    Cassa quesadilla with fries
    Andy N.

Clean, sensibly designed space with a chipotle-style assembly line counter. I got a quesadilla with French fries that had a certain kind of Mediterranean or Arabic seasoning... can't remember what it was called. They were both enjoyable. Oh, apparently avocado hummus is also a thing! They have that, too. Slightly on the pricier side, but the value is acceptable.

I can always count on stopping in and getting the best food! The soup is what I crave most, doesn't matter what kind, they're all good.

My former Moroccan colleague recommended this restaurant to me years ago, and I frequently enjoy eating here. MoMo's is a heartwarming immersion into Moroccan culture and cuisine. It always fills my belly and my soul. AMBIANCE: Open space dining room with a Moroccan flair - tagines, Moroccan arches, ornate plates, and camels. Your party can take a sit at one of the tables or nooks. Nooks have blankets and pillows for ultimate relaxation. Lighting is pleasantly dim with a few Moroccan lanterns overhead. The restaurant is usually pleasantly quiet. FOOD: The menu is very simple yet features the most delicious Moroccan dishes. The restaurant caters well to vegetarians and vegans, my friend used to join me for dinners (she's vegan). I prefer to order tagine (Moroccan stew) with lamb ($23) and Moroccan tea ($5 for a teapot, refillable). The two most perfectly combine. Moroccan stew is served in tagine. The meal includes a tasty salad and bread. Stew includes generous pieces of lamb, potatoes, and carrots. The stew is always so hearty. Moroccan tea is so delicious. It's a combination of green tea, mint tea, and sugar. Momo pours it in the most interesting and theatrical way. A must drink and see. The tea is served in a traditional tea pot. You'll sip it from an ornate glass. It's always perfectly steeped. The restaurant is alcohol free. SERVICE: Chef Mohammed (Momo) takes the time to socialize with guests and is incredibly welcoming. Momo shared that his dream is to retire in Morocco and live mountainside among the olive trees. So, you'll really feel the love for Morocco and learn about the culture. The service is just incredible! I highly recommend MoMo's for solo diners, couples, and groups. It provides a unique dining experience unlike any others in the city. Stop in for a hearty tagine and warm atmosphere!

The owner is sensitive to 1st timers by letting you taste items. He makes the bowl or wrap or salad EXACTLY the way you want it... No questions or snarky looks, but a genuine smile! I loved the shwarma chicken, tender and juicy bites as well as the 5 hour 5low simmered, shredded beef. The kaftan meatball was delicately seasoned and unbelievable! The taboule had a zesty tang, the beets were small chunks bursting with natural sweetness and the olive salad reminded me of a tapanade. I passed on greens, but indulged in the fluffy couscous and perfectly cooked quinoa! Yes, I had much more in my bowl like pickled turnips (yum) , roasted sweet potatoes and little tiny pickles, but it was all accompanied by homemade sauces I sparingly drizzled of jalapeño lime and white house sauce! This was an epic lunch nestled in the heart of CSU campus!

Things were good (until they weren't ). Grilled octopus was AMAZING, should have ordered an extra one for dinner! Now, ordered the bronzino à la plancha and the bouillabaisse de marseille. Looked awesome. The bronzino was soo salty my mother couldn't take it so it was sent back. The bouillabaisse was very salty from a few bites, but I didn't want to have to send two dishes back, so I let mine sit. Whomever the chef was that night was either just tossing salt everywhere, don't give a damn, or just doesn't know how to season food and that's not acceptable for any restaurant people are spending their money. Management that night, was very gracious, professional, and apologetic. They brought another bronzino dish and I just took mine home hoping the flavor would settle and I could Dr. it up (shouldn't have to do this from a restaurant of this caliber and should have requested a new dish ). Well, the dish could not be saved by any means so I called management the next day. Whomever the manager was on duty (a male) was rude and gross! I explained that I had barely touched it and would bring it back and would appreciate a refund b/c why would I want the same dish you have proven you have not mastered or even made palpable. I was told "he was not going to give me a refund" and they would (reluctantly) make another one. So, I drive ALL THE WAY back over to the restaurant from Shaker Hts. the next day with the salt dish. They made another one and when I got home it TASTED EXACTLY THE SAME, maybe worst. I was so disgusted with the food, wasting gas and time, and the manager's attitude, as if I did something. And what French restaurant doesn't have rabbit and foie gras on the menu!?! I came all the way from out of town to treat my parents and that's the food and behavior received!?! Won't be back!

(It could have been earlier but my 5 star review of this place 16 years ago is an objective starting point). Although I have spent much of the past 23 years living in various places outside of both Cleveland and Ohio, I'm a born and raised East Side Clevelander. And whenever I resettle in the area, I always find myself gravitating back to Algebra Tea House for the good vibes. In the past several months that I have been visiting, I'm happy to see the place really feels like a cultural community hub and an outright neighborhood institution. Over the years, many unique small businesses that have shuttered operations in Coventry (China Treasure House, Big Fun, Record Revolution, La Cave du Vin), Cedar-Fairmount (Nighttown). I'm so happy to see that Algebra Tea House is thriving and continuing to create a unique and inviting environment for the neighborhood. I love the unpretentious and lo-fi atmosphere and operation. I love the DIY craftsmanship that permeates in every aspect of the business. The food and beverage options are also quite good. Although I haven't been around for many years, I think maybe there are more offerings on the menu these days. I especially love the vegetable stews on their chalkboard menu and the foul madamas (fava beans). Service is lo-fi and very casual. Just place your order at the counter. It is written on a scratch pad. Sit down and be patient. The food or beverage will then be delivered to your table. Pay on your way out. Bring cash if you want to avoid a credit card transaction fee.
