The sales staff, is not very engaged with the customer. They tend to be more pre-occupied with prepping the used instrument that come in also when you enquire about an item they say they don't know or you get ignored. Some but not all the staff have this rudeness to them. Not a very welcoming environment, because this is Albuquerque New Mexico your options in music instrument stores is very limited you only have two that have any inventory at all thats music go round and guitar center. Took my amp there to sell. They Called me and said $80 cash or $88 store credit. I went over there to get the cash. They said let us test the amp first. I assumed they already did. Ended up giving me nothing. Wasted a lot of time. Guy behind counter also told me my truck was too far and he didn't have the time to help me load of offload my amp. read more

Arrived at the store on a Saturday morning and was greeted immediately by several of the staff including a man named Ty. I showed him a picture of the electric guitar that I was interested in, and he guided me to the location of the guitar. I requested to borrow a pick, tuner, and strap. There was no delay in meeting my request. While I was tuning the guitar the high E string broke. I was told it was not my fault and a new string was quickly installed by another staff member. I asked to hear the guitar through an amplifier. Although Ty was busy, right away he got me set up with an amplifier. I played the guitar and decided to buy it. They put the guitar on hold while I went home to get a guitar for trade-in. I returned. I was given a good price for the trade-in guitar. I ended up with a brand new black and gold ESP LTD-1000 DELUXE, B-stock guitar having all the factory tags and removable protective film on the components. I see no defects and it plays, looks, and sounds great. Overall, my experience with the staff, products, and prices at Albuquerque Music Go Round was very nice, actually, better than ever. read more

Not many businesses earn, or come close to deserving, a 5 Star rating. Music Go Round is a shining exception. My first trip in was an ordeal, not because of the store, or employees, but because I could barely speak (aphasia,) had tremors and seizures, and needed to be escorted in by my caregiver. Aaron, a young, affable, polite, and attentive gentleman helped us. He listened as my caregiver interpreted my grunts and swearing, helped pick out an inexpensive bass, amp, cords, and a couple picks. I wasn't able to play, the first few months, and wound up with some really old/dusty/worn pots issues in that first bass. I took it in, looking at a new bass, and to see about buying pots to fix it, instead, they replaced the pots and adjusted the setup, free, and encouraged me to keep practicing and coming back! I've since regained the ability to speak and interact, I've overcome the majority of my seizure, muscle spasms, and even memory issues. I've got a collection of 3 distinct basses, a nice amp, Stratocaster, and bass pedal array, all from Music Go Round. I run, exclusively GHS Precision flats, on all my Fender/Squier gear, and exclusively buy here. Instead of charging me, over and over, to set up my basses, they demonstrated for me some things like neck adjustment, intonation, and bridge height adjustment. Helping me change my life, encouraging me, helping in rebuilding me... I've spent a lot of time in the bass corner, and have seen my experience is not unique. Once upon a time in my youthier youth I tried to be a musician. Fourth grader me decided that I would be a rock star, although, I lacked almost any and all tone, pitch, and rhythm. Needless to say after two and a half years, I hated practicing, I couldn't read music, and I could still only play Celine Dion's, "My Heart Will Go On" in notes and definitely not in chords. I still lack any sort of musical talent unless you count scream singing "Karma Chameleon" in the car as a talent. If I were musically inclined though I would definitely check out Music Go Round. The staff is beyond excellent, knowledgable, and willing to go out on a limb to make their customers happy. Transactions are usually ended with a firm handshake, a smile, and a "it is such a pleasure to have you in today!" I'm sorry, but you just don't see that kind and level of customer service these days. It looks like they also have a HUGE selection of musical instruments, as well as Kazoos, in case you're trying to start out a little bit smaller and move towards more serious instruments. If you're looking for something though, I'm sure they have it, and what's even better is these are instruments that are getting a second chance at life. You can trade in your old drums for a new guitar, you can trade in your old guitar for a different guitar, you have so many options and it means that your old/used equipment can be removed from your closet and get put in the hands of someone who will use it all the time! I've been coming here for years, my band has played shows with some of the employees bands over the years and playing at a show or playing in store trying out new/used gear. they always treat you with respect and answer all your questions about gear. I've sold and bought guitars,pedals and amps there.They got layaway there which is real convenient for musicians who have to pinch there pennies from time to time. Not a bad store but what they don't want you to know is most of the guitars sold as "Used" are actually factory seconds. These are new guitars that have flaws from the factory. I was in there last week and most of the guitars were this way. Not the most honest business practice for sure. read more

Mauricio "Mo" is the best! The prices are great, and it's nice to trade in and trade up. Unlike Guitar Center (that grossly mistreats their employees, which I have witnessed), the staff seems happy and are always helpful. The owner promotes local shows on his windows, which is very cool. I like that's it's locally owned, and that everyone who works there seems to really care about their fellow musicians. I never have a problem finding what I need there. read more

I've been a musician for over twenty years, and in that time I've often bought and sold at music go round locations across the u.s.- not the best of options for value in a trade, but convenient in a pinch. The manner in which I was treated by the Albuquerque music go round staff is deplorable. Three staff took thirty minutes to 'evaluate' my trade-ins. I was offered a low ball value (as expected). We ending up at a decent compromise. Then, a salesman 'tested' my amp and discovered the very defect I had already mentioned. He bellowed, "whoa!!" while looking my way, loud enough to alert the entire store. "What's that?" He called to me with a chuckle, shaking his head. Another thirty minutes later he approached me and said they were passing on the amp. He cited the issue described and he claimed the compressor was faulty. The latter was flat out wrong (it works fine) and the former he said "no problem" to before his dramatic presentation of what a faulty input sounds like. An hour was way too long to wait for the end result. I'd advise caution if you're interested in being treated with respect by any of the staff at this location. The others I interacted with were not friendly either. A lot of pomp and pride. I've seen it before. You run in to a fair share of folks fascinated by their own abilities and knowledge of gear, etc., at music stores. But this experience takes the cake for me. These guys are in need of customer service training. I'll never shop there again. I suggest you pass too. read more

The best guitar shopping in New Mexico hands down. I drive an hour from Santa Fe just to see what they've gotten in since my last visit. There were definitely more "gems" to be found 10-15 years ago (before eBay took over) but there are still cool guitars and good values here. Staff is always friendly. read more

I have played guitar for more than 20 years. I own 14 of the things and a room full of studio rack equipment including things like a Mesa/Boogie Studio Pre and a Marshall JCM900 SL-X a full Yamaha electronic drum kit, and all sorts of stuff I don't use and wanted to get rid of. Too bad the dudes at Music Go Round were too busy stroking each other at the counter to bother with their customers. I saw a specific guitar on the web and went down there in the middle of the day with trade possibilities loaded in my car only to be blown off by the poseur boys at the counter. No one else was in the store. I went directly to the guitar and took it off the rack and played it, no one budged. I walked around looking for an amp to plug it in to, no one budged. I put the guitar back on the rack and walked out. I am damn tired of this kind of thing in Albuquerque. I've been out of this scene for 10 years and so far the only person worth a damn has been Kevin at Grumpy's guitars.
