Beautiful shop with tons of items inside. I found some clothing, tons of perfume and accessories, housewares and glasswares, decor, and children's items as well as paper stock goods. It was such fun to browse. It's a large space and has so much inside that you really can't see it all at once anyway. Staff were warm and welcoming and greeted us as we came in and offered assistance if needed. Pricey shop - but lovely. read more

Beautiful store and possibly the last place in C-ville to purchase one of a kind items for a wedding, housewarming or game night. With the resurgence of Mahjongg, the store is providing everything you could dream of for a special game, including magnificent sets by Oh My Mahjong. You need to see them to believe how much you need these. They took my breath away and Mark can help you Trick Out your table. Bottom Line: Lovely but pricey paper goods, stationary and home decor beautifully displayed. I am a fan of Caspari paper napkins because they have classy designs and are of good quality. The dyes don't seem to come off of them when they get wet unlike some cheap paper napkins. If I am not going to use cloth napkins when hosting I use Caspari napkins. I also like their name place cards, gift bags and tissue. I didn't even know that Caspari had stand-alone stores so when I saw this store at the downtown mall I was pretty excited to check it out. The displays are dazzling and it was fun to look around. In the end I didn't buy anything but I did enjoy looking, especially at some of the holiday decor. read more

Ordered ONE roll of wrapping paper in the beginning of december. Two weeks later still has not arrived. Shipping said 3-9 days. Website advertised overnight expedited shipping. My package was sent to the other side of the country. i contacted customer service and they did nothing at all to help me. Just told me that it should to me by a certain day ( it did not). i am one state over from caspari, they could have sent me a new package and it would have been here on time after i contacted customer service the first time. I've contacted them again and have not received an answer. If you want wrapping paper for christmas do not order it from them because you will not get it by christmas even if you order it 3 weeks before christmas. so unhelpful. never ordering from here again. read more

Stopped by during a trip to the area as I've loved their paper products for years. Beautiful store with lovely home goods and creative displays. Happened to be a sale so I got several items, napkins, placemats, holiday cards, etc. Spent quite a bit of time just browsing and getting inspiration for party planning. No problem with the staff who were pleasant. Although items are pricey, you'll love the quality design and unique items. read more

I've been in Caspari many times since moving to Charlottesville about two and a half years ago. It's the exact type of place I love to browse regularly or visit when I need to buy someone a nice gift. They have so many beautiful things, but mostly I'm drawn to the curated collection of kids books and toys in the back of the store, the seasonal decor items, and fun and unique collection of dinnerware and serving vessels. I've bought some great things from Caspari and have always been pleased with my purchases. However, if these purchases hadn't left me happy, I would happily never walk through their doors again. Only once out of my several visits to the store was I actually greeted by an associate. Every other time I have been eyed up, watched inconspicuously as if, because I'm not wearing designer clothes and a fresh blowout, I'm a shoplifter not worthy of their precious goods. Once, I brought a couple of things to the counter to buy, (proving that I'm not a shoplifter) the woman at the register began to ring me up and then unnecessarily commented, "Next time can you close your bag as you're walking around the store." I was flabbergasted! 1) my bag was a tiny sidepurse that was only open because it was so stuffed with my own things I couldn't physically zip it, 2) I am at the register, so any needless worries you had about me and my tiny bag are dispelled so you needn't comment about the suspicion you had. Truly abominable customer service, or should I say lack thereof. Very sad for a place with such beautiful objects to be staffed by folks with such little touch with reality, where they believe most regular potential customers who might pass by on the downtown mall to be below themselves. Atleast 4.5 stars for the goods in the store. 1 star for the customer experience. The business owner should really look into how their employees are acting. read more

Caspari is full of beautiful home decor and a nice collection of books, as well as some UVA/Charlottesville specific gifts. The items are all pricey, perhaps a little overpriced for the area, but pretty nonetheless. My favorite part of the store are the zebra finches in the birdcage on the left side of the store, they are so cool! This is a great store to buy a nice gift or dinnerware for a new home. read more

The beautiful Caspari merchandise cannot make up for the unpleasant sales clerks at the only retail Caspari store in the United States. We stopped by on a recent trip this January and the store was empty. Rather than being happy to see a live customer, the sales clerk acted like she was doing us a favor by taking our money. This was not the first time we had this kind of experience at the Caspari store. Who hires their sales clerks? Time for an attitude adjustment and a change in staff. read more

The goods in here are beautiful and very well-placed- aesthetically a wonderful store and I try to visit every time I'm on the downtown mall. Yet the staff has never been friendly to me or my family even over the last few years- there's certainly an air of attitude when you walk in looking less than wealthy I think. We decided to stop in Charlottesville, VA on the end of our Blue Ridge Parkway trip because my wife's cousin went to UVA so we wanted to stop and see her Alma Mater. The day we got in it was a miserable day with it being overcast and rainy. We stopped by the Charlottesville Downtown mall because we heard so many good things and this was one of the many places we stopped into. The store wasn't too busy but unfortunately no one came and greeted us. The vibe of the place seemed a little snooty and very high priced. We decided not to get anything here. read more

I have a negative review regarding this establishment. And, as much as I am not a fan, I have to use the race card. My family and I speak spanish everywhere we go, so we may get glancing looks in some places. Unfortunately, my wife, my sister and nieces were being closely monitored. And the staff exchanged glances and made gestures that translate to "keep an eye out for these". Yes, this is the South. But considering that this is a college town, I would expect somewhat more of an open mind. I could go on and on. I won't let their gesture towards my kin ruin my experience in this nice city. Nice ambiance and they don't mind if you are just in there to putter around dreaming of how nice your house would look if you had the time/money/inspiration. Love their sales too - stock up on cards in July for holiday season as well as pretty paper products. I even scored my favorite riding boots there on sale - of course the young lady thought I was using them for stylish winter/rain boots but I told her no, these will be getting nice and dirty year round! read more

I ordered several paper items for an upcoming party. When they hadn't arrived - I called. A lovely woman, Betty, handled my call and immediately was surprised I had not received my items. While she checked on the status, it occurred to me that the mistake had been mine. I had, in fact, received the items as my husband had carefully placed the boxes with Christmas gifts. Betty could not have been more polite or sweet - as I had wasted her time. The delivery had, in fact, been incredibly quick. I will buy from these lovely people again - looking for any excuse to be closer to our beloved UVA. read more
