Sherman Tx has a good Mexican restaurant. Looks like a converted Johnny Carino's The interior is well appointed and provides an excellent dining atmosphere. Menu is loaded with Tex-Mex favorites. Queso and guacamole appetizers were Tasty. Sampled the quesadilla, enchiladas, relleno's, with rice and beans. Chips and salsa were fresh. Food was excellent and servers friendly and quick. I ordered shrimp fajitas and the shrimp were served tails on. Maybe there's a chef reason but I didn't care for it. The real deal breaker is the excessively loud music. We were seated in bar area and I requested a quieter area of restaurant. We were taken to main dining area. Didn't matter. 5-Stars are hard to earn from me, but this place gets all 5 easily! Pulled into the gas station parking lot to search Yelp for nearby restaurants. We were from out of town and didn't know where to eat. As we looked over at the restaurant we both agreed we should try it-why not?? Walked in and we're greeted warmly seated immediately. We were passed by 3 waitresses on the way to our table with margarita flights.... They looked yummy! So, order one of those and then also a Grand Cuervo Margarita...flaming floater and all! 3.5-ish stars. Was recommended by the hotel front desk. I sat at the bar and was provided complimentary warm chips and salsa. Shortly after the chips and salsa, the food came out. I tried the 3 street tacos: al pastor, shrimp, and brisket. The brisket was based on bartender's recommendation. The shrimp was salty for me, but all tacos had great flavor and were served hot. Salsa verde, cilantro, red onion and lime came in small plastic containers with lids; the cilantro and lime looked dried out. I planned to get sopapillas to go for dessert. I asked the bartender her favorite. She said flan, so I said, "Lets go with that, I'll try the flan." When it was delivered by a runner ~10 mins later, it was sopapillas. They offered to get me flan, but I didn't want to wait any longer. Also, sopapillas in the menu are pictured with ice cream, which I didn't receive. Driving through this town, we decided to stop and have Mexican food. The service was pretty poor. Our server would disappear for 30 minutes at a time even though the place was empty. Drinks were filled only once but she forgot what my husband was drinking. Never refilled our salsa. There was one guy who was cleaning tables that gave us more chips and would try to hunt down our server for us, he was super nice. You could see and hear about 5 servers just laughing and yelling with each other in the middle of the restaurant. The food was just okay. It took us 20 minutes to pay, after she brought us the check. My husband and I ate here for the first time today. The hostess greeted us with a friendly smile and "How's your day going" great attitude as she seated us near the bar. We were quickly waited on and brought chips and salsa. The salsa was a little spicy... I think with black pepper?...but we loved it. My husband ordered the Catrina's Carne Asada and I ordered Brisket Enchiladas. The food came out in a timely manner and was hot and fresh. He loved his meal as I do is mine. I would have like a little more spice on my brisket, but nothing a little salsa couldn't handle. Red beans are a "make it or break it" for me and their's measured up! Don't waste your time or money. I guess because it's off the interstate they think they can charge outrageous prices. The salsa had so much cumin I'm probably going to have it seeping out of my pores tomorrow. The service was questionable. The girl that was sweeping the floors stopped at our table and asked us if we wanted more chips. I thought she was going to tell our server, she leaned the broom against the opposite booth. The broom fell and she picked it up with one hand and had our chip bowl in the other. We questioned if she had her food handlers cert. we ordered the sampler and it was ok. Tortilla soup came out so salty I sent it back. They tried to fix it by watering it down which didn't work but I appreciated the effort. The chicken was so dry it was inedible. I asked if they might be able to adjust it, make it a tiny bit sweeter, or something. They returned and it tasted the same. So, chalk one up for a terrible margarita. I ordered the steak and chicken fajitas. Both were unseasoned, leaving the chicken incredibly bland. The steak at least had the benefit of a taste of beef, but was tough, and chewy. Picture making a taco, and the whole piece of beef comes out with your bite. The beans were ok, but the rice was non-remarkable and mushy. Started with chips and salsa, they were good, and the server did refill my water. Overall, I'd say there's plenty of Mexican food in the texoma area. Give this one a pass. read more

Seconded time here and it was just as good as the first. Seated promptly as we checked in with the hostess. Once we were seated chips and salsa immediately at the table. BTW delicious salsa and they keep it coming through out your meal! The house margarita is my go too and just one gets you right (I'm a light weight). We had fajitas and burritos and they were yummy. We come here often/weekly food is always good tonight wasn't we ordered like always but forgot to say no cheese when the food was brought out I told the server we didn't want any cheese we didn't know it came that way we always order and it never did maybe it was our mistake.
