Be be aware if you bring your car for service, They tell you the diagnostic cost is $125, what they don't tell is that $125 per hour and sometimes it could take them 6 hours to find what's wrong with your car (Professionals) so buy the time they find the problem you already owe them $500/$600 and you don't even know about it. BIG TIME SCAMPERS.....

Buyer Beware: My Experience with Bold Motors in Illinois…read more I recently purchased a vehicle from Bold Motors in Illinois for my son, who is attending college and needed reliable transportation. Since he had to take out a loan to afford the car, we were especially cautious. The salesperson--who I believe is also the owner--assured us that the vehicle had been thoroughly inspected and was in excellent condition. However, shortly after taking delivery, we ran a routine check for any open recalls. When we brought the car to a certified Ford dealership for the necessary recall work, the mechanics informed us that both the engine and transmission were on the verge of failure and would require extensive repairs. I immediately contacted Bold Motors to discuss the situation. A woman named Sara answered the phone. After I explained what the Ford mechanics had found, she told me I'd need to speak directly with the owner. When I asked to leave my name and number, she abruptly hung up on me. Shortly afterward, I received a text message from her that read: "Unfortunately we can't help you, it will be better if you call your lawyer so he can talk to the owners. Thank you." This response was both shocking and deeply frustrating. The complete lack of accountability and professionalism was unacceptable--especially considering we made this purchase in good faith based on their verbal assurances. My sincere advice to anyone considering doing business with Bold Motors is to think twice. The last thing any parent--or anyone--needs is to be saddled with a costly, unsafe vehicle and a dealership unwilling to stand behind its word.

Tracy is the owner and he wasted two days of my time by telling me the car in question had no defects known to him. It had clean Carfax and was in "great running order." One check with my own OBD2 (diagnostic scanner) brought up so many issues I actually lost count. He claimed he didn't know anything about it. He just knew the engine light didn't come on so he thought it was fine. One simple test with a $25 diagnostic tool brought up a truckload of issues but he was going to sell the car without issue because the check engine light wasn't on. Do not waste your time here. They will sell you trash without batting an eyelash.

After test driving the car, we realized it had some serious mechanical issues. We were still very interested in the car and had talked to the owner of the dealership about fixing the mechanical issues and then we would purchase the car the next day. The next morning we kept trying to get ahold of the owner, but we were only able to get a mechanic on the phone, who said he was only instructed to fix one of the problems we had spoken about with the owner the day before. After a few more hours of not getting a phone call back from anyone, we decided to stop in. The owner was in the office and tried to make excuses for why he had not returned our calls. When we asked if the issues with the car had been addressed he tried to convince us there were no issues and that the car was in perfect condition. My husband, a mechanic himself, knew there was something wrong with the car. The owner obviously thought he could sucker us into buying the car and not fix whatever problem there was. When my husband tried to shake his hand and say thanks anyways (because we might have come back in the future to look at other cars) , the owner refused to shake his hand and told him to " just get the hell out". We were shocked that he was speaking like that, and we started out the door. As we were walking out he yelled after us, trying to provoke my husband, saying "you can't even pay for this car yourself you f@#&king mooch, you have to borrow money from someone else." Which is completely untrue. We wanted to finance the car as an opportunity to build our credit, even though we could have paid for it outright. Needless to say, after that rough exchange of words, we will never be stepping foot on that lot again, not recommending them to anyone. Beware working with this dealer, as they are rude and extremely unprofessional.

(Or he…read morewouldn't get many sales, of course) We purchased a 2005 Honda Pilot that after the first 2-3 weeks started sounding like metal on metal when we braked. The brakes were bad all the way around! All 4 brakes! The mechanic said when he inspected it that they were metal on metal when we purchased it. So he sold us a car with unsafe, terrible brakes. Metal on metal, no pad left on any of the brakes. Cost of 4 new rotors and a brake job: 800.00$ Ed Dunne, when confronted about this, claimed the brakes were "just fine" and called me and my fiancee liars. Ed Dunne sells unsafe cars to unsuspecting, trusting people. Please think about the type of person who would sell anyone a car with 4 bad brakes... Only the worst type of person would sell a car with 4 bad brakes to anyone. He couldn't care less if they get in an accident and become crippled or die. If he did, he wouldn't be selling a car with bad brakes. But he made an extra 800 bucks! See how well that works for Ed Dunne? The man, seriously, has no conscience. Long story short: If your even thinking about doing business with this man, Ed Dunne, simply hit the gas and keep on driving till you find another dealership. He lies, cheats people and sells people unsafe vehicles, all to make MORE profit! He is the worst kind of salesman and the type of man who gives car sales people the bad reputation they often don't deserve. And he gets extremely rude when you call him on the carpet for the shoddy vehicles he peddles to unsuspecting people. He called me an as8hole and told me he wouldn't ever sell to me again. He told me to get the fu*k off his lot. Couldn't believe it! Thank God is all I have to say! Ed Dunne also has a referral program where he gives 100 bucks to anyone who refers a friend, etc, to purchase a car. The person who referred us never even got her 100 bucks. We asked him if she got her money, and he lied to us and told us she did. We called her and asked her and she never got a dime of that referral money. So Ed Dunne is simply a liar. She also told us she purchased 3 cars there and after all the problems she had with the last vehicle, and not getting her referral money, said she wasn't ever going back to that man for anything. much less another car. He does not treat customers well at all. Total contempt would be the best way to describe how he views customers. So between me, her and my fiancee, there is 3 people who won't ever get cheated by Ed Dunne ever again! Ed Dunne is a bad person, with poor character and no morals. That is the only type of person that can sell a car with no brakes to unsuspecting shoppers. Good people couldn't do that because they have a conscience. I myself, couldn't do it. It wasn't a mistake on his part. He knew they were bad. But he made the decision to sell it in its unsafe condition and roll the dice with our lives. It's just how he does business. He is a bad person with no morals. Put his dealership in your rear view mirror now and drive to the next dealership. He will screw you too if you give him the opportunity. Don't! And lastly, Ed Dunne sold us a car with outstanding recalls on all of the airbags without informing us. I guess this is ok, if you want airbags that shoot shrapnel into your face in an accident. Not sure about you, but that's my least favorite thing to happen when the airbags go off. We took it to Macgrath Honda in Crystal Lake and had it fixed for free. Total time: 77 minutes. And that's 77 minutes of free work that Ed Dunne, if he was a good person with good morals, would surely have gotten done prior to selling the vehicle. Especially since it was free. But he couldn't care less whether his cars are road safe or not. All that matters to Ed Dunne is making a few extra hundred bucks on each sale. Safety be damned! He couldn't care less if you buy a car and die a half an hour later because it had no brakes or the airbags shoot shrapnel into your face on impact. He got paid and that's all that matters to this used car salesman. Buyer beware!

Ray was honest with me and told me he would not sell me that car before he made sure it was completely safe. The background: I'm a veteran of buying vehicles from out of…read morestate, as I've done so my entire life, covering about a dozen cars. I know the tricks and I know the pitfalls. I found the car I was looking for and so reached out to Castle Kia to discuss. The beginning: I had an excellent time with communications between the numerous (and I mean numerous) customer service reps and sales people during the first couple of days when working out a deal. They were very responsive and we managed to find a workable number for all parties. I'm not easily impressed, but in this case I truly was. The middle: Here's where things went down the path of "oh yeah, used car dealership. Where have we heard this one before?" Right before it was time to seal the deal, the GM, Jordan Suchowski, started playing games with the final price, working every angle to try and squeeze a few hundred more dollars out of me, eventually insinuating a "take it or leave it" demeanor. Given the car was the exact one I wanted, I chose to eat the three hundred and move on with my life. Things went really badly when I flew in to O'Hare and found myself stranded at the airport: Jordan didn't bother to tell my final salesperson to pick me up. After a few phone calls to the dealership, each escalating in tone to get someone to pick me up, they found my final salesman (I'd gone through no less than 4 people during the transaction) and ordered him to get in a vehicle and come get me. Nice. Customer. Service. My sales guy was apologetic, but he got thrown under the bus by his bosses, and did anyone from the corner offices reach out to me to apologize for leaving me at the airport for two hours? You can guess the answer to that. The end: Having never received my plates from my county, I finally called them only to learn they'd reached out to Castle more than once to let them know they hadn't provided enough money to my county for the plates. Only after I called and chewed on a couple of people at Castle did they send in the rest of the funds, resulting in me getting my plates two months after my temp tags had expired. The summary: You'll often have headaches dealing with the low-level sales people. That wasn't the case here; they were great. The folks above them dropped the ball in a bad way more than once. Clearly, I won't be going back, and the 4000+ members of the country club I run have all been told this story. Jordan and team: A quick 60-second apology call goes a long way when you leave a customer hanging at an airport, and when financial mistakes were made which left the customer driving dirty without proper tags, an apology is absolutely in order. You could have avoided this review by taking a few extra moments out of your day. Best of luck in the future.
