I love Nissley wines! I came for their tap the tanks event (I know i am late with this review lol) and I had so much fun. I learned so much and tasted a few good wines. Ended up leaving with two bottles of wine! I want to just say, that I absolutely fell in love with this place. It's beautiful. I've been twice since the event. This winery is beautiful and spacious. When you walk in, the aroma of wine fills your nose and is so delightful. We were happily greeted by Amy, who shared with us the winery story and told us it was family owned, which I appreciate. She also shared with us that all of the vineyards we passed by belonged to the winery(which was a lot). My husband and I enjoyed both flights of whites and reds. We also enjoyed the cheddar cheese, that was very fresh, and some pepper crackers. Amy continued to check on us and exemplified great hospitality. We decided to buy a bottle of the Naughty Marietta, which was a flavorful semi dry. Whether you have upstanding service like Amy provided or are just left alone with your wine and knick knacks, I truly believe this winery will be enjoyed. read more

Beautiful location with very friendly and welcoming staff. We chose the heritage wines flight. We liked the Keystone red and the sparkling wine the best. We saw they offer slushies, but maybe a future option would be to create a summer Sangria? Look forward to going back for a music night. read more

I've been wanting to come here forever. We went weeks ago. Atmosphere: this winery was easy to find. Plenty of parking nearby. It got chilly out so I walked to the car easily. It's flat so no worry about hills. Plenty of space to stretch out and bring a table and chairs. The stone building are beautiful. Food: they had 3 truck options. Lucky us! Beer: our favorite moo ducks was there that night. Wine: line moved very quick outside and you can go inside to purchase wine, if you prefer. Band: played everything from 50's to 90's. Stopped in for a tasting and was pleasantly surprised that they had live music. It was the perfect Saturday afternoon activity. I tried mostly dry and off dry wines and ended up walking away with a bottle of Rhapsody in Blue which is a lot for me since I don't normally lean towards whites. They also have a few dry rosès and reds which are usually wins with me. The candlelight and chambourcin were both good options as well. If my wine shelf wasn't already running over I would have picked those up to. But it gives me a reason to come back in a few weeks and pick up more wine. I also like the price range of the bottles it made me want to buy more! read more

One of my favorite locations in Lancaster County. A beautiful, sprawling property that's been lovingly restored. Take a tour of the vineyards and winery, stop in for a tasting and enjoy your bottle on a lawn chair or picnic table. During the warmer months that is a great place to spend an afternoon and evening with some of the fruited, sweeter wines. Take in a concert as part of their summer series and enjoy local food trucks and music. In terms of wine preferences, while I am normally more of a dry-red type of person, I enjoy Nissley's whites and rose options. The choices here tend to align more with picnic/back porch type wines rather than offerings I'd usually pair with a dinner. My top recommendation is the Rhapsody in Blue, with some crackers and light cheese. read more

What a wonderful hidden secret in Central PA. They have an excellent array of wInes, including the aptly named Naughty Marietta. The historical story of their origin and how they named the wines were interesting, and the canned blueberry and strawberry wines were quite good. The grapeful reds and whites were smooth and tasty as well. This is definitely a place to explore, especially on a lazy weekend day. You won't be disappointed. Oh, and the resident sheep dog was quite vocal but don't worry you won't get bit (well, at least I didn't)! read more

This was one of my favorite drives to a winery. When you pull into the driveway, it's a long stretch of drive to the winery. One each side is nothing but vineyards. As you pull into the winery, there are historic brick buildings and then this large building in the back where the winery is located. When you walk inside it's a small area for purchasing bottles or choosing what wines you want to sample. No sitting downstairs, they have an upstairs that is the wine making area. This is where you can seat or outside. This is a winery that is setup for outside seating only. They have a stage for concerts. Now the wine was all good from what I had tried. I really liked everything that we tasted. I'd love to go here when it's warm outside. Just so much real estate to get a glass or bottle and sit anywhere. read more

Could not ask for anything more! Would give this 10 stars if I could! The drive in is a bit of a meandering through their property, which totally sets the scene that you are at a beautiful vineyard. The ambience is phenomenal! Vineyards; old beautiful buildings; all in the name of wine. Picturesque as could be. But also so warm and cozy and comfortable. Inside of the old stone building, it feels like a cool wine cave. The restrooms are old, but clean, comfy, and serve their purpose. I was given their large (but not at all overwhelming) menu to pick from for my tasting. 6 tastings for $8, and I got to keep my glass. Fun! The whites I chose were very mellow & pleasant. I also tasted the cabernet sauvignon which I liked. Bottles were nicely priced ($14-20) so I bought a bottle to take home. I sat on the outdoor patio for my tasting, and the scenery was just divine. I could have sat there all day (and I got the impression they wouldn't have minded). Service was friendly & attentive, and not at all bothersome. I'm glad I ate beforehand, because I have food sensitivities (dairy & gluten) and there weren't any safe options for me. For those who don't have allergies/sensitivities, there are a couple of food choices which is really nice. It seems they have events and entertainment in the summer, so I look forward to checking those out! Have I mentioned the property is serene, so very peaceful, and picturesque?! I grew up in Lancaster; however, moved away in 2005. I returned on July 3rd, 2021 and decided to purchase tickets to Nissley Vineyards and particularly the Summer concert series that is held on Saturday night. I came here with my Husband, my Parents and his parents. We all ended up having a FANTASTIC night! First of all, the winery is a quiet and relaxing area. The music that night by the band called Josh Squared was awesome! They played from about 7:15 to 10:00pm and it was a great time the entire time. Of course, you come for the wine right? Yes, we certainly did; however, I also indulged in quite a few wine slushies! Oh my gosh, they were oh so good. There was also food available at food trucks/stands; however, we did just indulge in the alcohol/wine this time. read more

It's a beautiful place to spend a warm day. There are fields upon fields of grape vines and a great indoor barn to sample them. I'd recommend coming here on a Saturday night during the summer for their concert series. Bring chairs, a table, and food and enjoy the summer al fresco. They have all of their wines for purchase with cups and an opener. As well as ciders on tap and a few food trucks. The porta pottys are also the nicer ones that feel more like bathrooms. I have never visited Nissley before but have heard of (and passed by) this winery a thousand times. Last night a group of us stopped in to Nissely to celebrate a friend's birthday. We grabbed our chairs, some snacks and set out. Sadly the forecast called for rain and thunderstorms but we continued on, the storm passed through quickly and our night continued. There was a band playing music - which was excellent and made for an enjoyable evening. The grounds are beautiful. There are food trucks and wine slushees available...I had a piña colada one and it was refreshing and delicious. There are public restrooms, which I appreciate being clean! One + for me personally, no children are allowed. Now I love kids but sometimes there are times and venues where you go for the experience and not to be interrupted or disturbed by children or by parents tending to their children. I have already made plans to return and look forward to sampling some of their wines. read more

Went here for a Saturday Summerfest concert because a favorite local band was scheduled. The weather forecast looked ominous but we chose to try it. We didn't even unpack our spread or drag out the table because the clouds and the radar were defining our night. We bought a few bottles of wine - a chilled Rose and a Cab Franc and settled in to wait. Just like that it was pouring. We headed up to the barn area for cover and the employees and owner - Jonas - were so accommodating. Jonas opened up the event space upstairs, but we hung out by the wine sales and chatted up the gentleman there. (I wish I had gotten his name, he was great!) we ended up dancing the night away in the rain to some of the best music all while drinking some fabulous wine. (Ok maybe more than just some wine..) The food truck smelled amazing and the food that I saw passing by looked pretty tasty. It was a fantastic night, rain and all. I have been here for other concerts and folks put out big spreads on cloth covered tables with candlesticks and fine China while others opt for more casual picnic fare. I attended my first Yelp event @ Nissley Vineyards. The event was a lot of fun, enjoyable and well produced. It consisted of a wine flight focused on either dry or sweet wines along with a detailed narrative of each flavor as told by a Nissley family member. Of course, there was plenty of interaction and discussion with the other event attendees. The winery grounds and event venue had a lot of appeal. The staff was very nice & helpful throughout the visit. Definitely recommended as a stop for a day adventure. read more

Visited here on 10/31/20...Fantastic outdoor seating. We were lucky enough to get a table with a propane fire in the middle. Two different tables had this options. The other tables had propane heaters placed in between tables. Beautiful scenery with a perfect, laid back atmosphere. I'm not a super fancy guy but I never felt out of place in my hoodie. My wife and I each purchased a tasting. Each tasting came with 6 different wines. Each taste was a pretty small taste, but cannot complain considering the price. The dry wines (merlot and cab sav) were not bad at all. Their sweets were definitely their jam. Good, complex flavore all around. This isn't a napa level winery...buy pretty good for Lancaster! Definitely worth the trip! read more

My husband and I recently visited a bunch of wineries near York, PA. Nissley was hands down our favorite. Not only did we enjoy many of their wines but they were also reasonable priced around $15.00 a bottle. Many of the other wineries we visited had many super sweet wines priced around $20.00 a bottle. Bill Gulvin the long time winemaker here was named WineMaker of the Year!! He's an incredibly gifted winemaker has made wine there over 2 decades. I personally am a big fan of their apple wine - if you like cider, check this out, it's better than cider. Crisp and Delicious are the best words I can use to describe it. However they make many wines - both dry and sweet from traditional grape varietals as well as well structured fruit wines that are worth trying even if you are a Calif. wine enthusiast - step out of your box and try a Seyval Blanc and I also love the Vidal blanc (both dry style = less than .5% residual sugar). I find these wines to be more representative of Spain, France, and Italian dry whites with some acidity and varietal character. When you taste here it's free which is awesome - seems everywhere charges you something anymore. I do believe the satellite locations charge a small fee. But more importantly take some friends, sample the wines and buy a bottle and go enjoy the area. They have some massive very old and very large trees in the area that are just stunning to relax in the shade and enjoy some good vino and good company. If you're in or near Central Penn - this is one of the best places to explore. This isn't new people doing what everyone else is doing - they're esteeped in tradition and really know how to make great vino. This Winemaker William Gulvin has received many many Gold Awards for all of the wines he produces. During Summer time - hit one of the many Concerts they do on this beautiful property! read more

Wine tasting was free. We like that you got to try 8 different wines, compared to the normal 4-6 at other wineries. The staff wasn't overly friendly or talkative. They kind of seemed to want to get you in and out. The candlelight wine was one of our favorites, but it's only available at Christmas time. We loved many of their dry red wines (but those are usually our favorites). The overall atmosphere is beautiful from the old barn-like building where you taste and purchase wines and the ground are well cared for. We would all definitely go again. read more

Cool day trip, I was surprised to learn there are nearly a dozen wineries in or around York county. Nissley is a beautiful and historic looking winery. Plenty of wines to choose from, most likely you'll find something to suit your taste. What I didn't like was that they limited our sampling and it cost money. Small winery. Not really much atmosphere in comparison to other vineyards I've been to. Wines were good, I bought a bottle of the Fantasy to take home. Tasting was cheap, but you go what you paid for. If you want a more elegant tasting experience I suggest going somewhere else. Not as scenic as other winery's but still nice to look at. read more

Thanks to Nissley and Yelp I scored some free tickets to one of their concerts. My husband and I have been enjoying Nissley concerts for several years. We just love it there. Beautiful grounds, easy parking and delicious wine. You can go with an elaborate spread or just a chair or blanket. Always good food available even though we usually take our own. We're never had anything but a great time. Thanks to the Nissley family for the free tickets to this past weekend's concert with Mama Tried Band, they were awesome. read more

We really enjoyed the property and the wine. They are well equipped for their large concerts. The only downside is the occasional smoker. They ask that you don't smoke but it's not an ultimatum. The wine was great. I had a sweet red and a sweet white. Both were very good. I appreciate that you can bring your own picnic lunch. There are food trucks which both looked delicious. If it wasn't for the smoking I would have given it five stars. read more

It was a nice drive to the vineyard, located off Rt.441 north of Marietta. The grounds are lovely and I could see that it would be nice to enjoy the day there when they hold special events & concerts. I think Nissley has some of the better wines in York Co. You get 6-samples to try for free. I like fruit wine, so I ended up with a bottle of both of their cherry wines. They are truly cherry wine, not just grape wine mixed with flavoring. Nice little winery. The entire operation is located in an old barn / tobacco drying building. Its a backwoods kind of place. Not the most modern/cleanest/efficient, but had a nice feel to it. The self tour was fun and the tasting was OK. Sort of felt a little like we were in an assembly line, and not really sure what the juggler dude was doing at the end of the tour, but it was fun. My husband and I wanted a date night we have a sick child and haven't been able to go out in awhile. This was an horrible choice! We arrived early and I bought our tickets online yet they had one line, including the people who needed to purchase tickets at that time, we had to wait in line for 20 minutes just to get in. Then we went to get a bottle of wine, we had to wait 20-25 minutes again simply to get a drink. The band was atrocious! I believe they might have been sampling the wine. As the night went on I had to use the restroom. The line for the bathroom was once more, a nightmare. I had to wait for over 30 minutes, I almost urinated myself. In the past they had port-a-potty's but, I guess that was asking too much! The finale was when we went to leave some man screamed "honey show that guy your breasts"! The guy he was referring to was my husband! I didn't know we were going to a strip club... I don't recommend this place at all! I will never go back or even buy the wine anymore! read more

Ventured out to York from Philly for the day to see some of the countryside and visit some wineries. We stopped at Nissley, which was tucked away within farm-land and corn fields. The grouds were beautiful and serene and the wines were pretty good too. I would recommend this as a great place to get away, have a picnic and drink some wine.
