    Castle Marne

Impeccable venue with wonderfully warm and attentive hosts. The king size bedroom was quiet, gorgeous and spacious. The bathroom was to die for! Booked this room for my brother who was visiting from out of town. A respite in the middle of Denver.

I flew in from out of town to Denver with a group of girls for my best friend's bachelorette. I ended up hosting her Bridal Shower at Castle Marne, where we had a Tea Party / High Tea theme. I can't express how lovely the castle was both inside and out. The staff was very helpful with any questions my sister and I had while we were setting up. Unfortunately we were unable to use all of our decorations as the walls inside the castle are original so tape cannot be used (shame that we didn't know this before since the bride brought so much decor from out of state). In addition to the tea, there were several courses of food which was very good. I truly appreciate that they had vegan options. This was a perfect spot for my best friend's bridal shower, and I couldn't be happier with the result!!

This place is a pantheon of beauty. I had a chance to stay here last weekend with my girlfriend and it made for an absolutely gorgeous weekend. I was in town for business but since Denver is so close this place provided a nice working vacation to make my girlfriend the happiest she's been in a long time. I did have to tell her in advance we weren't getting engaged though because this place is so romantic I was worried she'd think it was a "pop the question" weekend. The staff here was super great. They had not only tons of knowledge about the local area but actually seemed to enjoy sharing it and talking to guests. The guy who cooks breakfast in the morning made not only one of the best breakfasts I've had at a B&B but had tons of great stories about the house and the neighborhood. The old guy made an awesome breakfast. It was vegetarian and I'm normally a huge meat eater but everything was so good it didn't even matter to me. And since everything was handmade and they checked on all dietary restrictions before we came in it worked with my girlfriends new diet from her nutritionist too. I've stayed at several B&B's over the years and this was hands down the best breakfast out of any of them! Each room has such a unique character and different amenities that could make each stay different. My only regret about my room was not selecting the Presidential Suit. I'd seen the price difference and didn't think it would be worth the extra but peaking my head in and grabbing pictures it would have been well worth it. By no means was the Lang room (my room) lacking. But the Presidential Room just had a major extra WOW in person. That'll be my choice next time for sure. Overall a great stay and a massive amount of respect to everyone who restored such a beautiful building and helped turn it into a memorable weekend for my girlfriend and I. #BAndB #BedAndBreakfast #Quaint #Castle #Romantic #GreatLocation

I know I tend to idealize/romanticize the past sometimes, and must do it once again now. So, back when Castle Marne was an apartment building, a friend/boyfriend of mine lived there briefly. Reasonable rent, reasonably cool boyfriend, and one awesome apartment. And now Castle Marne is a friendly, hospitable, and lush Bed & Breakfast. Comfortable and nicely furnished rooms, breakfasts fit for royalty, good tea, and reasonable prices. They do special events, as do most Bed & Breakfasts, and their yard areas seem like they would be perfect for weddings and such. I was here in the midst of a past deep snowy winter, so the entirety of the yard was not visible, but it still looked perfect for events! Mostly though, I still remember the nice comfortable room, the clean, dignified, and well-equipped bathroom, and the sincere kindness of the owner(s) who checked me in during a blizzard, late at night, when I was not able to drive home to Boulder and needed to stay somewhere near where my car got stuck. Happenstance; and what a fortunate accident of fate!!

    No tea :(

Such a beautiful place. My boyfriend and I visited for one night while in Denver, and we had a great time. We reserved the Tower room, and they had about 5 journals filled with other visitors' previous experiences. Some of these dated all the way back to the early nineties! I have one complaint: the wonderful lady running the front desk advertised nighttime tea and cookies, but when we stopped in the living area (at around the hour she stated) for tea, there was none. I'm pretty sure there was tea originally, but it had not been restocked. So we tried the Keurig, but it was broken. :( Otherwise, the staff was wonderful, and breakfast was delicious! I would definitely visit again.

Just left the beautiful castle. Had such an amazing time celebrating our 2nd anniversary!! We checked in at around 4:00pm. We got a tour of the castle and received the key to our room. The "van cise". Which is such a great room with its own patio and private hot tub. 4:30pm was tea hour, two types of tea were available with delicious pastries and nuts. Everything on a silver platter which was a nice touch. 7:00pm was dinner, a 4 course candlelit dinner. (Very romantic) FYI bring your own alcohol, they will serve it to you. There is also a liquor store about 2 blocks away. We went downstairs at night and they had fluffy cookies and tea in case we wanted a late night snack. Breakfast was at 8:30am. The very berry jam was sooo good! Overall, what made this experience amazing was the hospitality, everyone went above and beyond our expectations! Thank you Jim, Melissa, Louie and Erin.

Came to this bed and breakfast on valentine's day, nice place with a historic feel. High tea in the afternoon was nice. The room was also good just wish the mattress had been a little newer but we loved the hot tub on our balcony and really enjoyed sipping wine and looking at the stars. In the morning the breakfast was just ok nothing special but the owner came in and introduced herself and told us some good stories about the castle we where staying in and was really gracious for our stay. Not sure if I will ever come back but it was definitely a very peaceful and relaxing stay.

Tip: Call to reserve late checkout at 1:30 for $30. First come first served. Otherwise checkout is at 11 AM. It was nice to enjoy coffee in the lodge after a late night concert. Worth it to take the shuttle (mini school bus with a couch and disco balls!) for $15/person to be dropped up at the top of Red Rocks - beats the long line walking up. $25/person pick up - approx 10 min walk but it's all downhill to the party bus and seemed way safer than all the taxi drivers in your face outside of the amphitheater. Brooks is awesome and takes care of you!! We stayed in the Rose Retreat again. It's a small room, but I love the big shower and mini fridge with Brita. The window air conditioning unit kept the place nice and cool with it being 95° outside. Private hot tub and robes in the closet. Breakfast is included. Order at check-in and enjoy the next morning. There is also fruit, bagels, coffee and tea, with alternative milk available. Bottomless mimosas available for a cost. We enjoyed a nice chess game with coffee after a delicious breakfast. Can't wait for the next visit!

This isn't a super nice or updated space, but we had everything we needed for our mixed bag of early 30s friends. My friends and I stayed in the Stone St. cottage, which is heavily Grateful Dead/psychedelic/ classic rock themed. The room is listed as sleeping 3, which we did on night one, but easily slept 4 on night 2. The grounds were so charming and eclectic. The cottage we were in was a little wonky and slanted on the floor, but the rooms were clean, the shower worked great and we had more than what we needed. We checked in super late in the darkness so we didn't get to experience a normal front desk check in, which I'm sure would brief us on procedures like pre-ordering breakfast the night before, but the staff was so accommodating when we showed up hungry and ordered bacon, eggs and potatoes in the AM. Mary was the cook and she was rad, quick witted and whipped up a lovely home cooked breakfast. There are 2 dogs (that we met) on site names Shokti (gorg white husky queen) and Mr. Dog (precious, hilarious chihuahua businessman) and we loved to pet and visit with them while in the main lodge. That space is incredible: kitschy, eclectic, trippy and warm, just like our whole stay! I could go on forever about how adult-summer-camp-esque the grounds were! Every cottage is themed, though we only entered ours. The covered hot tub was a crucial touch for our group in the crisp 50 degree weather to take a morning dip and unwind after the show. I'm unsure if all cottages come with hot tubs so definitely confirm if that's something you're interested in. The walkability to all the necessities and some breweries/ eateries was appealing when we had time to kill. Cliff House offers a shuttle to and from Red Rocks for a fixed price per rider. The shuttle to the venue leaves 15 minutes prior to doors which was a little late for us, so we opted to take the shuttle back and it was a highlight of the trip. Brook's organized the shuttle, sent us incredibly detailed instructions on where/ how to find her in a short, yellow school bus. I especially appreciate the details because we had been drinking etc and needed the depth of care taken to make sure we found her! The bus was stocked with beverages and we played music and just bopped down the hill, laughing our butts off. This was such a fun stay for us and it was thanks to the grounds, location, home cooked breakfast and tea in the lodge, Mary, Brooks, Shokti and Mr. Dog. I will recommend to anyone I know traveling that way!

It's very close to downtown, walking distance to Coors field and Pearl street with a 15-20min walk. We stayed in the Garden room, which faced the back of the property and their garden area. The room was small and no frills but met our needs for one evening. The bed was pretty comfortable but the pillows were too floppy. The AC worked very well which we were thankful for since it was 90 degrees outside. Everything was clean but a little dated and the water pressure of the shower was pretty bad. The garden area had 4-5 tables and it was very quiet; we enjoyed lunch one day back there. Nicole checked us in and showed us around. I liked how there was a fridge for guests to use and water cooler with glasses for you to bring fresh water to your rooms. I can't remember the name of the chef who cooked breakfast in the morning but he was great! He was able to meet our dietary needs. We opted to eat our breakfast on the front porch which overlooked the park and was great for people watching. Overall, good no frills spot if you are looking for parking and breakfast that are included. Definitely a more personalized experience compared to staying in a hotel.

I'll try to keep this short: the Patterson Inn is a delightful boutique hotel with glorious original interiors that have been refurbished in a way that both honors the historical original and gives attention to the modern comforts people expect nowadays. So many small perfect details, storage everywhere in the room, good WiFi throughout, beautiful areas to relax, the on-site 12 Spirits bar, the great breakfasts served in a beautiful area and featuring made-from-scratch-on-site and local goods . . . and most of all the welcoming and helpful staff, who quickly feel like friends. (Cheers and so many thanks to owner Chris Chiari and innkeeper Steve.) And what a delightful neighborhood - safe, walkable, FUN, with all manner of entertaining things within an easy walk. The Library was large and SO comfortably appointed, with tons of storage, space heater and cooler and a great modern bathroom - just couldn't have been happier. On the haunting front - first of all, I'm not into this stuff. At all. But. When we unpacked, I'd left my (large, hardshell) suitcase on top of the luggage rack on the side by the entry door, and I'd put a large hardback book I was reading it dead square in the middle of it. Went to supper, had some drinks. Came back six hours later and my wife lay on the bed (on the side away from the entry) to check her messages. I was over at the desk by the windows (on the side away from the entry) plugging in my phone to charge. It had been maybe three minutes since we entered the room. THUMP! over by the entrance to the room. We looked at each other. We both said, "It wasn't me." I went over to look and . . . my big hardbound book was now lying on the floor about three feet from the suitcase on the luggage rack. Weird. Weird enough that we were seriously trying to figure out how it had fallen (there hadn't been an earthquake, no one was jumping around, it was totally still and getting later in the evening) and eventually one of us said, "Hey, what if it was the ghost?" Ha ha. Told the staff the next morning as kind of a ha-ha thing and they were remarkably unsurprised and gave every appearance of having heard this sort of thing a lot. It was weird to us, though. Anyway, forget about that - the Patterson Inn was a great stay for us, and we are really looking forward to a return. What we're up in air about is whether we want to stay again in The Library (which we loved) or check out another room.
