Clove Brook Market Bakery Deli - Best homemade pies in all of Sussex county. Fresh fruit not preserves 2 inches thick. Best bakery hands down!

    Clove Brook Market Bakery Deli

I've been going to this deli for the past two years and have noticed several things:…read more 1. The sandwiches contain less meat than they used to and are priced higher. They employ an old deli trick of piling the meat in the center of the sandwich which when cut in half makes it look like it has more meat than it really does. The recent Jersey sandwich which contains corned beef, roast beef and turkey had only two slices of corned beef. 2. Different employees will charge or not charge sales tax on the sandwiches and prepared salads. 3. The baked goods are very over priced. I mean come on, $12.95 for a 7 in. by 7 in. crumb cake (yes I measured it).. On the plus side all the employees I've encountered are always courteous and hard working. My wife likes the prepared salads but they are now over $10.00. If the price increases continue at the current rate I will have to go elsewhere although in Sussex county the choices are limited.

Their pies are 2 inches thick and fresh fruit not preserves. This pie had whole strawberries, bananas, blueberries and more. It was scrumptious as well as their cookie and apple pies. But, everything is amazing there. If you're looking for the best bakery in Sussex county Clove Brook is the one and only. Oh, and the ambiance is clean, and the cutest real country vibe. #best #bakery #sussexcounty #perfection

Sitting proudly on a corner along Route 23 in Sussex, New Jersey, the building has been welcoming visitors for well over 150 years. Sussex itself is one of those old Industry towns that's always trying to reinvent itself and breathe new life into its downtown. Whether it's completely succeeded is open for friendly debate, but the Early American Tavern has remained a constant through it all. Over the years it's served as a Union recruiting station during the Civil War, later as an inn, and today as a warm, rustic tavern where the beer is cold, the food is hearty, and nobody seems to be in much of a hurry -- which is exactly how a place like this should feel. We kicked things off with the fried pierogi, which were satisfying comfort food done right, along with a crock of French onion soup. I should admit that I'm hopelessly biased when it comes to French onion soup--I could probably find a way to enjoy it served in a coffee mug. We had originally set our sights on the Bacon Bombs, only to discover they'd recently sold out. Apparently we weren't the only ones who got that memo. For my entrée, I ordered the traditional fried chicken dinner. Crispy, flavorful, and surprisingly accompanied by parsnips, which was an unexpected but genuinely welcome touch. It's always nice when a classic meal throws in a little something different without trying too hard to reinvent itself. The menu is extensive and seems to rotate plenty of specials, giving regulars a reason to keep coming back. In the end, that's really the charm of the Early American Tavern. It's an old tavern in an old town that wears its history proudly. While Sussex continues figuring out what its next chapter looks like, this place already knows exactly what it is -- and judging by the full tables and familiar faces, the locals wouldn't have it any other way.
