Even this vet was mostly seeing dogs today. But they have a clearly dedicated Cat Room with Feliway, Treats, and even a cat wall picture to let you know it's a cat room. Very nice staff and very helpful. Everyone treated my cats with kindness. They did take them in the back for bloodwork. The Dr. spoke as if she did bloodwork, rather than a nurse. Nurse was very nice and made my cats feel comfortable. I thought they were the Dr. at first, they felt knowledgeable as well.

I was quite embarrassed. The Dr was patient, explained everything to me, and gave me medicine to stop her from scratching. She hasn't scratched herself today at all. Dr we met with was trying to see if there was a cheaper option to help us out but decided to go with stitches. It's nice to see someone actually trying to fix the problem without throwing a checkbook at you. Price for: visit, putting the dog under, stitches, medication, and a cone was $110. Other places wanted $100-$200 just to see the dog. Will be talking all 6 of our animals here from now on and gained our business. Wish I found this place sooner. 5 stars every time.

The Dr was great, explaining what was happening, what could cause it and the best course of action. Monday morning his staff called to check on Max. Later that night I started having some concerns and called the answering service. Dr Thorsen called right back and talked me through some things to do to help Max feel better, even offered to see him that night, even though it was after hours. He ended up having to keep Max for a few days to perform a procedure. The staff was very attentive to both Max and me when I came to check on him every day. They cuddled with him and talked to him to make him feel better the whole time he was in the "hospital". When I brought him home, they called to check on him. I'm switching to Dr Thorsen, I've never seen anyone be to attentive to my pet and me too!

But this isn't about them, this is about the heroes that saved the day...and Oscar's tushie (he had...hmmm, how to put this delicately...a big poop stuck in his little backside). lol. It's easy to laugh about it now, but it was horrible when it was happening. The great staff & doc at University Avenue Vet Clinic were ready and waiting for us. They took him to Crawford Road Vet in Phenix City to have an infection on his ear drained. After the surgery they gave him an additional sedative. They picked him up at 4:30, and were told everything was fine- his ear wasn't too serious and he would be fine- and he died in the hallway of their house right as he was coming home. If you love your babies- DO NOT TAKE THEM THERE.

We recently moved to the area and took our dog here to establish care. Our dog has a disease that…read morewe discovered about a year ago, so finding a vet we could trust as soon as possible in Columbus was very important to us. The vet tech picked our dog up with one arm around her stomach and the other around her neck while she was clearly uncomfortable and squirming to get away. Throughout the visit, the vet seemed more focused on talking about politics than listening to our concerns about our dog's health. We were only there to establish care and inform the vet of our dog's disease. We didn't need any additional treatment. Our previous vet had advised that our dog be retested around the six-month mark for her specific condition, but the vet here ignored that and went ahead with another test. We explained that our previous vet had told us our dog may test positive for this disease for the rest of her life, and that it's her levels that really matter not just the presence of the disease itself. Our previous vet would always send off her labs and call within 48 hours with detailed results. This vet did not send off her labs at all; he simply saw a positive test and prescribed more medication. He prescribed a stronger round of medication that our dog had just finished taking two months prior and charged us around $250 for pills that had cost $36 at our previous vet. He kept saying that he was really going to get rid of it this time. When we called our old vet for advice, they told us absolutely not to give those pills. They stated it was too soon and could make her sick. We were already thinking this and is exactly why we called them to confirm. We have since taken our dog to another local vet, who took their time to send our dogs labs off, confirmed she is asymptomatic, her levels have gone down, and she does not need more medication at this time. All of this could have been avoided if the vet had taken the time to listen and focus on our dog's actual medical needs instead of political conversation.

Compassion, empathy, patience when it came to this emotional end, devastating situation he was not compassionate and gentle with my dog. He was more focused on a measly $40 that the receptionist forgot to charge me. On my dog, I will never return to this clinic like I said the staff was amazing but the vet doctor was horrible. Bad attitude.
