I am not from Carlisle, but had the opportunity to spend the day roaming the streets and just decided to pop in here. From what I understand they partner with different wineries and that determines what wine they have available to taste. You get four samples and they were good size pours too (also they have wine slushies!) I wasn't overly impresses with the wine, but the vibe was nice and on Saturdays they have live music -- this is going to be a small plug for the group they had playing, Country-Wise, because, though I didn't particularly care for the wine, I drank it all just so I could continue to sit there and listen to this absolutely entertaining group! The lead singer, he did all sorts of voices to go with the songs he sang and he did a really great version of "Do you wanna build a snowman?" It was fun to listen to and they played about an hour past when they should have wrapped up! Other places in the area! Book these guys! :) At any rate, I will go back for live music and maybe a new winery. read more

A nice surprise find! Great place to take out of town guests to sit and chat over sampling's of wines, and some ordered cheese/crackers. I'm not a wine connoisseur, so I couldn't tell you how special their wines are, but I know which ones I liked better than others. The staff was super friendly, welcoming and informative. A very relaxing atmosphere. Looking forward to going back to hang out, especially on their pitches in nice weather. A little pricey but going now and then is fine. read more

As I frequent at Castlerigg, I am continuously impressed by the service. Alan & Kathy, brother and sister, run the shop and make everyone feel welcome. As repeat customers, they have invested in building relationships with us and who doesn't love someone who can make a wine suggestion for you?! I love the food menu which also consists of recommended wine pairings for each small plate. They frequently have live music on the weekends and feature exciting things like Girl Scout cookie wine pairings. I love it here and will continue to come back! read more

Was very confused by the service of this place. We had stopped in to grab a bottle of wine on our way to dinner. My friend who is just a loud and very friendly person said "we are so excited to try some wine!", to which the employee responded by saying "sounds like you've had a bit too much to drink today, I won't be able to serve you." I understand precautions and law but it was very warranted. We had not had any drinks prior to so just going based off of someone's excitement level is odd. read more

Great little wine shop and tasting room in downtown Carlisle serving regional wines from Seven Mountains Wine Cellars in NE Penna. Owner Alan is incredibly knowledgeable and pleasant with customer service top of mind. Huge variety of wine to try and buy - red, white and at this time if year they even had a few ice wines. Highly recommend stopping by and trying it out! read more

Castlerigg is a great little shop in town with excellent wine from local PA wineries and wonderful appetizers to share. The staff is incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable about their product. The shop itself is set in a gorgeous historic house with comfortable seating perfect for small or large groups. The little gift shop is also a plus with local jams and jellies plus their full wine rack. If you like wine (or heck, even if you don't), this is a place to make a special trip for! read more

Great wine selection, rude service. I'd come back because of the wine, but the lady behind the counter was negative, unhappy and miserable. She wasn't pleased that we decided not to purchase the 5 tastings and opted to taste only 2 and purchase 1 glass. One would assume a woman working at a wine shop would be friendly and welcoming, but if you come here do not expect that kind of service. read more

This is a great place for date night! Very relaxed and intimate setting and the staff is very friendly. My wife and I had the 4 2oz tastings and the guy in the kilt was very helpful in his suggestions and food pairings. There was also live music, (the guy on the harmonica killed it!) and given that the main sitting area is pretty small, the music was not cranked so loud that you couldn't hear the person in front of you. Will definitely be going back. read more

Four is visited Castlerigg today and we were all very pleased. Alan was courteous, friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. We did a tasting and we all have different taste in wines and Alan made suggestions that met our needs. Their wines are amazing and we all purchased a couple of bottles. The shop is in an old building and the seating is comfortable. Alan checked on us occasionally and we never felt rushed. It was a great experience. My Pepsi didn't taste flavorful though Alyssa said she checked the soda bags and they were full. I swapped for sweetened ice tea. Alyssa was a super friendly server who checked on us regularly. We want to patronize local businesses but we probably wouldn't get our meals again and would try something else. Jenni said she'd rate our experience as a 2.5 which is exactly what I'd give so we're going to round up since maybe our experience was just a little off this evening.

We arrived around 7:15pm on what was easily the nicest Friday evening of the year so far, and the place was PACKED. Line out the door, people everywhere, full-on "this must be good" energy. But here's the impressive part -- the line moved FAST. Before I knew it, I was inside trying to make one of life's hardest decisions: choosing a flavor. Leo's offers a huge variety of homemade ice cream flavors, and you can tell they take pride in having something for everyone. From classic favorites to more creative options -- and even a sugar-free vanilla option -- there's a ton to choose from. I genuinely stood there for a minute just taking it all in. I ultimately went with a kid's dish of S'mores, and WOW...this was easily one of the best S'mores ice creams I've ever had. Super creamy, perfectly balanced, and packed with flavor. The graham cracker, chocolate, and marshmallow all showed up exactly how they should -- no one ingredient overpowering the others. Just smooth, nostalgic, campfire-in-a-bowl perfection. Also, can we talk about value for a second? $3.50 for a kid's dish? In this economy?! Absolutely worth it. One of the biggest surprises, though, was the space itself. There's plenty of on-site parking, and out back is a huge picnic area with tables, chairs, and even a covered patio. It's the kind of setup that makes you want to linger -- not just grab ice cream and go. Total summer evening vibes. And I have to give a quick shoutout to something I deeply appreciate: their hours. Leo keeps it simple -- open every day from 12pm to 9pm. No guessing, no seasonal "are they open today?" confusion, no wonky schedule to keep track of. Just consistent, reliable ice cream access, which I respect immensely. Now that I know Leo's exists, it's officially in my regular rotation. I already have a mental list of flavors I need to go back and try (including that sugar-free vanilla, because now I'm curious), and I can absolutely see myself spending warm evenings out back enjoying more of Leo's frozen goodness. Better late than never, I guess -- but wow, have I been missing out.

I immediately corrected that mistake by buying a ticket the moment I saw the event posted--and then started counting down the days. The concept alone sold me: a ticketed, adults-focused stroll through downtown Carlisle, with participating small businesses offering tastings, experiences, treats, and deals. Sweethearts of all kinds were welcome--couples, besties, gal pals--and dressing in red and pink for Valentine's vibes was strongly encouraged. Say less. Ticketing was super easy, and Georgie Lou's did a fantastic job with pre-event communication, especially via social media. One post in particular deserves a shout-out: a reminder to bring a bag to carry your treats. This is something I absolutely would not have thought about until I was awkwardly shoving sweet treats into my coat pockets. I came prepared with a small reusable shopping bag (pink, obviously), and by the end of the stroll it was completely full of sweets, trinkets, and purchases. Meanwhile, others were struggling with overflowing pockets alongside gloves, hats, maps, and life regrets. Lesson learned. Excellent advice! I found parking around 1pm and headed to Georgie Lou's to check in and grab my materials. The staff were incredibly friendly, checked my name off the list, and sent me on my way with a Map of Hearts, a button identifying me as an official 2026 Sweetheart Stroller, and a small sweet treat to kick things off. I also took some time to explore the shop itself--my first visit--and wow! They have managed to pack an impressive amount of nostalgic goodness into a small space. Total blasts from the past, plus candies I'd never seen before. Super fun shop! From there, the stroll itself was a delight. Georgie Lou's clearly put a lot of care into coordinating participating businesses, and it showed. Most spots offered sweet treats, discounts, or special offerings, but every single business was warm, welcoming, and happy to have folks stopping in. Even though I've done a few downtown Carlisle walk-style events before, I still discovered shops I'd never been in--and every purchase I made that day was from a place I was visiting for the first time. That alone feels like a win. Overall, this was a fantastic way to spend a few hours on a very chilly January Saturday. It got me out of the house, walking downtown, supporting local businesses, and discovering gems I usually zoom past while driving from Point A to Point B. I had such a great time that I jokingly asked if I could pre-register for next year... apparently that's "not a thing yet." Fine. I'll wait. :) This has officially been added to my annual tradition list. Great event, great execution, great vibes. Well done, Georgie Lou's!
