Elevator was a classic with push buttons that I haven't seen in an elevator in years. The hallway to our hotel room was nice and clean The room had two double beds and was clean. They even had an easy clean TV remote for the TV set. Slim LCD TV, Telemax Hotel phone system and the bathroom clean. Wifi is a bit of a challenge. You always have to log in if you are not using the internet after so many hours. The restaurant at the end of the hallway in the hotel was a bit pricey. More on that in my next review. I like the Best Western Chain and this location hasn't let me down. The hotel is much more cheery than when you drive downtown on a cold winters dreary day in Trail.

He instantly earned my trust, and made the entire time we were there enjoyable by providing suggestions to what was around for a family of weary travelers. The location itself looks a little old and dated on the outside, which made me second guess the help I received over the phone from Aaron, but I knew he had my back, and when I walked in I instantly felt that the stay was going to be alright. It met our expectations, the rooms were clean, and breakfast was there for us as well. Thanks for an enjoyable stay, its employees line Aaron that will keep people returning!

Disappointing Stay - Poor Sleep Due to Constant Noise, Faulty Heater, and No Real Compensation…read more We checked into The Adventure Hotel in Nelson on January 10, 2026, and checked out the next morning after a very frustrating night. Upon returning to our room in the evening, we discovered the TV wasn't working at all, so no chance to relax and unwind as planned. The real issue was the lack of sleep. The wall-mounted heater/cooling unit produced a loud, intermittent buzzing noise that went on all night - impossible to ignore. The floors were extremely creaky; even walking to the bathroom woke up my partner every time. To top it off, around 4 a.m., someone in the room above us started moving furniture or chairs, creating even more disruptive banging. When checking out, I politely explained the issues to the front desk staff and mentioned I hadn't slept at all due to the constant noise. I was hoping for some goodwill, like a significant discount or a future credit, but all we received was a generic apology and a note that the room would be added to the repair list. They also mentioned we could have called for a room change (they had availability), but who wants to pack up in the middle of the night, move, and try to settle back in just to get a few hours of rest? We've stayed at the Hume Hotel several times and always had excellent, quiet, comfortable experiences there. We decided to try the Adventure Hotel this time for a change, but it was a big mistake. The location is central, but the noise issues made it impossible to recommend. If you're a light sleeper, I'd steer clear and stick with more reliable options like the Hume. Would not stay here again. 1/5 stars.

Gave us restaurant coupons and a key with covid instruction for room service and walking through the halls and foyer. This hotel is lakeside view with a nice walking path and beautiful mountain view. Our room was spacious as well as very clean and stocked with a nice walkout patio with chairs or loungers to sit on, to enjoy the view. The attached restaurant Port701 just reopened in June 2020 with a new chef and servers. We used our coupons the times we were there. Breakfast was wonderful, Dinners fantastic. Really enjoyed our meals and service while we stayed at the hotel. Plenty of parking with a required pass when you check in. Everything is walking distance, uphill both ways. We had exercise whether we like it or not with all the walking we did. We enjoyed our stay that when we return on our next vacation we will definitely stay here again.

All the rooms on the lake view side have balconies or patios with lounge chairs and tables. The rooms are nicely appointed with comfy beds, modernized washrooms and they are sound insulated. Case in point: the room across the hall was blaring Brooks and Dunn, and while it could be heard in the hall, it was undetectable in our room. The on-site restaurant was delicious for breakfast and if you waive housekeeping during your stay, you get a $10 credit for the restaurant. We also tried the coffee shop, and that's a nice stop before walking to the business district or catching the trolley that stops nearby. Finally I also visited the on-site spa. While it's a small spa, my massage and mini facial were really relaxing and enjoyable.

There are shared washrooms with decent shower hours. The shower's water pressure was weak, but still did the job. There's parking, which is good. We stayed upstairs - there's no elevator so make sure you're able to carry your things up a flight of stairs. Overall, a welcoming, clean, quiet place. We would stay here again. PS - we've also stayed in other hotels in Nelson, and, honestly, for the value, I prefer the Dancing Bear - especially since we spent so little time in our room.

I ordered a well, well done (no pink) filet mignon meal. Let me tell you, compliments to the chef. I believe his name was Chef Paul. We arrived last minute without a reservation, and despite how busy the evening was, the team graciously found a way to squeeze us in and seat us beautifully. That alone set the tone for an outstanding experience. Our server, Richard, was absolutely wonderful--professional, kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. His service elevated the entire evening, and we felt well cared for the whole time. My mom ordered a well-done filet mignon (she doesn't like any pink at all), which can be a very difficult request. Somehow, the kitchen delivered a steak that was still tender, juicy, and full of flavor. She genuinely said it was the best steak she has ever had, complicated order and all--which says everything. I ordered the steak and prawns, cooked medium rare, and it was cooked to perfection. Rich, flavorful, and beautifully plated. We began with soup: I had the homemade borscht, which was comforting and delicious. My mom had the autumn squash soup, which was equally flavorful and well balanced. For drinks, my mom enjoyed a White Russian, and I had the non-alcoholic cranberry spritz, which was refreshing and thoughtfully crafted. Dessert was the perfect ending: Pumpkin pie for my mom Turtle cheesecake for me--absolutely decadent and memorable What made this experience even more special is that we traveled all the way from Spokane to dine here, and it exceeded every expectation. From accommodating us last minute on Christmas to the impeccable food and service, everything was exceptional. We will definitely be back and highly recommend the Hume Restaurant to anyone visiting Nelson. A truly top-tier dining experience.

Nope. No. Nyet. Nein…read more How many ways can I say no? We made reservations for two tent sites during our motorcycle trip across Canada. We are veterans of the tent camping at primitive sites / truck stop / RV park scene, so I'd offer that our standards are pretty reasonable and based in years of experience. We rolled in after putting in about 500 miles. Immediately upon approaching the site, we began having those weird gut feelings telling us something wasn't quite right. The site itself is built into a hillside and the retaining walls outlining the park are covered in graffiti. As soon as I put my kickstand down, I got a weird stare down from some sketchy tweeker who I couldn't tell if he was eyeballing my equipment or challenging me to a dance off. The tent sites here are akin to a homeless camp. Cramped, dirty, and full of some people of questionable intent. The RV portion is little more than a gravel parking lot that is nut to butt as far as spacing goes. A fellow motorcyclist from Australia approached us and told us that we'd be best served to move on. He pointed out the sketchy tweeker and his entourage of turds, stating that they were confrontational, rude, and frankly of questionable moral character. In all fairness, Nelson has kind of a hippie artist vibe to it, so I wasn't all that shocked that the campsite embraced that ethos. The staff at the campsite were completely professional and I felt that the attendant wasn't all that shocked that we decided to move on. He even offered up multiple other options in the area. Let me be clear. There is no way I would stay at this campsite with 5 grown men, let alone with my family or kids. If you are completely self contained in a van or RV with a way of securing your property, you'll probably be ok, but you'll be rolling the dice. Bring a knife and your best parachute pants. The chances of a dance off or knife fight breaking out are good.
