Our project remains uncompleted with a mudroom without a roof, despite us having paid the full amount of $13,000 for the project. What is most unacceptable is the complete breakdown of communication. Over the past few months, we have placed numerous calls and sent multiple emails; however, they have become entirely unresponsive, only occasionally replying to give us false completion dates. We were promised a timely and professional service, and instead, we are left with an unfinished job and a vendor who has essentially abandoned the project. This lack of accountability and disregard for a paying client is alarming. I cannot recommend Senco Home Services to anyone who values clear communication and project completion. Avoid the stress and look elsewhere.

In January 2023 I signed a contract for a new roof and in April paid the $4,900 deposit, but I…read morenever heard back about the install date despite repeated attempts to contact them. On May 27, 2023, I notified them that I had filed a Fraud Claim with my Bank to recoup the deposit, and that got their attention and they scheduled the installation for early July. There was minor damage done to an attic fan and a gutter issue they were supposed to fix during the installation. In October 2023 there was a (new) significant leak that caused over $1,000 in interior damage. They finally sent someone to fix the roofing issue but never sent the electrician to fix the fan. In February 2024, Chris showed up and explained what else he was going to do to fix the leak issue including re-routing a gutter and making a downspout larger. Between July 5, 2023 and May 15, 2024, I sent dozens of emails and texts and made multiple phone calls to three people at SENCO. In May 2024 I threatened to file claims here, with the Better Business Bureau, and the Tewksbury Chamber of Commerce. Within days they called me to say they would be by within the week to make things right. I haven't heard from them since. If you hire SENCO, expect to pay out of pocket for any damages.

Lisa and her team renovated our unfinished, concrete-slab of a basement into a great hang-out…read morespot. It was on budget, on time, and they were always responsive to our concerns. We appreciated that Lisa had the creativity to make suggestions we hadn't thought of - even ones that would save us money! For instance, that we should use mirrored closet doors instead of doing a closet space and then separately installing mirrors, which would have cost us more. She patiently went through the different materials, which are all basement-specific to prevent mold, gave us a copy of the plan, and was very responsive by phone and text. Every person from her team who we met was friendly and did good work, paying attention to detail, making sure they cleaned up after themselves. If we wanted more information, it was really easy to call or text Lisa or our project manager, Joel. On the final inspection, Joel caught some things that we hadn't even caught, and he made sure it was fixed the next week. That spoke volumes to us, because they weren't going to be paid until they finished, and here he was pointing out things that he wanted to make sure they fixed, which delayed their getting paid! As to the first reviewer's review -- when I first contacted Lisa, I was also suspicious by the number of questions. But she's just trying to get a full idea of what you want so she can get you a close-enough quote on the phone, and you can both determine whether it's worth your time (and hers) for her to drive out to your house. But don't let that quote necessarily scare you - ours ended up being lower once she came and was able to see and measure out the space in person, because I am bad at estimating square footage and forgot some details (like that the ceiling was already done previously). And yeah, there will probably be a wait, but there was a wait with all of her competitors too. Lisa actually slotted us in earlier when she had another client delay their project, which we appreciated! And don't be afraid to shop around -- Lisa is fair, she'll tell you about her competitors, and she was totally open about giving us their names and we did actually follow up with them and got quotes too. In the end, what made us go with Lisa and her team were that we could tell that they were knowledgeable, their basement-specific materials fit our aesthetics much better, but mostly importantly they had SO MANY references -- we contacted a lot of them and they were ALL pleased and had nothing but good reports, whereas her competitors' references did give us reason to hesitate (word of advice: definitely ask about payment structures at each contractor, because it makes a difference to how well they finish the project for you). I'm happy to have supported a woman-run business, and we are really pleased with how our basement turned out.

I don't have to deal with arrogant straight men who talk down to me about construction." So I called her to see if I could get them to look at my property to give an estimate. A woman answered. I assumed she was the owner since she seemed very invested and asked me very detailed questions about the project. I didn't mind at first because I figured she just wanted more information as to give me a proper quote. But then at the end, she said to me, "Well...I don't know. We're pretty busy right now. We're booking into April (5 months away). I could have him call you if something comes up." First of all, why are you having "him" call me to discuss business like it's 1957 if this is a woman owned and operated establishment?? Secondly, don't waste my time by asking me a bunch of questions like a pathetic first date if you're not going to start work for 5 months. And, now instead of dealing with some arrogant straight man, I had to deal with an arrogant straight woman, or I assumed she's straight because she had one of those annoying, high pitched kindergarten teacher voices... This place is ridiculously arrogant and shady. This proud Gaysian will take his proud money and spend it on a true minority owned business!

The house is 123 years old, it's three stories high, and one side of it directly abuts a neighbor's driveway. All of these things make it very challenging to work on. Over the course of only five days, Scott and his team completed all of the repairs and painting. They were always professional, courteous, and willing to answer our questions. And they were very respectful to our neighbors while working in their driveway, being extremely careful to protect and clean up their property. The stairs were tricky due to existing structures (old house) but they figured out the best approach and executed it beautifully. PBS handled the permit, the check for gas/water lines, and multiple inspections. All I had to do was make a couple decisions when presented with options, and then sit back and relax.
