she is a known problem. I could tell her hands were tied in the situation and asked to speak to the manager. I think the young man I spoke to was an assistant manager and he was polite and said he sees us in there all the time and we are pleasant and that we shouldn't be treated that way and he will pass the information on to Ashley...I think is who he said-don't quote me. Anyhow, his suggestion is that when she is working I come to the service desk to check out so she doesn't harass me. Mind you, by this time, she leaves her register and comes up to the desk standing over my shoulder while I tried to complain about her...I told them I would be more comfortable if she could go away while I speak and they pretty much did nothing at that time, so, I continued explaining what happened and she starts yelling at me calling me a liar. I told them to pull the film and watch it right now and see who is lying. She puts her hand in my cart in front of them and starts messing with my stuff...for what reason? I don't know! I had already paid for it at the service desk, so, I actually yelled at her to get her hands off my stuff and she looked at me as if I was the one who is out of line. The manger then asked her to go back to her register and she did...but, not without saying a bunch of crap on her way there and then staring at me with her hands on her hips, so, I literally pulled out my camera to record her and told the management that from now on when I come into the store, if she is there, I will be recording in case she tries something. I don't know what else to do. This is the closest store to my house and other than dealing with her, I enjoy shopping here. I have seen her be rude to other guests and even children. I understand companies have to have certain percentages of minorities including elderly folks, but, if you have someone who is so awful to your guests, do you really think she should be dealing with guests? Maybe somewhere she does not have to be in contact with people would be a better idea. Sorry for the poor review, but, with my experience, I honestly feel I had no other option. read more

I don't know what the people who put one star reviews up are complaining for, really. Let's be honest: If you don't want to shop at Walmart, the next best place is going to be Cash Wise. Hornbacher's is way more expensive with most things (especially produce) and Sunmart is not convenient to my location, so I guess I can't say much there. Yeah, the lighting isn't the best and it has an almost Costco/warehouse feel to it, but I'm not going here to admire the artwork. I'm buying some apples and ground beef and stuff. You know? They usually have a pretty good selection, and the weekly sales are nice. The cashiers aren't always friendly, but I don't care. They've never been incompetent, from what I can recall. I also don't get the number of people complaining about bagging their own groceries. Yeah, it's kinda weird compared to other grocery stores, but is it really the end of the world? Sheesh, you'd think the cashiers spit on their food or something. At least if I bag my own, I can control how much goes in which bag and everything. Plus, my wife likes to bring her own bags (she's got two, so good job honey for cutting down on like 4 plastic bags), so she bags a bunch of stuff herself anyway. Listen. Cash Wise is definitely not the Whole Foods of the area. It's all in the name: Cash Wise. You pay less and it's all just laid out for you, no fanfare, no dressings. if you want people bagging your groceries, smiling at you constantly for no reason, and presenting organic, non-GMO, gluten-free food on a sustainable platter made by local artisans, you're not gonna like Cash Wise. Love the weekly specials! Each week Cash Wise offers a free item when you spend $30. Last week it was 2 free cans of tuna, this week it is a free wishbone salad dressing. The store is like many discount grocers, offering bulk items and generic options. And so far Cash Wise seems to have the best selection of health food items/products in Fargo. FYI - you bag your groceries yourself. Overall, the store needs to be updated, but I am planning on making this my regular grocery store just due to the selection and value. read more

The best grocery store in the FM area for the value. They always have coupons of things I actually use. Although sometimes it can be tough to find the things in stock that are on sale, they are getting better at this. I've never had any quality issue with produce or meat. When I want to spend a little more on produce, I head to Hornbacher's which appears a little cleaner and always has attractive men wandering around solo, but for a routine stop Cash Wise is great. This location has a bigger organic section, but the Moorhead location is much easier to navigate (and has the liquor store right next to it). Bring your own bags, because you do your own bagging here. I prefer it this way because I can stuff as much as possible in a bag to carry less and it helps keep their costs low. The BEST thing about this place is online grocery delivery. Very easy to use, cost is $7 for delivery in the FM area ($5 handling fee added on orders of less than $50), and food seems to be handled with care. Price is the same as other stores in the area that deliver, but their ordering process is much less complicated, in my opinion. read more
