It feels so good to have timed the interest rate market right! It is so difficult to do that and I can honestly say that we did it thanks to Chris Matsuoka from Catalyst Mortgage. We brought our dream home in December 2023 at a great price but not so great rate. In September 2024 our mortgage company offered us to refinance with zero lender fees so we felt it was a great deal to go from 7.375% to 6.5%. We were pretty far into the process when my husband received a text from Catalyst Mortgage offering us a rate in the high 4% which we knew was too good to be true but decided to call. After having a quick conversation with Chris, he offered us a more realistic offer which was 5.875% with zero points, some reasonable lender fees. We decided it was still worth it to save more money on our monthly payment. Chris was very responsive and made the whole experience seamless. He locked our rate one day after the fed rate cut. Mortgage rates actually went up instead of down and he honored his initial offer of 5.875%. He took care of us even during some hiccups with closing and tax bills from the previous owner that increased our closing costs. Chris talked to the right people at the title company and in the end, we didn't have to pay the previous owners bills and also gave me guidance on how to go about getting that issue resolved. We closed in record time. 7 business days after our application was submitted and we just made our first payment. It feels great to see that we made the right choice in switching lenders as the rates have continued to increase and we are so happy we got to save $360 on our mortgage payment. Based on your profile, you qualify to refi & pull CASH OUT-lower your rate, save thousands yearly! Rates as low as 5.477% APR 30 TERM, skip 2 payments, up to 100% CLTV. Get your quote now in minutes-no credit check. Call or text me at 916-606-0219, I hope to hear from you soon!" They rotate their phone numbers every few days and there is no way to opt-out. I've filed a complaint with the both the FTC and the CA State Attorney's office. read more

Karin Kwong is amazing! She understands the mortgage business very well. I didn't find a question that she couldn't answer. I started working with Karin when I found my credit card balances were sinking me. I have no doubt that there's others in the same circumstances. I wanted to leverage the equity in my home to pay off my debts. Also, I didn't want to refinance my home mortgage because it has a low 2.75% interest rate. Every lender that I spoke to (prior to Karin), said that they heard me, but then they would only offer me loans that would require me to refinance my original 2.75% mortgage. They all lied to me except for Karin. When my portfolio wasn't looking so good, due to the high balances on my credit cards, and my credit rating had taken a hit from having high balances. Karin performed magic! She was able to get my HELOC (Home Equity Line of Credit) and talked me off the ledge when it looked dire. My life has only improved because of Karin. I know that sounds dramatic, but it is true. I paid off my credit card debts, and no longer feel the weight of those debts anymore. Anyone suffering from high interest debt,( mine was 30%+) understands how desperate you can feel. In the end, my credit cards are paid off, which immediately improved my credit score, and I received some additional cash to get some needed renovations done. It's a spam/scam outfit. A call that showed 628-209-1468 as the source phone number had a woman ("Lane") asking for someone (William Ramsdell) who has never lived at the subject address. She said they work with credit reporting companies, Trans Union, etc. and claimed that our number was listed on (something undefined). I asked for the company name and she took a long time to find and spell it. I asked company address-she seemed gobsmacked, then gave a phony address (2945 Townsgate Road, Roseville, CA, not address on their website). When I asked for company owner, she hung up. Attempts to call back-guess what? Hung up, and second try met with a garbled unintelligible "Hi, it's xxxxx." I did leave a very appropriate message. I tried the 916 number, too-"mailbox full." It's a scam. If they bother you, report the company. If they really are a mtg lender, they are subject to a lot of regulations. read more

Catalyst Mortgage calls me every day even though I'm not on the market for a mortgage. I've explained this to their rep and asked that I be removed from their call list. This was months ago and I still get calls daily through spoofing numbers. I'm now using Robokiller to block calls, they still call EVERY DAY. Do not engage with this company, they'll never leave you alone. UPDATE: Since the response from Catalyst to this review I am receiving MORE calls then before and I signed up for the opt out. The person I worked with was responsive, but the deal wasn't as described when it was finalized. They required a loan payment even tho my loan has been sold before I signed the loan docs. I was also told that I'd skip two months of loan payments. I skipped none.
