To go order! Asked for extra sauce on the side with my order Order of Spaghetti. Dissatisfied - got a pile of Noodles and a little bit of sauce/meat on top. Did not get my extra sauce. This St. Louis special recipe actually tastes more authentic from the grocery store bottled jar. Disgusted after I'm sure many people have handle the butter (packets), they tossed them in with my tough microwaved bread sticks and it melted everywhere. Disgusting to put the aluminum packets everyone have touched in the hot bread. Do better!! read more

We read through a lot of Yelp reviews and decided to take a chance, and we are glad we stopped in. Located in a Holiday Inn, the restaurant was easy to find, has plenty of parking, and is accessible (no stairs). You can enter from the hotel and/or from the parking lot which is great for people like us who are not guests of the hotel. The tables and booths are a bit worn but are functional and clean. It was nice to see the place decorated for Halloween! We stopped in early on a Monday evening. No problem getting a table and the pleasant hostess seated us right away. Lisa stopped by to take our drink orders and gave us time to decide. She was great and checked in with us regularly during the meal. The hostess brought us hot breadsticks with real butter! We started with the Seared Tuna Carpaccio. It was cooked perfectly (rare) and was complemented nicely by the two sauces (red chili & yum sauce) as well as by the fresh shredded spinach. Great size for sharing! Salads came out next with house made dressings and fresh toppings. Lisa kept politely checking in with us without hovering. For dinner, hubby ordered the ribeye "rare plus" with a side of the sautéed spinach. The steak was 12-14oz and "cooked perfectly" - he ate every bite - and said the spinach was also excellent! My dinner, the Honey Dijon Salmon, had a nice glaze that flowed onto the rice and went well with the side of steamed broccoli with butter. The salmon was hot, fresh, and cooked thoroughly without being overdone. Lisa mentioned they do make some of the desserts in house (crème brule and the brownie - there might be others but my brain stopped after I heard brownie) so we decided on the Flaming Brownie. Lisa was busy with a few other tables but manager Jake stopped by, cleared our plates, chatted, and took our dessert order. Lisa came by with the brownie with 2 spoons, placed it on the table and used a mini-torch to light up the marshmallow! It was lovely and delicious - perfect size for sharing! So pleasantly surprised! It's easy to overlook and underestimate this place, since it's attached to a Holiday Inn. I'm here to say that it's worth giving Castello's a shot! I'm talking to you snobby foodies too... I had the Seafood Ravioli with the side salad and House Vinaigrette. The house vinaigrette was really nice, tasted like it was strawberry infused which was quite nice. The garlic croutons soaked in the vinaigrette with a grape tomato, red onion and some lettuce = perfect bite! Commonly referred to as the most upscale restaurant in Poplar Bluff (which is tragic considering it's located inside a Holiday Inn). This place has it all, and it kinda shows in the quality of the food - the menu is far too big for all of that to be good. Decent pasta. read more

Well, first time eating at this place. We were seated and the waitress brought our menus. Upon looking menu over didn't see any drinks other than cocktails. When she came to get our drinks order, I asked where the drinks were on the menu and for some reason she got hateful and asked if we wanted another server because I seemed aggravated with her. No clue is to why the aggressive attitude was for asking about the drinks. The other two in our party didn't have a clue why she was behaving like she was. The food was good and she was a good server over all. But can't say we will probably be rushing back anytime soon. read more

Very friendly and quick service in this yummy Italian restaurant, right next to the Holiday Express. The dining room was closed but the full menu was available in the bar. There is nothing better than the smell of garlic being sautéed in a pan wafting from the kitchen. The portion sizes were large and the prices very reasonable. read more

I honestly just had the best fish I have ever had in my life!!!! I would have pictures but once I picked up my fork (no knife needed) I never set it back down. I had the blackened grouper and shrimp served over sweet onions and mushrooms. I honestly don't know how they did it. After the grouper you could eat the onions by themselves. The fish was flaky and tender and then having it on the sautéed onions and mushrooms was just, I can't even describe. I live 3 1/2 hours from here but just texted my wife that we are road-tripping when I have enough IHG points just to have fish. Literally blown away how good it is. 2nd time here and there is always a big crowd. 1st time in my life I actually asked the server to tell the chef it was one of the best meals I've ever had. FYI I set my fork down 3-4 times only to pick it up and scoop a few more mushrooms and onions. Didn't even mention the shrimp. Big sized and good as well. Saluti to Catello's! read more

Honestly blown away. Maybe my expectations were too low? Anyway I ordered take out, and it was ready within 30 minutes. Items I got were: house salad, seared tuna carpaccio, and seafood ravioli. Yes I eat a lot. The tuna tasted fresh and was seared to perfection. The seafood ravioli was covered in this slightly spicy, tasty, cheesy sauce, and the ravioli was not fishy at all. Started off with the House Red Blend Wine - very decent at a reasonable price, and the Whiskey Lobotomizer. Friday & Saturday nights feature a Prime Rib Special with your choice of cuts. Get it! You will not be disappointed. We also tried the Ribeye. Both were cooked perfectly as ordered. The chosen sides of broccoli and pasta Alfredo exceeded expectations. We arrived for breakfast and were told to sit anywhere. A young man brought coffee and my husband went to the small Buffett, I waited to order off the menu because I wanted bacon and toast, which were not available on the Buffett. After waiting 20 minutes and watching others walk in and be waited on,we were never acknowledged - it was not packed by any means and a couple of employees were walking around in their phone. We had vouchers provided by the Holiday Inn that this is located in, so after my husband ate a couple of bites of a waffle we laid the vouchers on the table and left. No one even acknowledged that- we did tell the woman working the front desk at the Holiday Inn- they pay some amount to provide the breakfast and we were told that we weren't the first to report the same issues. This place is terrible! They completely messed up my order and when asked to remake it they took the fish off of the plate and replaced with chicken. My rice still had a very fishy taste. My partner ordered shrimp scampi and found a wire bristle in his food. The sever took his plate and told him he'd remake it. An hour went by and he still hadn't got his food. The sever forgot to to reorder it! By this time the place was getting busy. It took an additional 30 mins to get the food. I asked him to take the shrimp scampi off of our ticket as I didn't want it anymore. He refused to take it off the ticket because they didn't have a manager on duty to do so. I truly did not expect much from this restaurant as it is in a small town attached to a holiday inn. I was exceedingly surprised. The food was great. I've eaten in a lot of Italian restaurants both chain and privately owned. This was one of the best. If they were located on the hill in STL I would still pick it to eat at. The prices are a bit high for restaurants in the area...but not for comparable quality. Portion sizes were large. I eat a lot and the lasagna was enough for 2 meals. Located on the first floor of the holiday inn, Castello's was an okay spot to stop and eat dinner. All of the dishes were over salted that my table received. The pizza was all cheese and no substance so I do not recommend ordering that and also the seafood ravioli contained minimal seafood. The sauce in the seafood ravioli is good but again very salty. Our party of 4 included my 89 year old Mother. We were dining the evening before Mother's Day and found them to be setting up for the "next" round of diners. We were seated immediately but we're informed it would be a bit before we got our silverware. That was fine with us as it gave us time to order drinks and look over the menu. Our table had the lasagna, the Alfredo, the cannelloni as well as a dish I could not pronounce but really enjoyed. It's had penne pasta with tomatoes, artichoke hearts, and broccoli with a spicy tomato cream sauce (hold the mushrooms. Three of us had plenty to carry home, the dishes were very large. All together a very good meal. I subtracted 1 star simply because of not being prepared for the early Mother's Day diners. We will definitely return! read more

Castello's does a good job with there dinners. We stayed here in late August 2019 & had dinner here & we enjoyed the food & the service. Very friendly. We had the ziti & the eggplant parm. The food cane out hot & delicious. We are staying at the Holiday Inn where Castello's is located & tried the Tomahawk Steak for two & it was cooked to perfection as we like it. Charred on the outside & medium rare on the inside. We had the sautéed mushrooms and they were excellent. The service is great. Drinks are affordable with dinner. read more
