Cathy's was a great time. I have been coming up to Cathy's for like ten years. Cathy's is a small building it is bright yellow and super cute. It has great hours so if you want a late night sweet you can get it. It closes at 10pm. It has plenty of different flavors. My favorite flavor is pirates bounty. It is caramel ice cream with chocolate, m and m's, and brownies pieces. It is mouth watering delicious. There is other flavors including After dinner mint, chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, raspberry truffle, sea salt, superman, blue moon, caramel nut, toasted almond fudge, mint bon bon, banana cream, cotton candy, sorbet, and other ones. You can order them in cones, cups, milk shakes, malts, and Sundaes. The place has a cute candy shop with a very wide variety of sweets. It has salitte wafers, gummy bears, chocolates, and a lot of other kinds of candy. They also sell these soft animal stuffed animals, perfect if you have little kids. Cathy's sells cool t-shirts. They have a couple seats inside, but outside they have a bunch of tables, benches, and picnic tables. It has great views just from your seat. The service is outstanding. It is usually a bunch of teenagers working. They are super kind and very friendly. They are personable and they get to know you. It makes me welcomed. Also it suitable for anyone to come here. If you are in a wheelchair they have a ramp to enter. If you can't eat gluten there is gluten free options for you to choose from. Overall I had a great experience at Cathy's. In my opinion it is the best ice cream shop in the northwoods. read more

I've been coming to Cathy's since I was a kid and it never disappoints. My brothers and I love the Blue Moon ice cream! There is indoor and outdoor seating, although the indoor seating is limited. They do have a small dock you can pull up to if you're coming from the lake, but it probably can't accommodate larger boats or multiple boats at once. The candy selection has decreased over the years but they do have a fun options of candy, chocolate and ice cream! It can get pretty busy in the evenings and on warm days, but the line moves quickly and the staff is always welcoming and efficient. read more

Several years later..: I've revisited Cathy's. They've reduced their chocolate and candy selection, made the space a lot more open but no indoor seating yet. They have 35 different flavors of still overpriced ice cream but it all looks good. Plenty of outdoor seating. read more

Best ice cream around!! There are so many from to choose from so you can grantee there is something for everyone there. The shop itself is so cute and all the workers are very friendly. They are always wearing smiles which is nice to see. The shop has so many different candies of all sorts. Some of them I had never seen before. For ice cream I got (and always get) the French silk pie flavor. It is by far my favorite! The ice cream is sweet and chocolatey. I have a strong love for French silk pie and the ice cream tastes similar. The portions are huge! I got a junior scoop and couldn't finish it. So many fond memories from here for many, many years of coming up to the Northwoods. This is a "must-stop" Almost every trip. Love the flavors of ice cream and the portions are good sized. There is seating inside plus a wonderful and large deck with seating outside. We've been known to drive over and carry our ice cream back to the cabin but the best times were seated either inside or out, enjoying our treats while playing card games at the table. BEST ICE CREAM EVER. We make it a point to come here every single time we're in town. There service is a good and they have spaces inside and out to sit. During these times, they have the inside seating closed however. Flavors are of PLENTY and very generous portions. The only negative is the extremely long line, but they can't help their popularity! Cute little spot. You can access from the road or from Little St. Germain Lake. The access point to walk to the shop is not clearly marked from the water and a little hard to find if it's your first time there. Look for a small aluminum pier that leads to a grassy walk way. It's about. 0.1 mile walk from the water to the shop. Great ice cream flavors, okay prices and helpful staff. They even brought out a pup treat for our dog! read more

Such an integral part of my Northwoods childhood memories! A huge selection of ice cream, shakes, malts and sundaes. Its not possible to make a bad choice. My preference is definitely Lady Bug ice cream! Also there are so many candy choices ranging from the favorites you grew up with, to some new concoctions you'd never imagine! You can get some by the pound or by the package. The parking lot seems small but there is more space in the back so don't despair. When you walk in the door, to the left hanging on the wall is a little hook with numbers. Be sure to take one and they'll call your number. Crucial every evening when it gets really busy with families. There is limited seating inside, but the majority of the seating is on the outside patio which was such a fantastic addition. If you're driving through St. Germain be sure to stop! They are only open in the summer though so don't delay the season is almost over! read more

They have Bluemoon ice cream which frankly is all I need to know. Any time I'm in the area I would make it a point to stop by. Called yesterday to see if they were having Fathers Day specials, like on Mothers Day. Yes they were-she told me. Took husband for a Father's Day treat today but was extremely disappointed. Got there just before noon. The girl who opened store was not very friendly. She wouldn't return a smile acting like she didn't want to be there today. She charged full price for the Fathers Day special because "my boss never said anything about it". Told her I called the day before & was told yes & that's why we drove all the way there. No comment. His $4.50 Turtle Sundae was not good, like before on Mothers Day; much smaller than usual & instead of the whole pecans she put on chopped walnuts which made it taste funny. What a letdown. Cathys used to be so much better. I live up here year round & I really can't give the recommendation I used to. read more
