Being a new single dog dad scared me. I've been waiting 10 years to get a dog. I've always wanted a…read morepuppy but the start to this journey really scared me. Especially since I'm doing this alone. Mikaela at Horizon has really been there for us and helping me to be a supportive dog parent. Bohdi gets compliments all the time what a good dog he is. He's an English Retriever and I've had him since he was 8 weeks. Mikaela taught me the importance of patience and was really there for me in my time of need when I felt like I was doing something wrong (I tend to overthink and be hard on myself). She would give me guidance and ways to be more patient and to also understand that he is just being a puppy and he is trying to figure things out. She helped me to keep going at a steady and learning patience. The Canine Connection School is also really amazing and I love it. I just wish it had a section for new puppy owners or just puppies in general. Like a section of how to start off with success with a new puppy and how to stay strong during this hard time. Mikaela taught me the importance of check ins, how to be Bohdi's advocate, Bohdi's body language cues, and helping me with crate training techniques. Her guidance through Bohdi's fear period has also helped immensely. I know that going through Horizon may be a bit expensive, but this is an investment that you will have forever. It's like paying for college, but this is going into knowledge of having a bond with your pup and having a better understanding of how to be there for them. One of my favorite things I've learned from Horizon is that your dog is not an accessory. He is your family member. You are his whole world. Be your dogs advocate. Bohdi is now 23 weeks old. We will most likely go back for another session when he is 1 years old or later. Just to check in and see how we are both doing. I'm continuously learning and I count on Horizon to be there.

We've been boarding Boone, our Treeing Walker Coonhound, with Snuggle Inn since we rescued him in…read more2020. We recommend Cindy and her staff at the Inn without reservation. Like with day-care for our human daughter, we looked for a place that treated Boone at least as well as we do. In the case of Snuggle Inn, it's probably better care than we give at home. The facilities are spacious, clean, and climate controlled. When Boone and I came for a vetting visit, I requested a guided tour of the kennel area with no warning. I would have accepted a "not right now, we're cleaning or the dogs are sleeping, but how about another time?" Cindy said, "you know it will be loud?" and took me on a tour. The indoor kennel area looks like a household kitchen surrounded by concrete runs for the guests. Each run has a suspended bed that keeps them off the concrete and a door to an outside run. There were toys and blankets in many of the kennels from each guest's owner. There was no sign of animal waste inside and the floors were dry telling me that the dogs were allowed access to their outside run for the majority of the day. The pleasant surprise was that the outdoor runs looked the same. To me, this confirmed that the guests are allowed frequent time in the large play area to relieve themselves. When we drive in to the Snuggle Inn grounds, we seldom hear barking inside. This tells me that the guests feel secure and content. Cindy and her staff care about each guest individually. Cindy noticed Boone was losing weight before we did. When we took him in for a check-up, the vet told us the cause was dental problems that he was able to fix. Cindy is patient with Boone!s other health issues and his geriatric needs as he ages. She keeps close track of his vaccinations. This lets me know they do all they can to protect each guest from communicable diseases. Cindy is prompt to respond when we request to schedule Boone for lodging and there has never been a scheduling issue. Boone likes going to the Inn. He doesn't chase after us when we leave. When we pick him up, he's happy to see us, but doesn't seem to be in a huge hurry to leave. He seems to miss his "veranda" room at the Inn when he comes home.

I assume you were referring to the young lady that checked you in. She is our newest employee. She is fresh out of grooming school and young. Im sure she was unorganized and confused but she is learning a whole new job and our procedures. She is a shy young lady and is progressing nicely. I'm sorry if her lack of experience was less than acceptable for you. If you would have expressed your concern we would have been more than happy to have a senior staff member check you in. Next I would like to apologize for a groom that you found to be sub par. We would have greatly appreciated your concerns when you picked your dog up and paid. We would have been more than happy to correct and grievances you had about your groom. As far as the groin being shaved to the skin, that is standard in all the grooming facilities that I know. It's a sanitary service. We also shave the anus. We realize that your pet is extremely important to you and the money that you pay for its groom should be worth what you expect. But if you don't point out your concerns then we can't fix them for you. I dont remember the circumstances of that day but you must understand that everyone has their bad days. We would have been more than happy to correct anything that you found unsatisfactory but you didn't come forward. As far as the 'verbal assault' pertains, I think that's a little harsh. It's upsetting to us as a buisness to see a client looking for recommendations and then singling our business out as a 'do not recommend because I've tried them'. That reflects poorly on the buisness that we have worked very hard in to gain our great reputation. 20 years as a small business is remarkable, especially for a grooming shop. Again, if you would have verbally expressed your unsatisfaction then we could have more clearly addressed this situation. Its very easy to misconstrue the inflection in a written message. We rely on the feedback of our clients, both good and bad, in order to better our clients experience and progress as successful business. Im sorry that you weren't happy with your experience but if we are not informed of a concern then we cannot rectify the problem and make your experience better.
