What a wonderful place doing great rescue work for the cats if the area. The food area and the cats are completely separated. There is an $11 entrance fee for adults to play with the cats. While this may seem a bit high, I viewed as a donation to the rescue and to help the cats. There were loads and fully grown and kitten cats. A lot of the cats were quite friendly. The staff was happy to give all of the details on each cat up for adoption. The cafe part serves teas and coffee as well as some sweets. I had the iced mint tea yum and the kitten vegan cookie. Cute concept. We took our kids here in a cold winter day for something "different" to kill some time. Just wish the kitties were a bit more interactive. We went at a very "sleepy" time. They were all asleep or hiding and few were interacting. But we did get to gently pet a few of the closer ones. Tea was plentiful and the chocolate biscuit was yummy. read more

This place is amazing!!! I heard about Catsbury Park through a friend and I immediately knew I just HAD to come and see this place for myself. We made reservations online and came to visit early on a Sunday afternoon. When we arrived, there were already a few other patrons there enjoying some tea and desserts. They currently have 13 cats that are in the petting area and the most amazing part is that they're all up for adoption! While I was there a family actually came in to take one home that was newly adopted. The owner was actually sitting in the lobby and he was nice enough to take some time and tell us a little about Catsbury Park. They tend to "harder to adopt" cats because kittens find homes much quicker than older cats do. The staff was great and just by talking to them you can tell they really care about their cats. The staff feeds them to encourage the little guys to come out and play and they have a bunch toys you can use to play with them too. They even have cat yoga here!!! The cats there were just too darn cute and they all had such cool personalities. While there, we got two pots of tea (which tasted great). We also bought two really cute mugs to take home. Also, just and FYI - They have a lot of metered street parking and then a big paid parking lot just around the corner. And one more thing; they have gender neutral bathrooms here! read more

This helps the cats from crowded shelters get socialization and exposure they need to find their furever homes. Do you want to play with cats? Of course you do. Catsbury Park has a bunch of kitties ready to play and ready to go home with you as well, if you're looking to adopt! I like the design of this cafe - you have an entrance area with tables and the register where you can purchase your admittance and coffee/tea/pastries/etc. Then you go into the room with the cats and have a ball with them. There is a maximum capacity, so they do limit your stay to 30 minutes if there are people waiting to get in. Otherwise, it's free play for as long as you want to stay. There is an employee in the room at all times, ready to answer any questions about the cats they have. A table in the room has profiles on every cat so if you find someone you think you want to take home with you, grab their fact sheet to read up on 1: if they're already adopted/spoken for and 2: get more information on the cat. We had a great time. It can feel crowded when a lot of people are in the narrow room, especially with crazy cats zipping around, playing with their toys. Catsbury Park is the first cat cafe in NJ. You get to interact with the cats in the cat lounge so it is a totally different experience than going to an animal shelter. All the cats here are available for adoption. You can come down, grab a latte and hang out with the cats. How cool is that? You pay for 30 mins to hang with the cats. Weekends the prices are slightly higher, but it's $11 per adult, $9 kids 9-15 and $7 kids 2-8 - weekend prices. This is a 501 (c) charity which makes it a non profit. Just trying to get the cats adopted while they live in a pretty cool place. All the cats are so chill! The cafe has a lovely assortment of baked goods, coffees and teas. Great place if you love coffee and cats (two of my favorite genres). You'll pay a tad more here for comestibles, but they're freshly-baked and, at least in terms of what I had, of high quality. My Americano was as good as what I've had in Italy, and that's saying a lot. The chocolate-chip bar, though quite fresh, was a bit sweet for my tastes (then again, I'm not big on pastry and purchased it mostly to support this wonderful place). The staff were also friendly and easy to talk to, including DJ, the manager. One issue that the staff might consider is when a cat is clearly annoyed by visitors' behavior. Everyone who goes into the cat area is a cat lover, since access requires an $11 donation. Nobody that I saw back there meant any harm. But there was a large gray male there on Sunday who, after choosing his spot on a comfy cat tower, just wanted to sleep. People kept waking him as they tried to pet him, and he took a few swipes as well as some attempted bites. His tail was wagging, which is "cat" for "leave me alone". Now, I know that he was fighting with another cat earlier, but he still deserved his nap time. I would just educate visitors on reading cat body language and knowing when to let a cat be. Aw, this was cute. Super friendly staff and delicate kitties just waiting for treats. Even watching them nap or be their mysterious ninja- like hiders was delightful. I love the play areas they've constructed for the felines. I know it sounds crazy crazy but for this cat lady I'm just delighted to see cats given a chance to play in a fun place. 11.00 per adult for a 30 min session to play with cats and kittens! the place is very clean and has cats everywhere-basically my dream. buy some cat artwork or locally made items, all cat themed! the playroom itself if fairly small and narrow, so thats why they like for you to book online to keep the # of people organized in here. It's fun and an interesting thing to do while in the neighborhood. i think its also good because they allow adoptions and playing with the cats allow them to warm up to people. basically you are helping rescued cats prepare to be around their new parents, kids, and other animals - which is a plus since cats can be a mid bipolar. read more

We went on a Saturday night. While the cafe portion wasn't packed, the cat room had about 8 people inside which felt like too many people to cats. Only two cats were out, the rest were all hiding, which is understandable because of the amount of people in and out. While we were waiting we got hot chocolate. It came out cold...I asked them to remake it, thinking it had sat before it was served. Round two I watched them make it, barely any milk with some hot water and chocolate syrup. Took my four year old. She and I both love cats and can't have one since my husband is super allergic. All around what I expected- cats are cats! They will never be dogs and engage on demand. However, they were plenty that were super playful and fun to pet. I do think some of the volunteers need to take a class in how to deal with children. You run basically a cat zoo and kids are part of the demographic. The Australian lady was particularly rude and grabbed a toy from my daughter's hand. To me, unacceptable behavior for an ADULT! Honestly, I'm not a cat person, I'm more of a dog person. However, I thought maybe I'll have a change of heart. Coming here helped me achieve that change. Some of the cats were so cute and sweet. Had the pleasure of visiting Catsbury today with my sister. We are both cat people and could not believe how amazing this place is. The attention to details in the cafe area as well as the cat area were just perfect. The staff, cat volunteers, cats, empanadas and tea made for a great afternoon. Catsbury Park stole my cat. I have an outdoor cat and my neighbor called them. Although the website says they don't pick up cats clearly thats incorrect. After learning they had my cat and spoke to the owner (DJ) he was rude and he held my cat hostage for another 24 hours. When he finally dropped off the cat to me my cat had clearly lost weight and was very distressed and anxious. No apology was made for the "mistake". I had been very upset worrying about my cat since she had been missing for 7 days. I think Catsbury is a good idea it's just not what they advertise and clearly not run by people who truly care about animals. read more

Employees had very poor attitude, ushering me out the door like I did not belong in their establishment. Ordered a gluten free chocolate chip cooking (subpar) and hot chocolate. I watched her make my drink - she added chocolate sauce, whole milk and hot water. She tried to pass that off as authentic hot chocolate. Worst hot chocolate I've ever had in my life. McDonalds serves a better hot chocolate. Was also considering adopting a cat, but after being treated like a second class citizen I don't think I will be returning, let alone recommending anyone to visit the Catsbury Park Cafe. Their employee "amy" posted a photo of her on Instagram of her smoking outside of the cafe with a caption complaining about children being inside of the building at the time. Like what? Lol. Don't work around animals if you don't wanna be annoyed with whom they attract. And why would we wanna be served food and drinks by someone who portrays them SMOKING outside of the establishment? yikes. Also the catsbury park Instagram page has posted multiple times photos of their cats sitting on the cafe tables and counter tops..pretty sure that's a health code violation. Even if you clean the surfaces after, they don't show them doing so...not sure I wanna eat food from smoky hands on a poopy covered table!!! I do love cats though more than anything. This is our second cat cafe we've ever visited and was pleasantly surprised by the size of the establishment. We had a lot of fun and here are some observations from our visit: 1- the girl at the front counter was not very nice. She didn't seem too enthusiastic about us coming to the counter and not knowing the check in policy. Sorry, we don't work there everyday like you do. On the plus side, she did let us in 10 minutes earlier than our appointment, so we had 40 minutes. 2- the price for each half hour is expensive when compared to other cat cafes. But hey, gotta buy the gentrification tax. 3- the volunteers were AWESOME. so friendly and made the cat experience that much more enjoyable! 4- the cats obviously were adorable and seemed like they were in a good place. Some of the cats had really long nails, so be wary. Overall, 4/5 stars solely on the lackluster greeting. We had a ton of fun playing with the cats and am glad Catsbury park has a great mission and has helped so many cats get adopted. read more

Visited Catsbury with my sister today, this place is amazing! What a wonderful well designed concept paired with loving intention. We had a great visit, made to feel comfortable and welcome by all Catsbury staff and kitties. I have to say all the comments about the hot chocolate were really bizarre, and totally miss the whole point of this place. The hot chocolate was the worse I've ever had!!!!! I was in town visiting from Florida - in the coldest temperatures this winter- looking for a simple hot chocolate , the girl asked which milk I wanted, so I asked for whole milk . One sip and I knew it was all warm water with a splash of milk ... not enough cocoa and slightly sweet ! My kids all said yuk what is this?!! I returned to the shop ( surely this was a mistake) the girl confirmed oh no its made with water... without any apologies or regrets!! One of the cats attacked me! Literary walked into the cat room where I spent $10 to get into and a cat claws me right in the face. It also spelled like cat poop and the women working was extremely rude. I tried to speak to her about ordering and she completely blew me off. We had a wonderful time. The cashier/hostess was lovely. She was very sweet. The reason for the 2 star rating is due to the volunteer in the yellow shirt. We had our daughter with us and the volunteer chose to discipline our daughter at every turn. She, the volunteer, would take cat toys out of her hand and blatantly scowl at her. As someone who loves cats and coffee, this place seemed like a dream for me. I was so excited to go here as I had heard of places like these, yet had never been. I think overall it's a good experience, but more so for a one time thing, not as a regular place to go. The coffee was average, but too expensive for how good it was. Watching the cats through the windows seemed more enjoyable than being in the actual room with the cats. For a weekday it was $9 a person to go into the room and I do not think it was worth $9. As I said, it's definitely a one time experience kind of place. The cats were not very personable and seemed to be kind of fearful of people. I think you could find better cats to play with at an animal shelter. I think my review would be higher if the cats were more sociable as that's the main reason I had gone. read more

Everything was fine but most of the cats besides 4 seemed very annoyed and tired, a lot of costumers kept trying to get at the cats and did not respect their space. To the employees; it would be helpful to put a sign or paper with how a cat's body language works so customers can learn more about the cats & help the cats not look so stressed/ be so stressed, or at least sit in the back area too to monitor the costumers & cats.
