I love that most of the upstairs is fully dedicated to the children. There's a mail truck, mailbox, and instructions to make a letter. You can even dress up like a mailman and deliver packages. They have games, puzzles, a large chess/checkers set, connect4, etc. they don't have a huge selection of books for kids or adults, but it's a wonderful place to curl up and read. I am writing to share a very concerning experience my son and his grandfather had during Story Time…read moreyesterday. From the moment they arrived, they felt they were treated differently than the other families in attendance. My son was not allowed to have any of the toys that other children were using. Later, when stamps were handed out to the children, every child received one except for my son. The librarian looked him up and down and intentionally moved on without giving him a stamp. My father-in-law also tried asking a few questions about Story Time, but instead of receiving help, he said the librarian raised her voice at both him and my young son. Throughout the program, she appeared to engage warmly with the other children while largely ignoring my son. This was incredibly hurtful for our family. Story Time should be a welcoming and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and treated with kindness. No child should leave feeling excluded. I hope you will look into this matter and ensure that all families are treated with respect and fairness. Thank you for taking the time to hear our concerns, and I would appreciate hearing what steps will be taken to address this situation.
