What a great atmosphere. And the new hygienist (well, new to me), Amy, she was AWESOME. Icing on the cake was that I apparently don't need a root canal like I thought & that even with my dental training & my slight neglect, my teeth/gums are in overall good condition (yay, I can chant at the FCC match tomorrow ). I was told the earliest available appointment was Wednesday at 3pm but that they would call if they had a cancellation and could get me in earlier. They called at 8:15 this morning and said they had an opening at 8:30am - but I was already at work in Lexington and would not have been able to get there in time - so I kept my 3pm appointment. I arrived on time and waited in the waiting room for 30 minutes or so before being called back. They took X-rays and I was sent to a room to wait on the dentist. 15 minutes later he came in and told me I needed an extraction but that he did not have time to do it today. I reiterated that that was the only reason for my appointment - and he said that they do and X-ray and consultation on the first visit. I said that (1) nothing of the sort was mentioned when I made the appointment, nor during my follow up call late yesterday to see if they had any time to squeeze me in, or during the call this morning when they called about the cancellation - and (2) that surely they did extractions for toothache emergency on first visits and they confirmed that yes, they often do - but Dr. Drake said he just didn't have the time today. He sent me on my way - with the same severe toothache that I walked in with and for which I'd scheduled an appointment for more than 24 hours before. They showed absolutely zero compassion nor understanding nor did they seem to care even a little bit.

Crowns fit better than any others we have had in the past. She takes the time to make any injections completely painless. She doesn't push unnecessary treatments (like the dentist we saw in Lexington). Her manner exudes kindness and concern. She is very responsive to emergency situations. I have never had a worse experience with a dentist in my 31 years of life. I came in with a broken filling and they failed to remove all the bad tooth material before replacing the filling which CAUSED ME to need a full root canal and crown after a week of excruciating and unnecessary pain (probably a month after the filling was replaced). And the last thing is how I was treated by the office manager. I have never been treated so terribly by someone in my entire life. When I came in and stood up for myself, refusing to pay anything for them to replace the filling that barely lasted two weeks, this woman practically threatened to not allow them to fix my tooth for free because I was already going to another dentist. AND NOW my new dentist has informed me that the crown placed over my root canal is entirely fitted improperly and needs to be removed and replaced.
