I think I really liked this place because of how much you could see the passion in the owner. You can definitely tell he really LOVES Christmas. I'm not sure if he makes an appearance for every tour, but he spoke with our group at the beginning and shared how his love for Christmas started as a kid because his dad always went all out for it. It is a great place to take your family, ESPECIALLY if you have kids that still believe in Santa. It's also a great place for the older crowd to go, so they can reminisce and look at all the old Christmas memorabilia. I don't think it's that entertaining for kids in-between.....we took our ten year old niece with us, and while yes she was being a brat, I could tell she was bored and not interested. None of them memorabilia was recognizable to her, and she doesn't believe in Santa anymore, so she wasn't that impressed. If you are a mom with young children: DO NOT BRING YOUR STROLLER!!!!! First, it's very, VERY difficult to navigate it around the different parts of the tour-especially when you go through the "chimney." Second, the two women that had strollers on our tour were just flat out rude and didn't care who they were running over. I also recommend buying tickets ahead of time. read more

I have been here more than once and it always makes me smile and truly puts me in a good mood. Go any time of year. It doesn't need to be Christmas time in order to appreciate it. It's expansive and impressive. Tour takes at least 40 minutes and more if you do the mini golf and/or stop at the bar or store. This place was created from the heart of the owner and it shows. This was fun and interesting. Would recommend for ages 6 and above. Tour is more interesting for adults - so fun to look at all the stuff from your childhood and the movie paraphernalia. Amazing place to take the family during the holidays. I'm sure this place would be fun anytime of the year, but kicks up the holiday spirit around the holiday season. So many awesome exhibits on display here. Something for all ages. Some of the exhibits are from around the world, and include some famous scenery and props from movies and such. The finale is a giant slide for the kids. The gift store is pretty cool, and offers unique gifts at fair prices. A wonderful family experience that filled a good chunk of our day. read more

This place is amazing! The tour guides are so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We loved it!

What an amazing evening this was. There's so much attention to detail, color, passion and love put into the work here. We started our tour at about 6:30pm and finished up around 8:30pm. We really had such a nice time. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable. There is room after room full of surprises and Christmas cheer. I don't want to spoil all the goodies but just know that this is definitely an experience that you'll never forget. It really helped get us in the Holiday Spirit. I highly recommend any and all Christmas lovers, couples and family's with children to give this hidden treasure a try this holiday season. read more

I can't even begin to explain how incredible and purely MAGICAL Castle Noel is. It's an absolutely breathtaking place full of wonder, beauty and excitement around every corner. I have to say that I was mesmerized by the beauty and wonder of all of the Christmas window displays. Getting to see the incredible pieces of movie history and the incredible attention to detail in every inch will leave you wide eyed and slack jaw with pure childlike wonder. Even my husband who lost his Christmas spirit years ago was walking around wide eyed and grinning from ear to ear. The hall of classic toys is a personal favorite of mine but....getting to see a new addition this year, Comet from The Santa Clause was the absolute best part for me! I seriously almost jumped up and down with excitement when I got to see him! Oh! And the slide from A Christmas Story was epic! A must do when you are there!! I had waited years to get a chance to go see this place! I am absolutely obsessed with Christmas. It was a very cool experience and there was so much to see. However, the entire 2 hour tour was very rushed. They take around 20 people at a time which doesn't seem like a lot, but the rooms and areas you go to are very small and a tight squeeze with some spots. So, 20 people can seem like way too many! It was hard to sometimes hear the tour guides and get all of the information. There were a lot of spots I wanted to be able to take it all in and take my time looking at it, but the tour guide kept saying "we've got more groups coming through, keep moving!" So we had to be herded like cattle and move right on through. I just wish I could have gone at my leisurely pace through there. Overall, it was a very fun experience and so neat to see some of the things he had on display. I would definitely go back, but they need to work out some kinks on rushing people through everything. read more

I feel like no matter what I write I'll be branded a "grinch" so I'm just gonna go for it...My family and I try to do a Christmas 'event' every year - go to a show or on a trip of some sort. This year we went on what seemed like an ACID trip at Castle Noel. As described, this place pays homage to Christmas movies and all things Christmas. You are led through a maze of displays by people who appear to be the relatives/followers/minions of Castle Noel's founder, Mark Klaus. Some have real enthusiasm, some feign it well and some downright fail. Shout out to the guy by the shoe display - your sexist comments about women and shoes are forgiven; I'm assuming you were high on cocaine because your enthusiasm was so immense, I thought it had to be drug-induced. Almost every section is prefaced with some grand praise of "Mark Klaus, the god of Christmas." We learn more about Mark than anything - how hard he works on recreating displays, how good of a sculptor he is. You learn about his health problems (broken back) and watch clips of HIS favourite Christmas movies and hear anecdotes of his life. I'm sure Mark is a nice guy but it would be like going to the Tate Modern or MoMA and hearing more about the curator than the art. There are some impressive props, such as Will Ferrell's "Elf" suit and Jim Carrey's Grinch sled. I hate to burst people's bubble, but one of the worker bees explained that the slide is only a replica of the "Christmas Story" slide, that said, we bought our family photo along with a gem-of-a-photo of my brother from the top of the slide because it was so damn funny. I left Castle Noel feeling marginally more Christmassy but that was mostly as a result of having a good laugh with my nearest and dearest. I couldn't help but feel the whole time that there was some weird, grim, patriarchal, cultish undertone flowing throughout. Maybe I've just watched too many non-Christmas movies... Overall, it was an experience to say the least, but not one I need to repeat in upcoming years. read more

I lived in Brunswick for a couple of years, yet never knew about this place before. As an adult who went with a group of other adults, I enjoyed it (this isn't a kid-only attraction). Some minor suggestions I would make: 1. The video shown beforehand should be done with the door closed -- too much noise came in from the gift shop. 2. Tour groups should be smaller -- there were times when not everyone could comfortably fit in a room/area or clearly hear the guide. 3. Pace needs to be slower at some points -- there's so much to see among the first hallway of pictures, which we breezed right through. We were allotted 2 hours and didn't use them all, so it wouldn't have an impact there. 4. Gift shop is surprisingly limited compared to everything shown on the tour. Things are constantly changed/added, so that's good to know for future reference! read more

I love this place!! Ok it is really cool for every age. But being in my 40's (!!!) I can tell you that I got more out of this amazing museum than my teenagers. This museum really took me back to my childhood Christmas mornings. Great, great memories. I think what did it for me the most, was the room that displayed all of the games from the 70s. I could swear that when my mom had donated our toys when we got older, they all ended up in the display at Castle Noel. I could go on about all my favorite rooms, in fact, I don't think there were any rooms I didn't like, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone. This is definitely a good way to spend your day with your kids, grandkids, whoever. I do wish though that they didn't charge so much for the pictures because they are hard not to buy and it does add up and becomes a little pricey. read more

This was our second trip to Castle Noel. We loved it so much we had to bring my son and his fiance, who are visiting from Georgia, to see it. They both work in the film industry and absolutely loved seeing all the props, costumes, set pieces, etc from the different Christmas movies. My family and I went for a little excursion before Christmas and greatly enjoyed it! Even convinced my parents to try the slide at the end. I would suggest that the tour guides make sure everyone is in the room/near enough to hear before starting their explanation. Everyone was super friendly, and I especially enjoyed seeing some of Mark's personality via the videos that played throughout the tour. $21 a ticket is a little steep if you're bringing a family or group, but I'm still glad I did this. They're adding new displays all the time, so I could see myself returning at some point in the future. This definitely got me in the Christmas mood, and reminded me of some great classic Christmas movies I should watch again! read more

Castle Noel is good for people who are really nostalgic and like going to Big Fun and who like really tight crowded, cluttered spaces. aka, not me. I have to agree with Megan V. that it's got kind of a weird vibe, and they talk way too much about Mark the owner during the tour. I tried to call ahead just to see if they thought I'd need reservations to visit that afternoon. It was the most ridiculous process. I literally had to call back 4 times because the woman who answered my phone could not take 2 minutes to look at the schedule and answer my question. She just kept saying "It's really busy in here right now. I'll call you back in 5 minutes." And 20 minutes later I'd have to call again for the same run around. Eventually it worked out and we got reservations for the time we wanted, but the process took over an hour and I nearly called the whole visit off. To me, $17 is a bit steep for what you get. But the place was crowded and they move you through the exhibits at a good clip, so obviously people are wiling to pay it. Definitely not small-child friendly. The tour involves too much listening and waiting to be fun for little ones. The website warns to bring an umbrella stroller or none at all because you will have to carry it up and down steps, and it's a good thing! It's also not that interesting for young kids because most of the attraction is about 'remember when' stuff. All that being said, my family had a good time and I don't regret going. These people really love Christmas and you can tell they've put their heart into making this thing awesome. Wow the experience we had last night was astounding. We can't stop thinking and talking about it to everyone. I can't even imagine the hard work everyone has done to make this visit nostalgic. Christmas has always been my favorite time of year but this is my first year without parents. Castle Noel has helped me get through some tough times. I went to Castle Noel on 12/23/13 so it was a little crazy and unorganized being so close to Xmas. We bought time slots but had to wait about 40min before we were let in for our tour. I didn't know what to expect going into the tour, I didn't know anyone that went to it before. The tour took us around an hour at this time of year with so many people there. Some of the tour guides were really good and some weren't as good, they each run sections of the tour. It offers a lot of stuff to look at and at the end you get to slide down the slide just like in Christmas story the movie. This was a ton of fun! Overall the three of us that went really enjoyed it and are thinking of making it a yearly event. read more

They are continually finding and displaying more finds, including movie sets. Mike Klaus may be one of the most talented artists I've ever seen. He has dedicated his life to creating the ultimate Christmas display at castle Noel. Hundreds of props, donated memorabilia, costumes, pictures, set pieces, and reconstructed artifacts from all things Christmas. If you like a Christmas movie, they probably have something from the set. The owner has made it his personal mission to track down things all over the country and put them on display. Much of what he has was restored by him (he's a master sculpturer). The tour is about 1:30 hours and is guided. My fiancée and I love Christmas movies and we had a great time visiting. We plan to return in a few years when more items have been added. read more

Highly recommended for kids of all ages...or for kids from 1 to 92 for those Christmas song fans. So many great pieces to see and it just keeps getting better as you go.
