Seared Tuna Carpaccio - loved this and the combo of sauces!
    Laura R.

We read through a lot of Yelp reviews and decided to take a chance, and we are glad we stopped in. Located in a Holiday Inn, the restaurant was easy to find, has plenty of parking, and is accessible (no stairs). You can enter from the hotel and/or from the parking lot which is great for people like us who are not guests of the hotel. The tables and booths are a bit worn but are functional and clean. It was nice to see the place decorated for Halloween! We stopped in early on a Monday evening. No problem getting a table and the pleasant hostess seated us right away. Lisa stopped by to take our drink orders and gave us time to decide. She was great and checked in with us regularly during the meal. The hostess brought us hot breadsticks with real butter! We started with the Seared Tuna Carpaccio. It was cooked perfectly (rare) and was complemented nicely by the two sauces (red chili & yum sauce) as well as by the fresh shredded spinach. Great size for sharing! Salads came out next with house made dressings and fresh toppings. Lisa kept politely checking in with us without hovering. For dinner, hubby ordered the ribeye "rare plus" with a side of the sautéed spinach. The steak was 12-14oz and "cooked perfectly" - he ate every bite - and said the spinach was also excellent! My dinner, the Honey Dijon Salmon, had a nice glaze that flowed onto the rice and went well with the side of steamed broccoli with butter. The salmon was hot, fresh, and cooked thoroughly without being overdone. Lisa mentioned they do make some of the desserts in house (crème brule and the brownie - there might be others but my brain stopped after I heard brownie) so we decided on the Flaming Brownie. Lisa was busy with a few other tables but manager Jake stopped by, cleared our plates, chatted, and took our dessert order. Lisa came by with the brownie with 2 spoons, placed it on the table and used a mini-torch to light up the marshmallow! It was lovely and delicious - perfect size for sharing! With the relaxed, family environment, solid teamwork, and delicious meals, we would definitely dine here again when in the area!

Honestly blown away. Maybe my expectations were too low? Anyway I ordered take out, and it was ready within 30 minutes. Items I got were: house salad, seared tuna carpaccio, and seafood ravioli. Yes I eat a lot. The tuna tasted fresh and was seared to perfection. The seafood ravioli was covered in this slightly spicy, tasty, cheesy sauce, and the ravioli was not fishy at all. The salad was good too! Just not outstanding like the other two dishes. I will be back!

We arrived for breakfast and were told to sit anywhere. A young man brought coffee and my husband went to the small Buffett, I waited to order off the menu because I wanted bacon and toast, which were not available on the Buffett. After waiting 20 minutes and watching others walk in and be waited on,we were never acknowledged - it was not packed by any means and a couple of employees were walking around in their phone. We had vouchers provided by the Holiday Inn that this is located in, so after my husband ate a couple of bites of a waffle we laid the vouchers on the table and left. No one even acknowledged that- we did tell the woman working the front desk at the Holiday Inn- they pay some amount to provide the breakfast and we were told that we weren't the first to report the same issues. Shame considering we stay there annually when we attend Poplar Bluff Hero's fundraiser for St. Jude.

So far nothing I've tried here has been to my liking. From the ribeye, to the pastas, to their salads, It's like a temu Olive Garden.

The edamame was fabulously salty and tender and made a delightful start to the meal. The unagi roll was out of this world and was such a treat. I ended my meal with 4 pieces of smoked salmon sashimi which was rather disappointing. Smoked salmon is my absolute favorite as it is usually moist and cut right from a piece of fish. This salmon was dryish and thin sliced and quite salty-I've never experienced that before. Avoid that one but indulge in everything else!

I was attended by an excellent server--very helpful, humble and happy to help. Building indeed still seemed brand-new, though maybe a tad heavy-handed on the 'hibachi futurism,' if you catch my drift, but overall clean & pleasant. Maybe a little bit too-sterilized-feeling. But good. Food-wise, I indeed tried the Sushi & Sashimi Dinner, which comes with 15-piece sashimi, 4-piece nigiri, and apparently a salmon avocado that was never included, since maybe there was a confusion about me ordering a Salmon Avocado Hand Roll with it, which I was still charged for. Didn't hit me until I was out the restaurant, lol. Fish-quality could be said to leave much to be desired still, but for a small town, as aforementioned--it might indeed be enough to, 'hit the spot.' I'm not sure if this one's a #recommend or not, but be sure to give it a chance if you're around. Cheers.

The place is nice and modern looking/loud with the noise traveling all over like a noisy bar. The menu is good with something for everyone and we had a burger and country fried steak and I can only review the country fried steak. The service was that southern US slow but ok. I ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. The country fried steak was bigger than the average and hot from the fryer with a nice crispy crust. The steamed broccoli was slightly better than room temperature with a little crunch left in it and not total mush. The mashed potatoes were cold straight from the fridge for some reason like leftovers. My plate had chips on them that I would have thrown away in my kitchen. The water cup was a cheap plastic cup with a heavy a chlorinated taste in the water and not drinkable. Overall my lunch was disappointing for a restaurant with such a high number of reviews which I feel is fake compared to other restaurants in town.

It seems like a great spot for groups of friends and families, with a welcoming vibe. Our server, KK, was very friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. 1 Star -- Spoiled Burger and Very Concerning Response…read more My friend and I stopped at Fishin' Pig in Poplar Bluff for supper tonight around 5 PM. What started as an ordinary dinner turned into a very concerning food-safety experience. I ordered the Holy Cow Burger, and my friend ordered the brisket po boy with an extra order of fries. His sandwich did not seem to be brisket at all--it appeared to be pot roast and contained a huge piece of fat. He also never received the extra fries he ordered; the portion he received was no larger than mine. We had the missing fries removed from the bill. The much bigger problem was my burger. I immediately smelled that the meat was spoiled when it arrived. My friend smelled it as well. I took only a couple of very small bites and stopped eating it. I sent it back and, understandably, had completely lost my appetite and didn't order anything else. We told our waitress what was wrong. Unfortunately, she did not seem particularly concerned and mostly shrugged it off. It also appeared that the kitchen staff had not been made aware of the problem. Things became even more concerning afterward. My friend posted about our experience on Facebook, and the manager responded almost immediately. The manager then checked the burger meat in the kitchen and apparently discovered that the meat was indeed spoiled and disposed of all of it. That is a serious food-safety failure. I'm an older man, and spoiled food can potentially cause significant illness, especially for older customers and those with health conditions. The fact that management ultimately found the meat bad enough to discard it makes the situation even more troubling. An elderly couple was actually ordering burgers as we were leaving. I sincerely hope they noticed the odor and did not eat the same meat. Thankfully, I only consumed a couple of tiny bites. Hopefully that will spare me from any health consequences, but I shouldn't have to wonder whether a meal I ordered at a restaurant is going to make me sick. The food quality was poor, the extra fries were never delivered, and most importantly, spoiled meat was served to a customer. Even more troubling was the apparent lack of urgency when the problem was initially reported. Fishin' Pig needs to take this very seriously. Food safety isn't something a restaurant can afford to shrug off. I will not be returning, and I strongly recommend that management review its food-handling, inspection, and employee-reporting procedures.
