Our dog loves to come here. The first time he was pretty scared and howled a lot, and it was really hard but now when we are on our way there he gets a huge smile because he knows he gets to go to camp! The people who work here truly love dogs, and the woman who runs the place is awesome. They have a lot of room and it's so much better than other options where they are in some weird indoor place all day. I couldn't bring him to one of those. UPDATE: My dog was somehow traumatized staying here. I'm not sure what happened but the owner insisted that my dog be medicated for her anxiety. It took 4 weeks for my dog to recover and get back to the happy pup she once was. Found another boarding place and my dog isn't anxious and doesn't require any medication. I'm not sure what happened at CCC. I think my dog just needed an environment with more people interaction. Linda tried her best to make my dog happy, it just wasn't a good fit. read more

Was "lucky" to get my 2 dogs watched over 4th of July. One is a 12 year old who has no tear production. She needs eye drops throughout the day. This was very much expressed over the phone at booking, via the paperwork I sent in and when I dropped her off. When I picked her up her eyes looks terrible, crusty and painful. I'd never seen them like that but I assume it's what almost 4 days without drops can do. I almost started crying the moment the young girl brought her to me. As we were driving home, that same dog actually had an accident (#2) in the truck. Ive owned her her entire life and she's never once had an accident in the car. Even after long road trips. I think it was the relief of being back with us and feeling safe. Once we got home and bathed the dogs we found our other girl had numerous little rocks in between her pads. I've never seen that but I'd assume it only happens when the area they were staying in was covered in rocks. I know so many love it there. People I k ow personally and love their pets. I can only assume this was a "one off". But I think for anyone who has an elderly dog, who needs special attention, this isn't the place for your pup. I don't say this to try to hurt the business. But I feel as someone with a special needs dog I wish I would have known if anyone else had a similar situation. I've gone back and forth for months deciding to review or not. I didn't bring it up to anyone there at the time, that was my mistake. But I was so upset I honestly didn't feel I was able to even talk to anyone calmly. Yes, she's been boarded before (two other places) and her eyes never came back looking terrible. In fact, they looked pretty close to what they do when I'm the one taking care of her. I really hate to write this review. It actually pains me because I like Linda (the one who runs Castaic Canine Camp) a lot. I started bringing my dog (a small Chihuahua-Terrier mix) there last year. It was fine all up until last summer. I'm not sure if there were staff changes or what but everything changed by July/August with the Castaic Canine Camp. I left my dog there for 2 weeks for a trip to Europe. When I got her, she was really thin, had lost a lot of weight, and seemed "jumpy." She would yelp without me touching her for fear that maybe she was going to be hurt. (She's NEVER done that before.) So, somebody must've hurt her there. I don't know. I thought it was my imagination. So, I took another chance with them again and brought her back when I had a 5-day business trip. When I got her back, she got kennel cough from another dog and I had to put her on a 10-day antibiotic cycle to help her get well. I'm guessing that they don't check to make sure people's dog vaccinations are up to date, as they should. (She hasn't checked my vaccinations for 15 months so I'm sure she's not checking anybody else's either.) As stupid as I was, I brought my dog back AGAIN (because I had nowhere else to take her) for another trip for 10 days. When I picked her up, she looked like a homeless dog from the streets. She looked like she hadn't eaten the entire time I was gone. Her stomach was shrunken and caved in. She was several pounds lighter, like air when I picked her up. And her spirit was diminished and she wasn't the same. For the first 24 hours I had her back, she had diarrhea and was vomiting which never happened before. She seemed so tired and sad for days and seemed like she didn't trust me at all. The yelping started again relatively quickly after I got her back from the camp and she'd flinch when I'd raise my hands up too fast. Something weird is going on with this place. I can't put my finger on it. But I'll bet if my dog could talk, I'd be horrified by what she'd tell me. And no animal deserves that! I gave up another business trip out of town just to stay with my dog at home for a solid 3 months just to get her back to normal. She still seems traumatized but she's getting better by the day. A year ago, I would have recommended this place. Fast forward to today, you may even kill your dog by leaving him or her there because the quality of staff and service seems to be diminishing by the day. Like I said, it pains me to write this review because I like Linda but as much as I love my dog, I would have been so grateful if somebody warned me about this place in advance...which is why I'm writing this review for you. Don't leave your dog there, not even for 10 minutes. While everything seems somewhat kosher when you get there, something is going on behind the scenes that isn't good...at all. And like another reviewer said, if you love your dog DON'T leave your dog there. Period! UPDATE: After I left this review (within minutes, actually) Linda called and left a nasty voice mail for me. She followed it up with a letter that she didn't even have the nerve to sign. I'm just being HONEST in this review with what happened with my dog, allowing dog owners to make their own decisions on whether to try the Castaic Canine Camp or not. I don't think I deserved a nasty phone call or a letter. I don't appreciated being HARASSED by the owner of this place for simply telling my story about EXACTLY what happened to me and my dog. Save yourself the heartache, vet bills, and the harassment. Just use some other place to board your dog. ANY other place but this one. P.S. If Linda spent LESS time making harassing phone calls and writing lengthy letters to customers with bad experiences while spending MORE time thoroughly disinfecting her kennels, checking shot records, and getting a better staff who actually LIKE animals, she'd probably have a pretty good place to bring dogs again. read more

Great service, friendly, easy. Only issue was our dog came back pretty dusty . We didn't see the pen he was kept in; they come out to greet and take the dogs and leash from you at that point . I'm assuming there wasn't a gravel area for him . Dogs sleep in crates inside . You bring your own food . They gave him a blanket( we already had one so we returns it upon leaving). Don't bring your dogs here if you love them!!! We had to go out of town short notice for a family illness. I left her with 3 dogs. One is 12 plus and has always hated other dogs - he's 6 lbs. I was assured he wouldn't be thrown in the general population. She promised to keep my dogs together in their own outside area. When I arrived my two little ones were in a pen with about 30 other dogs. He is now limping!! My other little o e lost weight. My border collie whose a happy loving dog wouldn't even walk to the car, she is filthy and was thrown out in a field with two other husky mixes. She was clearly left out all week!!! She has a dog bite, fur matting ( she was groomed before she went!), and her feet have compacted and like if she got wet and had nowhere else to stand. She's so unhappy!!! The owner didn't care when I was voicing my concerns. Tried to Tell me that was from playtime outside. It wasn't she plays outside every day all day and this never happens! Update: I wrote an email to the owner with the photos attached and requested a refund. I received a refund check in the mail within a week. But, I still say - save yourself the hassle and your pet the experience. read more

We have been bringing our pit mix up to castaic Canine camp since he was 8 weeks old. We learned the importance through Linda about socializing our Pitty at an early age. This is his second home and we wouldn't dream of bringing him any place else he gets love and is allowed to play with other dogs all day, it's like bringing your child to nursery school. Bruno comes home tired exhausted and dirty. it's adorable. And I love seeing him having such a good time. Her camp and trainers have worked with Bruno to help him be social with other dogs and people. I treat my dogs as my children and only give them the best things in life, and castaic canine camp is the ONLY place i trust to take care of my babies! Castaic canine camp is AMAZING!! Due to unforeseen circumstances, I was not able to board my dog during the time I had reserved. I had paid a substantial "deposit" of $350.00, which consisted of payment for the entire boarding term. Doesn't sound like a deposit, does it? I cancelled the reservation more than 72 hours ahead of the start-date, well within the cancellation window. Had I not cancelled within this window, the "deposit" would have been non-refundable. Hmmm. Seems the deposit is non-refundable anyway. Castaic Canine Camp refuses to refund the $350.00 deposit, saying that I now have "store credit." What good is "store credit," if I no longer have the pet I intended to board? What good is "store credit," if it lasts indefinitely, with no limit on how long the "store" can keep my money without my consent? The firm may go out of business, or I may leave the area, or I may never have another pet to board, or any number of contingencies could occur before I find the need or desire to board a pet there. I don't know anything about the care given to pets at this facility, but the fiscal practices are abhorrent and amount to blatant thievery. read more

This is by far one of the best dog boarding places I've ever used. Linda is an amazing person who truly cares about the wellbeing of each animal, and she has a great staff as well. Our dog stayed here for 2.5 weeks while we were gone for our wedding/honeymoon. I loved that he was outdoors during the day with other dogs and then separated at night so he could sleep. He'd play for days straight if he wasn't separated so this gave him a chance to rest. He was still exhausted for days after we picked him up and seemed very happy. The areas the dogs play in are dirt and I was dreading how dirty our white fluffy dog would be when we picked him up. Much to my surprise they gave him a bath so he was nice and clean for the ride home. I would definitely use them again. read more

Vinnie has been going to Castaic Canine Camp for almost 3 years. As a rescue Vinnie came to us after living in a yard on a rope for the first two years of his life. He was very friendly with people but he jumped up on them (which you can't do at 115 pounds). He had also never been in a house or on a leash. So he was hard to walk and was chewing things in the house. After a few months of work with Luis, Vinnie was leash trained, knew basic commands, and stopped chewing household items. He also learned social skills. Although he loves all dogs, he tended to do a lot of "body blocking" at first. Now Vin is a perfect gentleman in all settings. He continues to go to camp twice a week for daycare and to hang with his friends. He loves Castaic Canine Camp and so do we. 5 stars from the Cobb Family!!!! read more

We have used CCC the past 3 years to board our dogs when we go away on vacation. We chose CCC because the dogs are only put in individual kennels if needed. So our dogs get to stay in the small dog fenced area and play with other dogs. For hot days, it is shaded and fit with cool misters, or she keeps them inside the house. Our dogs sleep in crates inside her house at night. She is quick to respond to emails. The only downside I can think of...it's a 20 minute drive from our house in Valencia, so pick-ups and drop offs take a little time, but I know they offer a service for extra to come by your house. We just haven't used that before. read more

Linda and her staff are wonderful, caring, and extremely loving to my two dogs.. We have a Great Dane and a Golden Retriever who absolutely love being out at CCC. Whenever we get close to her property my babies are so excited to be able to go run and play with the other dogs who are being boarded or in daycare. She makes sure they are in a safe and well stimulated environment to get lots of socialization. Took our English Bulldog to board for the first time the other day and he didn't want to come home. Linda was wonderful and she and her staff took great care of our Bubba. I left my dog for about four days up there and when I went to go get her she looked even better than when I dropped her off. Linda is great! She picks up and brings my dog home, and he absolutely loves her. She tries to schedule him in mind with his dog buddies that will be there that day for him to play with. Her facility is clean, the dogs there are happy and well looked after, and she has a genuine love for animals.
