I called in, spoke to them twice, then made an appointment to go up from Santa Fe to see some pianos. It was not only exciting, but quite lovely having the entire store to myself to explore what piano would work for me; especially since I was a tad nervous since I had not played in quite sometime. Neal could not have been more sensitive to my needs and vulnerability. He played like a virtuoso so I could get the full range of the sound; I played to feel the sound and the piano itself. I had the best of both worlds. Going in I wanted a used piano; but after playing a new Yamaha all bets were off. I have played used all my life, so having a new piano all of my own really was not only heartfelt, but personally intimate. The new one I played on the floor was butter; brand new, on the floor only a few weeks; but what 'made the butter melt' was when I asked Neal if he had the same one that was still in the box that no one had played, and he was more than accommodating. Who does that? You will not find the kind of service we experienced anywhere when it comes to buying a piano; and I can tell you Anthony and Neal went 'full monty' on taking care of us and our situation. You guys at Pianowerkes made my New Year! But it does take a team to make a village, so I wanted to also give a big thanks to Adam - 'piano mover extraordinaire' and his two men team who got me my piano in record time before Christmas. THEY worked so hard to make sure that customers were able to get their piano's before Christmas, moving pianos not only in the cold, but across state lines. Now you tell me... if you were to purchase a piano, wouldn't you want to experience the stellar customer service we had? Or take your chances somewhere else....

Well, nearly free…read more Our kiddo's piano teacher heard about a 1930 Chickering baby grand that had to leave a north valley home because the couple living there was "downsizing" so she asked us if we wanted to claim it. Yup, you bet we did. Our little Yamaha had served its purpose, but c'mon, who wouldn't want one of these historical beauties in the living room? When it was delivered, I suddenly had my reservations. This is a review of the moving company so I guess I'll add relevant information: 1) I really enjoyed the friendly, knowledgeable movers, two of them moved everything in and out. They were not masked and in retrospect that's not cool, not during COVID. 2) They claimed they forgot to blow the dust out of the piano, which either was true or a slightly underhanded way to get me to send the piano to their studio to be reconditioned. 3) The price was about as expected, $300. The piano needed to be tuned, of course, with several chords replaced, so in the end we got a free baby grand for about $700. I blew out the dust -- wasn't bad -- and reconditioned the keys and wood myself and I gotta say, not bad for an amatuer. This thing looks and sounds great in our home, and this is a company you can trust to do a good job moving inner-city.

The driver called when they were on the way to pick up the piano, and again with an ETA of when they would be at our house to deliver. The guys were very pleasant, professional, and knew what they were doing. Piano was perfectly placed and they even put floor protectors we had under the wheels of this beast because it is such a heavy piano. Would definitely use again and highly recommend.

Marco discussed with me how he would do this, and I showed him all the issues I would like to have corrected. He completed the work within the time frame he quoted and shipped the bow to my home in Durango CO. I am highly impressed with his craftmanship. The bow is now in like new condition and is a joy to play on each of my fine violins. I go into this store once a week for my lesson. The store is stocked with all sorts of musical supplies, books, and instruments. The store is always clean and the staff and owner have always been nothing but friendly. There have been times where my instrument needed some adjustments, and Miles has been right on whatever issue I may be having. Over the last year, they've made some expansions, especially in the service department. I've even bought two instruments from them, and I've sold back one instrument. I'm even grateful for the few restrooms that they have. They are always clean. It's a great store!

Was wonderful with my niece who was in a super-difficult phase of her childhood and I credit him with her continuing appreciation for really cool music. If I were to take piano lessons again as an adult, I'd definitely go to Mark because he has such a deep love and understanding of music, I think he'd know how to adapt his teaching methods to any level of ability and maturity, and he's just so smart.

You won't hear many parents make these kinds of statements, but I'm willing to go out on a limb, here, and say that while she's not a Prodigy, perhaps, she's far more capable than, say, your kid. It's not like we had her tested, or something, we're just objective observers, sitting at the same recitals you are, looking at the crop of 'em, listening to their pathetic attempts to make their cellos sing. It's pretty obvious, isn't it? All of her teachers say it, too. She's exceptional. So you can trust this review. Our exceptional kid has enjoyed her experience at this school, and we're glad they're grooming her for Julliard. The building made some ventilation updates during the second half of 2020 to mellow our COVID concerns, too. Our main issue is the billing process. We pay a fixed, monthly charge for instruction, yet for any number of reasons, during any month, her class time can be cut in half -- think school break periods, holidays, that sort of thing. It's super inconsistent. Paying per class is simply a smarter way to go. We like smarter. We raised it.
