Block & Bottle - If you're hungry, have the black and blue burger with the truffle fries and a side of the Dragon's Milk Stout.

I don't make it down to Castle Rock very often, but after eating at The Block & Bottle, I might…read morehave to start changing that. We stopped in for brunch and everything we ordered was really good, but the Breakfast Hangover Burger completely stole the show for me. A burger topped with smoked ham, an over easy egg, avocado, American cheese, jalapeños, fried onion straws, and sriracha aioli sounds like someone lost a bet and just kept adding ingredients. Somehow it all works perfectly. We also ordered the Monte Cristo, which was crispy, cheesy, and exactly what I want when I order a Monte Cristo. Another highlight weee the donuts. Fresh, hot, and perfect for sharing. The service was great, the food came out quickly, and the whole experience was just really enjoyable. Definitely worth the trip.

As I have the past several times here, I went with the egg and carnitas tacos. I added a side of fresh fruit...both the eggs and fruit were very good. As the Benedict my wife loved is no longer on the menu, she had the avocado toast with eggs. She added a large size of the breakfast potatoes and was glad she did. While she liked the taste of the avocado toast, she was very disappointed in the small size of the portion. She wish she had more. One daughter had the Mardi Gras omelette for the first time. While she liked the flavor, the fact that the ham was a full slice (lunchmeat style), as opposed to chunks or cubes, was weird...and required cutting with a knife. The other daughter tried the quiche for the first time and loved it. It is one of the better quiches around. Coffee is very good as well. Service was fine for the most part.

I stumbled across this museum while walking around Castle Rock on a Saturday afternoon. I was told…read morethat this building originally sat where the fire station is located downtown. It looked like quite the project to move this building to the current location. Unfortunately, this location is "out of sight, out of mind." I feel that this museum is an important part of Castle Rock history. Part of the original flooring is still intact. And the graffiti on the right end of the building was interesting. Various graffiti on the wall was explained to me. I was impressed that there was so much to look at for such a small building. I was fortunate to have a guided tour by a staff member. I believe staff are volunteers. They also feature various presentations about Castle Rock which are actually held at the library (Phillip Miller). They also have a nice gift shop. Make sure you browse the various items. They sell some nice books. I purchased a Douglas County history book for half off the price. Again, I felt fortunate to have a staff member tell me about various history events in Castle Rock. This experience gave me a really nice appreciation for being a Castle Rock resident. I love learning the history about any community I live in. There is also an opportunity to purchase a brick ($100) where the proceeds go to the museum. The brick is placed directly outside the museum for display. It was very nice to see all of the bricks purchased so far. The museum visit gets better when you exit and walk through the back yard. It's a nice area to sit at and rest for a nice weather day. There are some nice buildings to look at as well. You can also have an opportunity to look at the donor bricks on the side of the building. I recommend this museum if you're a Castle Rock resident or visiting. I also recommend it if you live in Colorado. Take a trip to Castle Rock and have some breakfast or brunch before your museum visit. Make sure you check their hours of operation. Enjoy!

I told my wife she could pick whatever she wanted and we would split a medium. After our first visit we learned that the sandwiches are BIG! She ordered a medium BLT Cheese Steak. I was excited when I heard that is what she had decided on. Been a while since I have had a cheese steak sandwich. The woman at the cash register asked if we wanted sweet and/or hot peppers, we went with both! OMG, it could not have been better! Delicious, messy, spicy and BIG! I was so happy she picked that one, it was so darn good. I would order that sandwich again in a heart beat. I had to stop back by the order counter to let them know how super good it was. Love this place! Capriotti's is challenging me against even going to a couple of my favorite burger joints. Always so fresh and delicious! You know we will be back!!

I'll admit, this location is weirdly arranged and kind of small, but gets the job done. We were greeted by the woman behind the counter, placed our order (Hot Italian for me and Wagyu Cheesesteak for him) and within about 10 minutes our food was ready! Each sandwich is made from scratch each order, so the wait was no problem. My hot Italian was decent - would have loved if the bread was toasted, but was tasty, nonetheless. My husband was happy with his sandwich and chips as well. It is kind of pricey - but for the quality of food and today's prices, it's not terrible. Just something to be aware of! One criticism, I don't know if they were understaffed or what, but the entire space was filthy. Crumbs, lettuce, napkins and used cups were all over the tables, floors and counter. Just created a dirty vibe, but one that was quickly overlooked after clearing our own space and eating. Next time, I'll happily eat outside!
