Jennifer is one of only two certified teachers in the state for the rigorous Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) curriculum. Through her focus on theory, ear training, performance, and the Zia Festival of Music, my granddaughter gained invaluable experience and even had the opportunity to perform a concerto as a featured soloist with the Symphony of Albuquerque. Jennifer has also prepared students, including my granddaughter, to audition and perform in London at the Star Prize Festival at Albert Hall. My overall experience with AIM as a school was disappointing. A major expansion raised costs without adding meaningful value, and policies became increasingly rigid. After three separate experiences with well-meaning but ill-prepared substitute teachers who did not know the RCM curriculum or my granddaughter's level, I insisted that any makeups be scheduled only with Jennifer. The tipping point came during this year's festival. After all the time and hard work my granddaughter and Jennifer invested, the director, Tatyana, arranged the pianos back-to-back, making it impossible for the pianists to see or communicate with each other, even after we offered to reposition them. Although my granddaughter still earned a superior rating, she left feeling frustrated, and things deteriorated from there. Jennifer left AIM in April--a major loss, and the only reason we stayed as long as we did. With her departure, AIM lost its certified RCM instructor and the Zia Festival that she had brought to the school. We left as soon as we fulfilled our 30-day notice and are now paying a lot less with no loss in instruction, but with much more flexibility.

I took a chance on an electric guitar on eBay made in Germany in the 60s from Canada and found it to be rather intriguing. The neck had been broken and glued back terribly literally making it look terrible and unplayable! I took it to Kauppila and although John took forever to not only contact me but months went on and on! And finally one day I went back to his shop and I left a note threatening John with court! He responded soon after and made arrangements for me to come after all he still needed to do some work on it! And he explained to be that unfortunately his business had been broken into causing him a tremendous loss! John calls and tells me to come for the guitar I'd left with him for almost 7-8 months. Fixed it and I couldn't be more blessed! Unfortunately, John is leaving the New Mexico he truly loves to a new adventure in New York! Gods speed and blessings John you will definitely succeed in whatever your future endeavors are! Again, Thank you for your service and most of all your honesty!
