So we went to Kelly's Transmissions - the first report could have been better as the part was on backorder, and they had no time estimate. Ray and I discussed looking for aftermarket or other alternatives. To make a long story short - working with Ray was a pleasure. He was straight up with no feeble excuses. Even though the part is still on backorder - they were able to identify the cause of the issue and resolve the transmission problem. These guys saved me over $3400 - and my vehicle is running great.

Came in for two issues: 1) My car was making a knocking…read moresound whenever I turned the steering wheel 2) Needed new tires I had received quotes from a couple other businesses in the area and brought them with me on my visit. I always come prepared so I don't get taken advantage of. For issue #1 (knocking sound), they were able to fix the issue cheaper here than at other shops, mainly because they just replaced the strut housing instead of the entire strut. I was happy to save some money on this issue. For issue #2 (tires), I brought with me a quote from Pep Boys up in Tucson that included four new tires with a 65000 tread life warranty. Jesus said he could match that installed price for tires that also included 65000 mile tread warranty. However, now, a month after the service, I decided to research the tires they put on my vehicle just to make sure everything was kosher (I know, I should've done this immediately, lesson learned). Unfortunately the tires they put on are Goodyear Assurance Finesse which have NO tread life warranty. I wish I had the service done at Pep Boys for the better tires at the same price. So I'm going to have to knock off a couple stars for that. It also took them almost two weeks to fix the above issues. Jesus said it was because they didn't realize the strut housing was more pieces than they originally thought, and they had to order the extra parts in (they did not charge me extra for them). I'm just glad I had a backup vehicle I could use because it would've sucked to not have a car for two weeks. I'm not going to take any extra stars off for this since, in fairness, I told them they could have the car as long as they needed since I had a backup vehicle. I just didn't think it would take two weeks. One other thing to be aware of is that they charge an extra 3% if you want to use your credit/debit card. Overall, I feel a little disappointed about the tire issue, but the knocking sound hasn't returned a month after I had the service done, so they did that part well.

I started calling after 5 months asking if they know anything yet. He said that one of his guys quit so he's backed up. Another month went by and I called again. He said it's on the bench and they're starting to tear into it. The hard parts look good but rubber parts need to be replaced. Another month went by, called him again. Same exact statement as last month. He told me he'd get a list of parts and call his supplier for a price and let me know. Never did. I went with my truck to see the progress. Got there at the end of August and asked to see it. It was on the bench totally intact. I took it to Kelly's tranny shop. I know I said no hurry but seven months and three lies later, I was done with them. He was nice enough and losing a tech sucks but he could've been honest about the status of my tranny.

When someone is in need of road service there's no need to be inpatient and short because I didn't know the names of where my car broke down. There are other stresses involved as it is. Bottom line he said since I didn't know where I was he could let AAA know to send another service to help me. After 30 minutes of waiting, in 95 degree heat and off a major highway. Wow! Not even sure why AAA after all these years of being a customer would use such an I'm unempathetic and unprofessional company. God actually did send an angel to my rescue and took care of me.
