I'll try to keep this short: the Patterson Inn is a delightful boutique hotel with glorious original interiors that have been refurbished in a way that both honors the historical original and gives attention to the modern comforts people expect nowadays. So many small perfect details, storage everywhere in the room, good WiFi throughout, beautiful areas to relax, the on-site 12 Spirits bar, the great breakfasts served in a beautiful area and featuring made-from-scratch-on-site and local goods . . . and most of all the welcoming and helpful staff, who quickly feel like friends. (Cheers and so many thanks to owner Chris Chiari and innkeeper Steve.) And what a delightful neighborhood - safe, walkable, FUN, with all manner of entertaining things within an easy walk. The Library was large and SO comfortably appointed, with tons of storage, space heater and cooler and a great modern bathroom - just couldn't have been happier. On the haunting front - first of all, I'm not into this stuff. At all. But. When we unpacked, I'd left my (large, hardshell) suitcase on top of the luggage rack on the side by the entry door, and I'd put a large hardback book I was reading it dead square in the middle of it. Went to supper, had some drinks. Came back six hours later and my wife lay on the bed (on the side away from the entry) to check her messages. I was over at the desk by the windows (on the side away from the entry) plugging in my phone to charge. It had been maybe three minutes since we entered the room. THUMP! over by the entrance to the room. We looked at each other. We both said, "It wasn't me." I went over to look and . . . my big hardbound book was now lying on the floor about three feet from the suitcase on the luggage rack. Weird. Weird enough that we were seriously trying to figure out how it had fallen (there hadn't been an earthquake, no one was jumping around, it was totally still and getting later in the evening) and eventually one of us said, "Hey, what if it was the ghost?" Ha ha. Told the staff the next morning as kind of a ha-ha thing and they were remarkably unsurprised and gave every appearance of having heard this sort of thing a lot. It was weird to us, though. Anyway, forget about that - the Patterson Inn was a great stay for us, and we are really looking forward to a return. What we're up in air about is whether we want to stay again in The Library (which we loved) or check out another room.

It's very close to downtown, walking distance to Coors field and Pearl street with a 15-20min walk. We stayed in the Garden room, which faced the back of the property and their garden area. The room was small and no frills but met our needs for one evening. The bed was pretty comfortable but the pillows were too floppy. The AC worked very well which we were thankful for since it was 90 degrees outside. Everything was clean but a little dated and the water pressure of the shower was pretty bad. The garden area had 4-5 tables and it was very quiet; we enjoyed lunch one day back there. Nicole checked us in and showed us around. I liked how there was a fridge for guests to use and water cooler with glasses for you to bring fresh water to your rooms. I can't remember the name of the chef who cooked breakfast in the morning but he was great! He was able to meet our dietary needs. We opted to eat our breakfast on the front porch which overlooked the park and was great for people watching. Overall, good no frills spot if you are looking for parking and breakfast that are included. Definitely a more personalized experience compared to staying in a hotel.

This is your chance to explore one of them and the hosts are happy to share the history of both Denver and the castle! Lots of our local friends knew the house and were surprised to learn it was a bed and breakfast. (If I were local, I would make a point to stay.) It's like sleeping over in a museum time machine--which I can say is a dream of mine. Castle Marne is totally unique and delightful. It's an absolute treasure and it owes everything to the Peiker family, who have been operating the b&b for the last 30 years and who restored the entire house and property--there's a photo album to prove it if you're still not impressed. Our group stayed in 2 rooms: The Tower and one downstairs whose name I already forgot. Both were beautifully decorated with detail and respect for the home's Victorian roots. The property is immaculately landscaped so every window had a great view and soft light filtered through large trees. The rooms were spotless and everyone had a little extra space. We learned The Tower was originally an open porch area for the third floor ballroom! Our second room was added in the 1930s and felt like it's own apartment--with a separate porch and entry door very convenient for people like myself who forget things and have to go back inside 3-4 times before actually leaving. Delicious, healthy breakfast is served in the dining room with the other guests. Our hosts made bread, muffins, and fresh jam from scratch!! They were happy to accommodate one vegan diet as well. I could keep going but all you need to know is THIS PLACE IS SPECIAL and I am so grateful for the opportunity to stay here! #badcopbadcop #castlemarne

I called both hosts and was sent directly to voicemail. About 20 minutes later they finally texted back and told me to "lift the door up and it will roll to the right" When I followed that, the heavy door came off its track and crashed to the floor. It missed my child by maybe a foot. By sheer luck my daughter wasn't killed. I should have called the police to get my kids out instead of listening to their terrible advice. I've attached screenshots as of text communication as proof. Afterward, the hosts posted an Airbnb review claiming I "berated" them and "splintered their priceless door." The attached text messages show them being apologetic in real time until they wrote their public review. I never berated anyone, but I should have. Other issues: - Strong noise and odor from ducks in a cage or pen next to the room - Front door opens directly into a parking lot where homeless people frequently loitered - Cleanliness below basic standards Bottom line: the door is a serious hazard. The hosts were slow to respond and gave advice that nearly caused a disaster. This place is not safe for kids.

The problem with the Chalet is that management seems clueless when it comes to tending to upkeep. The kitchen is nice but there literally were no forks in the drawer and only a couple of small spoons and one steak knife. Even after twice informing the staff of this fact, it took them four days to drop off a couple of pieces of silverware. There were only a couple of plates and bowls. Plus, half of the knobs on the kitchen cabinets were broke and it was hard and a bit painful to grab what was left to open them. There were two amazing decorative bedside lamps, but only one of them worked because there was no place to plug it in. These unforgivable oversights may seem minor, but they diminished what should have been an enjoyable stay in an elegant hotel.

My husband and I joked that even if our wedding was a dud, the venue alone would wow people. The walk through video on their website is just a glimpse into the magic and joy that this spot holds!!! From the ceremony site options, to the bridal suite, to the dining area and the dance floor, we enjoyed all of the spaces this place has to offer. Our 108 guests loved the food, the drinks, and the views so much, they couldn't stop commenting all night on how beautiful and awesome this venue was. And our photos turned out incredible with the mountains, the river, the trees, and the outdoor lights. Dawn is responsive and helpful and she knows what she's doing! My one area of constructive criticism would be recommending that the venue provide a clearer timeline to the couples getting married. I typed my own up based on our meetings but the venue stated they'd send it a few times and never got around to it. Otherwise, I can't say enough WONDERFUL things about this spot. Hospitality is their jam. The rentable items like the arch and photo booth, the in-house decorations, and the food options are positively stunning. The staff is phenomenal, the on-site honeymoon suite was so clean and comfortable, and there was lots of space for kids to run around. An amazing AMAZING spot to make memories and start your married life with your partner off right!
