She's been our family photographer for the past 4 years based on a recommendation from my sister in law and their adorable baby and toddler pics of their kids. Now we're hooked. I've had 2 sessions with Kelly at her studio in North St Paul. She did my maternity pictures and…read morethe newborn pictures for my twin boys. I was so happy with the results of both sessions! I get so many compliments whenever I show off any of my pictures. Before we had our first session, The Man was super skeptical; he was all like "can't your sister just use her nice camera and take some pictures?" I said no, and he agreed to purchase a 10 picture package. During the session, Kelly did such a good job making us feel comfortable and relaxed, that he actually even smiled for a few of the pics (he usually takes terrible pictures, like he's in pain or something.) She even let us bring our dog (our first baby) and incorporated him into a few shots. After the session, The Man was feeling better about the quality of the images we were going to receive, and he agreed to increase the package we bought to the 20 image one. (Kelly put no pressure on us or anything like that- I just really wanted to get all the images we could!) For our newborn session, Kelly, again, was so good with her subjects. The session lasted about 3 hours, and she was so gentle and patient with our boys that they would just curl up and fall asleep when she held them. She had so many props and backgrounds that I could have never chosen, but she knew just what to do with each outfit I brought, and added in a few of her own props too. Her pricing is terrific, considering you also get the copyrights to the images, which is so great for making birth announcements or Shutterfly books, or sharing on Facebook. Speaking of Facebook, you should "like" her page. She puts up a few images from a lot of the sessions she does, and it's so fun to see the babies, kiddos, families, high school seniors, and I'm pretty sure I've seen some wedding pictures too. Oh- she has a beautiful studio, but also does outdoor sessions, some of which are absolutely stunning! So basically, I can't say enough good things about The Silver Blossom, and you should for sure get your next pictures done here!

This photography company was hosting an event today for photos with Santa. Me and my family were so…read moreexcited to go as we have never gotten our kids picture taken with Santa before. The whole thing was dis organized and in my opinion, showed a lack of professionalism. We were first told to take a number to hold our place (waited over an hour) then came back at the directed time, and were then told they weren't going by numbers anymore, and that it'd be another hour or so. And the woman running it didn't seem concerned at all and told us it was free so we shouldn't complain. It's sad because I was looking for a new photographer in the Hudson area since we recently moved but this experience really turned me off. It's sad that it can be hard to find people who appreciate their work and can treat others with dignity and respect.

Senior pictures - Lisa is great at giving a variety of options to her customers and captures great…read moremoments. However, I wish she did share in advance that 4x6 prints are $37 which adds up quickly when you want photos for the whole family. Prints seem overpriced. My sister got her photos done elsewhere, and the photographer gave her the legal rights to print any photo she pleases for free. The flat rate is $250 which is a steal, but when you add in the cost of the prints, things get pricey.

I was very happy that she captured the mood of the entire event, from getting ready to our dance party! There are just so many photos to choose from; you can see in the photos that she takes pride in her work. You should also know that Tiffany has a Masters in photography from one of the top art school's in the country so you can be sure that everything will turn out perfectly. Some photographers have an overwhelming personality that can be too much, but Tiffany is just so sweet and easy to work with! She was silently everywhere at all times clicking away, but never getting over involved to take away from the day. Her level of involvement and professionalism was just perfect. He was able to…read moreaccommodate the specific criteria for the other country (Canada), which is different from the criteria for the U.S. AND, he did it quickly, at a reasonable price (just a couple of $ more than Fedex Kinko's, which took the original photo that got rejected by the Canadian passport service). Just an all-around good guy. I plan to have him do some other photography work for my family this year.

Friday Night Fish Fry! They do not have it year round…read more Lent only, maybe. This place might be getting a little bit of my River Falls bump, but it is not much of a bump. I have been coming here for years now for the AYCE Friday Night Fish Fry. Think they used to have it during Lent only, but their website says they opened it up in January this year so maybe not just Lent anymore. Met the Fish Fry connoisseur, Brian R, here along with his wife and newborn. A good time was had by all. $14.95 for the AYCE buffet. Four types of fish tonight: baked cod, beer-battered cod, cajun fried walleye and cajun fried tilapia. The only one I didn't care for much was the baked cod. Kind of on the cold side, but I think I grabbed the last couple filets in the tray. The rest was supurb. Like the sides almost as much as the fish. The Mac N Cheese, the baked bean casserole and the wild rice are all standouts. They also have a soup and salad bar, of which I did not partake of this evening, and a dessert bar, of which I did partake. Can never say no to cheesecake - some fruit topping would have been nice, though. They get pretty crowded. Told it would be a 25 minute wait, but ended up being much quicker. If you can, see if you can get seated in the bar area rather than the main dining room. It is a much more relaxed vibe.
