"Tell me how much you can afford per month..." I know that scam and you know that scam and I really thought that when my wife and I came into this dealership, we were prepared for all of it and many other tricks. Part of the problem was that our family was down to one car and we needed a replacement ASAP. It's hard to be diligent when you put too much pressure on yourself. We could've stuck with the rental car for another week for a few hundred bucks, to ensure we didn't get robbed a thousand bucks or more. My wife is a really good BS detector and she's not afraid to call it out. She was argued about how there was a lease promotion on the website and the dealership claimed that it only applied if we paid for the LoJack. They made the numbers work, so while it was odd, we didn't dig too deep. For the smart ones out there, you know this already, but for those unaware (like us), take the time to google "Do I need to pay for a dealer pre-installed LoJack?". We were too trusting, as the people we worked with were polite and patient. We liked the salesperson we worked with as he was kind and conversational, but we fell for the scams once we got to the paperwork and the finance person pulled some trickery that I didn't quite comprehend until I had the time to process. We love our Kia and we got it at a price that we feel was roughly in line with other dealerships, sort of. The problem is that we learned some things through this process and we think we could've saved $1000s off of what we ended up with. I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending this dealership to anyone. Maybe if you're smart and savvy and know the game well, but if you're looking for some honest brokers, go somewhere else. read more

The background: I'm a veteran of buying vehicles from out of state, as I've done so my entire life, covering about a dozen cars. I know the tricks and I know the pitfalls. I found the car I was looking for and so reached out to Castle Kia to discuss. The beginning: I had an excellent time with communications between the numerous (and I mean numerous) customer service reps and sales people during the first couple of days when working out a deal. They were very responsive and we managed to find a workable number for all parties. I'm not easily impressed, but in this case I truly was. The middle: Here's where things went down the path of "oh yeah, used car dealership. Where have we heard this one before?" Right before it was time to seal the deal, the GM, Jordan Suchowski, started playing games with the final price, working every angle to try and squeeze a few hundred more dollars out of me, eventually insinuating a "take it or leave it" demeanor. Given the car was the exact one I wanted, I chose to eat the three hundred and move on with my life. Things went really badly when I flew in to O'Hare and found myself stranded at the airport: Jordan didn't bother to tell my final salesperson to pick me up. After a few phone calls to the dealership, each escalating in tone to get someone to pick me up, they found my final salesman (I'd gone through no less than 4 people during the transaction) and ordered him to get in a vehicle and come get me. Nice. Customer. Service. My sales guy was apologetic, but he got thrown under the bus by his bosses, and did anyone from the corner offices reach out to me to apologize for leaving me at the airport for two hours? You can guess the answer to that. The end: Having never received my plates from my county, I finally called them only to learn they'd reached out to Castle more than once to let them know they hadn't provided enough money to my county for the plates. Only after I called and chewed on a couple of people at Castle did they send in the rest of the funds, resulting in me getting my plates two months after my temp tags had expired. The summary: You'll often have headaches dealing with the low-level sales people. That wasn't the case here; they were great. The folks above them dropped the ball in a bad way more than once. Clearly, I won't be going back, and the 4000+ members of the country club I run have all been told this story. Jordan and team: A quick 60-second apology call goes a long way when you leave a customer hanging at an airport, and when financial mistakes were made which left the customer driving dirty without proper tags, an apology is absolutely in order. You could have avoided this review by taking a few extra moments out of your day. Best of luck in the future. read more

Took my daughter to Castle Kia with the intention to purchase her first car. We chose this location because we bought her old car as a birthday gift in 2014 from this location when it was Gary Lang Kia. We thought we would get a good deal based on our experience when we purchased from Gary Lang. Our goal was to trade in a 2014 Kia Soul we purchased in 2014. My daughter was interested in purchasing a new Kia K5. Our experience was poor. They offered us $500 for the trade in and offered a high price for the new Kia K5. We informed them we got an offer of $2,500 for the 2014 Kia Soul and asked that they at least match that price. We were informed $500 was the best they could do. We informed the salesperson that there was a wide gap between what we expect for the trade in as well as the price of the new car. The salesperson asked for time to converse with the sales manager in a effort to make a deal. He returned to the table after a few minutes and said the offer on the table was the best they could do. In my 40 years of buying cars I expected the salesperson manager to speak with us. We were informed they were busy and he could not join in on the negotiations personally. At this point we put on our coats and left. The next day we went to Kia of Elgin on Randall Road. Our experience was completely opposite of what we experienced at Castle. We were enthusiastically greeted, sat down for a fair, no pressure negotiation and left there with the new Kia K5 my daughter wanted. We got a great price for our trade-in and a great price on the new car. I will never return to Castle Kia based on our experience. I chose to share the experience as I depend on reviews for large purchases. I hope this review helps someone in evaluating where /o buy your next car. read more

Update as of 2.13.25, extended warranty was approved about 3 weeks ago. They said engine was on order and should take a few days to get and less than 48 hours to fix after. That was 3 weeks ago, although I know nobody can help the timeliness of shipping, etc. But, we still wait. I lose count but think thats around 23 weeks........................... Update on my car thats is at Castle Kia McHenry: Its been I think 16 weeks now and just got a call from Castle that Kia doesn't recognize me as 1st owner since I leased it from Kia and bought it out so now they have to submit to third party warranty, Fidelity, to have an adjuster come out to do it. THIS WAS TOLD TO ME OVER A MONTH AGO AND WHAT I WAS WAITING ON....WHAT IN THE ACTUAL HECK IS GOING ON OVER THERE?! MY NEXT CALL IS A LAWYER! Update: Its been 13 weeks and my car still hasnt been repaired. Communication and any sense or urgency is deplorable. The only thing saving my sanity is that they have given me now two loaners. Last I heard was they were "waiting on warranty company". On my 4th Kia, 2020 Kia Sorento with 70k miles on it. In March, to avoid rising interest rates, I bought out my least on my Sorento. Labor Day weekend, engine shut off on me going 50mph. Never restarted. Had it towed to Castle and as of October 20th, they still have not proceeding with any type of formal diagnosis or conclusion. Two weeks ago I was told my service manager was recently in "customer service training" because of his lack of attention and follow up in regards to my experience and was told by his manager that he'd quickly get things up to par and get things going on it. Two weeks ago was the last I heard from him. The ONLY two reasons I give a 1 star is a.) I can't leave 0. and b.) They did give me a loaner car, a brand new car off the lot with less than 10 miles on it. I've since then put almost 3k miles on this loaner car, so I am not complaining. OH...and the kicker. Kia won't honor manufacturer warranty on my car...I will have to deal with my extended warranty. Why, you might ask? I've been the only owner of this car, only driver since day 1. Well, because Kia was the title owner the 3 years I leased it...and warranties don't carry over to "new owner" and since I bought out the lease, the paperwork shows me as 2nd owner with a preowned car. What a joke! And that denial is all the way up the Kia chain. You want to experience worse customer service than the actual Kia dealership, Castle? Contact Kia directly, they are worse! Over a decade with Kias, and actually have another 2020 Sorento in my driveway. I can't wait to get rid of both of them and go back to Jeep! read more

I would like to preface this review by saying that this dealership was completely unprofessional. I went in prepared to leave with a new car (KIA seltos S) as my dad and I had prepped all the information ahead of time. My dad was on the phone for at least an hour before us immediately making the 30 minute drive to the dealership. My dad and I did research, came with a perfectly prepped plan, and still left empty handed. 1.) The first person we sat down with was a young, very polite man, Henry, who answered our questions and was very apologetic when he told us the car we were picking up was being traded with another dealership, even though over the phone they said they had the car. Then, following the instructions of his manager, he attempted to bait and switch us by showing us the KIA seltos model SX. 2.) My dad brought this up with another manager, to which he responded by telling my dad that if he was upset that they didn't have the car he's free to go. 3.) When my dad called them out on this, the manager, Jordan, came over and blamed the situation on Henry saying he didn't know what he was doing and he was new. Jordan then brought over a different salesmen, Kyle, that he described as a "veteran sales representative." We explained the situation and how we had spoken on the phone, to which Kyle responded, "Can I get you guys coffee or water?" trying to evade the situation. 4.) After more waiting, Kyle and Jordan came back saying that they somehow did miraculously have the car, and we went to test it with Kyle. Kyle was very informative and answered all of our questions about the car, however he didn't really seem to care as he responded to several questions with answers such as "yeah well you get what you pay for." 5.) After working out a deal with Kyle, both parties compromising, we were ready to write a check and leave with the car. However, the manager came back over and said that in order for us to get the money off we were promised, we would have to initially pay for it, FILL OUT A SURVEY WITH A PERFECT SCORE, and then they send us back the $350. Please keep in mind this is a pricy car and we were already out of our budget. Immediately this was a red flag because everything else had been a mess. My dad said that of course we would fill out the survey but after we purchase the car WITH the $350 discount, because there's no point in chasing money around. Jordan refused to hold true to his word AGAIN, and then said "Okay bye." 6.) This is the part that bothers me most. After we were rudely dismissed and started to walk out, Jordan turned to me and said "I'm so sorry this experience was ruined for you." I was shocked by the overall disrespect towards my dad as well as how immature and passive aggressive these employees can be. I absolutely do not recommend this place, and warn you that if you go shopping there, you will be sloppily hustled. I know dealerships aren't the same as they used to be and now the dealerships are the ones in control, but this is simply unacceptable from any time of customer service. I felt completely patronized the entire time I was there; if someone tries to play me financially, I at least expect a more convincing performance than the half-assed show we got today. Henry-- if you're reading this-- you deserve a better job and one that doesn't humiliate you for doing what you're told. read more

1) On February 10, 2023 I was working Jordan Fridley and Jordan Suchowski and put at $1,000 deposit down on a 2023 Sportage Hybrid SX-Prestige that was due at the dealership toward the end of March 2023. 2) A few weeks after I put the deposit down, I e-mailed Mr. Fridley to see if there were any updates. He never responded to my e-mail because I found out the e-mail address on his business card wasn't valid. Once I discovered that, we corresponded via text messages. 3) During the last week of March, I called the dealership as I had heard nothing if the vehicle delivery date was still on track. I spoke with a sales person who couldn't find my record tied to that vehicle. He told me he'd call back that same morning once he figured things out. 4) Later that same morning, Jordan Suchowski called me to tell me that the vehicle I put the deposit down for was going to someone else who had put a deposit down on the same vehicle in late 2022. He was apologetic. I also pointed out that had I not pursued getting updates, I'd still be waiting for this vehicle and Castle would have $1,000 of my money it was not entitled to. 5) During the same conversation described above, Mr. Suchowski said the only way for me to get the vehicle I wanted was to order it, with a wait time of three to five months. I decided to go ahead and order one, following Mr. Suchowski's instructions on how to do so. He did agree to reduce the purchase price $500 for my inconvenience. 6) I placed an order according to Mr. Suchowski's instructions, but once again, I had to pursue the information that I should have gotten as a matter of good business practice, and never got a written confirmation of my order or price terms. On April 7, 2023 after deciding I would not do business with Castle Kia because of the issues described above, I called Mr. Suchowski to ask for my deposit back. He told me it would be in the mail either that day or by April 8. He told me to contact him if the check had not arrived by April 15. 7) On April 17, I tried contacting the dealership via phone and e-mail. I did manage to reach a sales manager at 3:30 on April 18th, who told me he'd call me back within 30 minutes, after confirming my phone number. I'm still waiting for that phone call. . . 8) On April 19, I called the dealership again long after it opened, and discovered that Mr. Suchowski wasn't scheduled in until 1 p.m. I left a detailed message with receptionist/operator and she assured me she'd get it to Mr. Suchowski when he came in. He never returned my call. 9) I decided I'd had enough of what is essentially incompetent practice, and drove to the dealership on the morning of April 20 to get my deposit back. That trip is 70 miles round trip, and took over two hours out of my day. I met with someone who works on the Mitsubishi side of the dealership, who quickly took care of my request. He also apologized for all the inconvenience I had to deal with. 10) I also want to let you know that I will be purchasing the same vehicle I thought I was getting with my deposit from another area dealership that has done a much better job communicating with me. read more

I bought a car on January 28th 2023 from Castle Kia in McHenry IL. I live in Missouri so I did most of the paperwork & private financing before driving there to pick up my car. I left the dealership with the sale guy telling me that I DID NOT need the title app & the MSO. In Missouri and Illinois, both of those are required to register a car AND pay the sales tax. It is now May 2023... after several calls to the dealership, plus a few calls to the Missouri Dept of Revenue AND the Illinois Dept of Revenue, the dealership still has not provided me with what I need to register my car. Talk about the WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER!! Do not buy from Castle Kia!! So, in Missouri, I now have a $100 title penalty for failure to register in 30 days. I have to get a "new" odometer reading since the one they provided has expired. And yet still no response from them. Just a bunch of voicemails left and NO return calls. Since then, I have contacted Kia directly and they are very eager to speak with Castle Kia since this is poor behavior and bad reflection on their brand. The Illinois Dept of Revenue would like to talk to them to see why the sold a car without proper paperwork. And since we live in a different state, the car crossed state lines which means it is borderline FRAUD! That means the feds get involved. And yes I have contacted an attorney... So, I repeat, DO NOT BUY A CAR from Castle Kia - - save yourself the grief, unprofessionalism and shady dealings. They are some of the biggest crooks in the business. This review will be posted EVERY DAY on every platform I can find, until the issue is resolved. And yes they will respond to this post, like ALL the others but NEVER solve anything for the customer. read more

I went in for an oil change today. I asked if they honored competitors coupons and the service manager said not usually. So I asked if he would take this one and he then said they do not take competitors coupons and told me it would be an hour and a half wait. I asked if I could leave my info and come back in then. He said no. I asked if I could make an appointment. He said they do not take appointments for only oil changes. So why have an online appointment calender on their website? He looked bored and as far as Customer Service, I will take my money elsewhere and avoid this place in the future. read more

In early December I contacted the online sales department about purchasing a 2023 KIA FORTE GT. I was assigned a salesperson whom I will not name. We went back and forth a few times before settling on a price. I made it very clear that I would be purchasing this vehicle during my work day so if we could keep the time at the dealership at a minimum that would be greatly appreciated. I mentioned I purchased a Jeep in 2022 and I was at the dealership for no more than 10 minutes. I was able to do everything before hand to save time. I was assured the same thing would happen here. You can probably guess it did not. I told my salesperson I would be there at 9:30am. I took an Uber there and proceeded to sit and sit and sit and sit. The sales manager came over and I signed everything and than just sat some more. I asked if I could take the car and I was told it was being detailed. So you know I am coming in to buy the car and you make zero effort to have things ready? The sales person finally brings the car over and reminds me I was only here an hour. It was the most disappointing $25k I have ever spent. Not one Thank You was ever spoken. My impression of this dealership is stay away. They do not respect your time nor your business. The reason why I did this on a workday? It was a surprise for my wife for Christmas. The only reason I came here? They had the blue one. Very disappointing. read more

My wife and I arrived at this dealership and were immediately greeted by Bakari, who worked with us and made our car buying experience great. Rick the general finance manager was very helpful and very transparent about the financing. Rick worked really hard in getting us in the KIA we wanted. Last but not least I come down to Noah the financing manager, he was very helpful with transparency on the finance side. He was very thorough with all and any information we needed. I would definitely recommend this dealership. Given that I have visited three other dealers and have had very bad experiences. One in particular had a markup on the vehicle I was looking for was upto 12 thousand dollars. read more

I took my vehicle in yesterday, 10/9/2023. I specifically asked while they were working on my door to tell me if they found a short in my speaker as the previous shop I took it to said there was a faint burn smell and found a short in the speaker wire and asked if I wanted to leave it disconnected for safety reasons which I said yes. I asked the service rep, to have that checked and if I needed to replace it to provide me the part number and a quote to replace if needed. When my car was finished, I asked and he said they never mentioned anything to him and I feel he shrugged it off as he never even went to ask the guy working on my car. There is also no notation in my work order of this request. I really hope my car doesn't catch on fire due to an electrical short that was ignored. I also went in and asked for a written quote to replace the rear back up camera. The rep I saw before only wrote $195 on my parts receipt (I have the part already). I asked the rep I saw today for a written quote and he said it was $395 even after I told him I was told it was $195 for the labor since I had the part. He didn't look anything in the computer and just verbally said it, again no written quote was given. I was done and just left. I honestly don't feel comfortable coming to Castle Kia for service work again. The parts department has always been great and they would be the only reason I even come back here. read more
