Before heading out to get food, my sisters (who are 17) and I stopped to take a few pictures by the Fourth of July sign at the front of the casino. A tall, skinny white security guard with a ponytail approached us even though we weren't causing any problems. We were simply taking photos and walking toward the exit. He asked for my ID, examined it closely, and even bent it as if he didn't know what a legitimate ID looked like. He then asked if we were staying at the hotel. I told him yes and asked what the issue was. The only explanation he gave was that I "looked underage." My ID is real, and I was treated like I had done something wrong when I hadn't. The situation became even more uncomfortable when he and about six other security guards followed us all the way to the elevator. We were doing nothing more than taking pictures and leaving to get food, which we ended up not doing because of how uncomfortable the encounter made us feel. I've stayed at many casinos, and I've never been treated this way. Meanwhile, there were actual children running around the casino floor, yet security chose to single us out instead. I would recommend better training for your security staff, especially on how to verify IDs professionally and how to approach guests with respect. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I won't be returning.

Staid at Gila River Resorts while in town for a conference being held at their resort. We had a…read moreroom on the top floor. The rooms were nice and clean and well maintained. The bathroom lights above the shower did not work, they would flicker then go off. The tissue box was empty at check in besides the tissue rose made on top. There were issues with the "mini bar" sensor at check in and someone had to come check on it later in the week. We didn't get service on some days of stay even with the "Service Please" Sign on the room door. The pool is open until 10pm, however the pool bar closes at 6pm and they had people exit their cabana rentals at 7pm. The drinks at the bar were severely over priced and mediocre at best. We paid $43 for 2 margaritas at the pool bar that tasted like blended water with a splash of margarita mix. The umbrellas at the pool had to be closed most of the time due to the winds, which also blew all types of debris and trash into the pools causing a bad look. One of our party was double charged at the pool bar, and they expressed that they could not reverse the charge and if they did it would take 7-10 days to return to the card, but refused to give us the extra drink because they couldn't serve more than 2 drinks within 30 minutes to the same person...even though there was 6 of us in the party and she was charged for 3 drinks, twice. Which could have been one per person in our party. The mobile bars within our evening reception drinks were higher priced in there than on the casino floor, so we all left our reception, to get drinks and come back. Drinks were on average $4-8 more than at the bar at the casino. One of the girls in our group personal cards was charged not only for the deposit amount for the stay but then the remainder of the balance for the first night and then again for the rest of her stay, causing her bank account to be nearly cleared out. In which the front desk staff told her there was nothing they could do, and that it would go back to her card Friday at the earliest (this was Tuesday). As we were there on business the rooms were prepaid with CC authorizations on file for the cost of the room rate + resort fees, so she was left with no money to pay for food or anything else for the rest of the week, and they could not provide any help and did not have any managers on property. We were able to track down a manager in a different department who was at least able to get her a food comp to pay for her meal thankfully. We were really excited to stay at Gila River, we had heard many great things about this property and were were unimpressed with the level of guest service.

There is a large selection of machines and some table games, a keno room, bingo, and sports book. There are decent food options, including a quick-serve counter, a sports bar, a steakhouse, and I think a deli or diner style place. There is a large parking lot; I didn't see any parking garage or covered parking, but that may have been in a different section (important to remember in our warmer months!)

There were 3-4 young inebriated people that where antagonizing one of the 2 ladies since they sat down very close to her. She had 6 machines and was playing papers also. The inebriated young people kept pushing the lady with 6 machines personal bags closer to her so she wouldn't have much room to play all of her machines and paper. This went on til half way through se and session. There was a drunk boy that started calling both ladies f ing bitches repeatedly. The drunk girl asked if the lady with 6 machines had a problem with her. The lady with 6 machines was trying to daub her papers and and the boy said hey you f ing bitch. The lady with 6 machines said she didn't have a problem with her but would they stop pushing their bags into hers and stop touching her stuff. The inebriated girl started yelling at the lady with 6 machines that they were their first. The inebriated people only had 2 machines. They had plenty of room to play without touching the other ladies bags. But they were antagoni, ing her all evening. Thought it was funny and continued to touch the ladies bags and personal items. The drink girl started yelling MANAGER!! The manager came over and the drunk girl started a big fiasco with the manager. The entire bingo hall heard her. When the manager, Laura, came over she tried to get the drunk kids to move to a different table. The drunk girl yelled" Im not moving, we were here first", those f ing bitches need to move. The drunk boy kept saying to the ladies, "what you gonna do about it" right in front of manager and security. That sounded like a threat. He was threatening the 2 ladies right in front of security, who was being very friendly with drunk girl. The manager snatched the lady with 6 machines, snatched her phone out of her hand and told her she couldn't record the incident. She was answering a text message from her daughter. So manager gave her back her phone. That was uncalled for as the entire fiasco was uncalled for. There were at least 3 security guys around lady with 6 machines. The other lady asked if she could just move all her things down to her area. He said no, and you need to stay out of it or you can leave. Both ladies were trying to be calm. They told the lady with 6 machines she had to move all of her things to another table or leave. They didn't want to hear what really happened even when another player told them the drunk kids were in the wrong. They made the woman with 6 machines leave. They told the other lady she could stay out of it or leave too. After the lady left the drunk kids were laughing and trying to antagonize the other lady. She didn't respond to there potty mouths. She was dabbing her papers and the other ladies papers. One of the floor persons were very nice and apologized to her but she had to take all of the other ladies machines that she was watching. I was told it was because the lady spent over $400 on bonanza alone. And another $300 on machines and papers. They only gave her back the money for bonanza. In my opinion the manager that snatched the ladies phone out of her hand and all 3 of the security guards were very unprofessional. Just because the drunk girl was flirting with them they let them stay and the lady with 6 machines were walked out of the building. They should of made the drunk young people leave. It was not the lady with 6 machines fault. The drunk people were antagonizing her the whole session. So you kick out a loyal bingo player and want to kick out the other lady too, because the drunk people, who didn't spend a penny, got to stay and threaten and cuss at the ladies. Both the ladies play bingo and spend a lot of money in the bingo hall. Yet they were the ones penalized for trying to play bingo while a bunch of drunk young people were there to antagonize and see how far they could get by being rude and disrespectful to the ladies. I doubt that the ladies will be back. They have spent thousands on bingo. The drunk played nothing. But they were young and flirting with security so they kick out the lady who was just there to play bingo. I would be very surprised if lady with 6 machines didn't sue for manager snatching phone out of her hand and security being so stupid and took drunk people's word for everything because they were flirting. This was a very horrible incident to witness. There are too many other bingo halls close by that we will be patronizing instead of casino arizona bingo. This is not the first time security have been unprofessional and rude to other patrons. I've witnessed it 3 other times. They don't want to listen to what really happens. They only pay attention to those that flirt or those that are not white people. I myself am a proud black woman. The 2 ladies were white. The drink people were mixed. Your loss. 5 loyal gone

The gentleman at the front desk walked us through exactly how to get from the airport to the hotel--patient, clear, and genuinely helpful. When we arrived, parking was easy and check-in was seamless. The two gentlemen at the front desk (Rodney and Austin) were, without a doubt, some of the most professional, kind, and welcoming staff I've encountered in years. That level of service set the tone for the entire stay. The hotel itself is quaint, clean, and beautifully maintained. The gym was spotless (I used it twice!), and I appreciated the complimentary coffee available throughout the day. Small touches like that go a long way. What truly stood out, though, was the consistent professionalism and kindness of the staff. They also gave fantastic restaurant recommendations--every single one was a hit. I'll definitely be leaving separate reviews for those! Our room on the sixth floor overlooked a golf course, and the view was peaceful, sunny, and just what we needed. The hotel itself is quiet and relaxing--perfect for unwinding. I also requested a late checkout, and without hesitation, they accommodated me with a 1 PM checkout, which made a huge difference since my flight was later that evening. If you've made it this far reading--book it. You've found the right place. I would absolutely stay here again and honestly wish we could have stayed longer.

The room had several maintenance and cleanliness issues that should never be overlooked at a hotel of this caliber. The refrigerator did not work, so we were unable to keep our drinks cold. There was a strong sewer odor throughout the room, making it very unpleasant. The bathroom exhaust fan was not functioning, and there was only one small trash can available for the entire room, which was highly inconvenient. To make matters worse, there was visible dust on the TVs and countertops, leaving the room feeling unclean and poorly maintained. These issues reflect a lack of attention to detail and proper upkeep. Overall, I left feeling incredibly disappointed and underwhelmed. I expected a much higher standard for the price we paid, but unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations. I will not be recommending the Arizona Grand Hotel to family, friends, or anyone looking for a quality place to stay.
