Cute little spot in a cute little town! The husband and I were heading back to Milwaukee after a weekend camping in Upper Michigan. Not far into our drive, we realized we needed some caffeine to get us through. Low and behold, there was Boulder Junction Coffee on main street! This cafe has a cool, rustic atmosphere inside, and there's a few places to sit outdoors as well. It was quite busy when we arrived, but still it only took us a few minutes to get our lattes. They deliciously brew Colectivo coffee into any cafe classic that you'd like. Not into coffee? Go for a matcha or one of their many teas on offer. There's a few bites available too, like breakfast burritos, biscottis, and plenty of fresh Wisconsin cheese. We snagged a homemade muffin for the road! This shop is locally owned and operated, featuring delicious coffee, tea, and Up-North hospitality. Stop in and support local!

Service was great! Atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Drink tasted good but was watered down.

Boulder Junction Coffee was a cute little spot on our trip home. The inside is definitely a very cool vibe and the workers were very friendly. The service was quick and the coffee tastes great! We got a variety of iced lattes, Americanos, and teas and are happy with our orders. 1000% would recommend!!

Great coffee and friendly service. The food is good too. Feels like a nice city coffeeshop despite being in the middle of nowhere.

Matcha was not blended well at all, not too pricey like other places though. Decent enough stop for coffee lovers.

I have always been satisfied with their products and service. Chrlie's has a large variety of top quality cheese to choose from. Their deli sandwiches are made fresh to order with your choice of bread, deli meats, veggies and condiments. They don't skimp on the ingredients either -- their sandwiches make for substantial meal. The grocery department includes both staples and specialty items -- mostly at convenience store prices. Their ice cream is generic but acceptable and the scoops are always generous. For my daughter's wedding rehearsal night picnic we ordered pulled BBQ pork & hot turkey for sandwiches, potato salad, bean salad and a few other items from Charlie's catering kitchen. I'm not a fan of packing catered food to go in apparently reused cardboard ice cream cartons (because I'm not sure exactly how to clean and sanitize them after the ice cream is served) -- but everything tasted fine, all of our guests were satisfied, and I would definitely order from Charlie's catering kitchen again.

The little shop inside has a video that explains the process (flooding the fields, floating the cranberries to the top, collecting them, etc) and you can walk through the bog and check out the berries growing at your leisure. Inside the store it's all cranberries all the time. Cranberry salsa, cranberry jam, dried cranberries (like 8 different kinds!), baked goods, candles, decor with cranberries all over them, etc etc. Lots of samples too, so you can try a few things before you commit to buying them. In particular we really liked the salsa and the plain cranberry jam, so we bought a jar of each of those. And 4 different kinds of the dried cranberries (regular, cherry, orange and mango) which I'm looking forward to snacking on and baking with. Plus, when they're in season, (which they are right now) you can buy fresh cranberries in a variety of sizes (1lb, 5lb, and more!). I picked up a 5lb bag because cranberries freeze really well! Prices are reasonable for the lovely products. Staff person on site the day we were there was really friendly and gave us great recommendations of things to try. A fab place to stop if you're into produce and production, with tasty things to enjoy to boot!

I learned early I didn't give a damn about fishing, and even less about 2 weeks in a primitive fishing camp. Every few days we had to go re-stock supplies (mostly beer for the grownups) and it was a trip to Boulder Junction to do so. I couldn't wait for those trips to get away from the crushing boredom of the camp. Back then, (60's) Boulder Junction was speck of fly-shit on the map of Wisconsin, quaint and gemütlichkeit as it was. In the 21st century, it ain't much bigger, but it sure has grown in vibe. It's now an artsy-crunchy village of shops and places for the well-to-do who have their summer joints in the vicinity to have a cocktail and a bite to eat. The Guides Inn had the highest YELP rating and was close to our Hotel on the night we arrived, so it got the nod. It's a Wisconsin Supper club, dressed a notch up. The gruff fellow at the bar (who was gruff at some other folks, not us) eased up and took care of us admirably, crafting divine Brandy OldFashioneds which balmed the edge off the 400mile+ ride from Chicago. There were a bunch of us, and they could not fit our entire group at one table, so we were in 4-top tribes. Not perfect, but it was OK. There was an amuse-bouche relish tray-haven't seen one of those in a while. Typical of Wisco Supper clubs these days, there were surprises on the menu. In this case Walleye Cheeks. If you've ever been to a fine Spanish/Basque resto, you might have had Kokotxas (Cod Cheeks) which are among the finest Tapas you can get (and an apt delivery system for Garlic, Chilis and Olive Oil). There's a pocket of very tender and tasty meat on the side of certain fishes heads called "cheeks" (it makes sense, n'est ce pas?) and on a Walleye, which is a fine eating fish in any preparation, the "Cheeks" are indeed a delicacy. They were breaded/fried here and totally yum. The onion soup was, as well. My Entree was Beef Wellington (another dish you might not suspect from a Wisco Supper club in the middle of nowhere) and it was top-notch. Accompanied by Wild Rice-There's the Northwoods signature. Wife had a regular Filet Mig which she reported was fine. Service was good, and the decor a step up, like I indicated previously, from a garden-variety Wisco Supper Club. The CHECK, however, was closer to downtown Chicago than the map might suggest. Not the bargain bill you usually find at Supper Clubs, but I'll say the dear prices were commensurate with the bread and circuses. A pleasant evening in a pleasant place...
