Me and my puppy had cabin fever so we took a drive down the parkway. He was being extra sweet in the car so on a whim I looked up local pet stores. This one even had a dog park so I was hyped! Unfortch the park was being used for training when we were there so we went inside to shop. They have EVERYTHING! I thought we owned every Benebone under the sun but they had shapes I hadn't seen before. My puppy walked the aisles picking out bully sticks and I also picked up some new treats for him as well. He got a little...ahem vocal at the register so we had to hurry up and get out of there. But the owners still gifted us their own handmade jerky sticks to try and thanked us for our business. Small business pet shops are so underrated! If I'm ever in the area again, I'll be sure to stop in! read more

Melinda, the store manager spent a lot of time with us, recommended a couple of food options, and gave us much general knowledge. She spent time explaining and guiding us to make choices best for our dog. She was very helpful and made us and our puppy feel welcome and well taken care of. Great prices on dog food, will never go to chain pet stores again. Friendly and informative staff helped us pick our bones and treats for our dog. Angela one of their staff members was so helpful with finding a harness for our dog she even tried them on him for us! Over priced. Same exact items cheaper pretty much everywhere else. The "special food" for dogs and cats is horrible. Dogs dont like the food. My cats wouldn't eat the food all day. So I put it out for the outside strays and they wont even it. Two full trays have been out there for two weeks untouched, and they're starving! They say they guarentee the food, but when I called to return they said they need the bag. Bull. Need the bag for what? Are they going to reseal it and sell it? They're just cheap and provide poor customer service. Wont be back there ever again! Maybe good for farm animal owners but dont call yourself "the hungry puppy" then. Actually, maybe that's a perfect name, because your puppy will be hungry because he wont eat the food! *********************UPDATE************************* So, because of my negative review, now the owner wants to refund me. Could have done that on the phone when I called originally. So, if I didn't let the public know what happened, they wouldn't have refunded me. What an insult. They don't care about what happened or me, they just want to look good and for me to remove my negative review...NOPE! Wonder how many times this happened before to other customers who sold out for a refund and they then removed their negative review. So they make their customers jump through hoops and bad mouth them publicly instead of just doing the right thing to begin with. great great great prices on dog food. i get the good stuff, natural balance original ultra, and they have the best prices around, local or online. the best part is they deliver locally for free! this a very cute, gem of a place. they don't carry everything, and a lot of their other prices can be beat online or at your other larger pet stores, but i keep coming back for the dog food. if you go there to buy your dog food, the lovely staff bring it to your car, and they keep a record of you so after you buy a certain number, you get a bag free. unfortunately, this doesn't count with the bags you get delivered. oh well. read more

Typically I have been happy enough with Hungry Puppy until I made a recent purchase of Taste of the Wild Dog Food. I have two dogs and they have eaten this in the past, I have bought it at other times from the Hungry Puppy. This time however both my dogs just sniffed, nibbled a bit and walked away. At first I attributed it to their being upset; they were being cared for by others while we were away. When I returned I was surprised that they still would not eat this food. When I called Hungry Puppy to see if I had any recourse with this purchase , I was told that since I had discarded the original bag (I keep our dog food in a storage bin) they would not be able to give me credit for the purchase. I am disappointed ..it was ~$60.00. purchase that cannot be used. I guess the lesson is to always keep your bags. read more

Yes our name is in a computer, yes they claim to know how many bags are on file. I don't want to hear it's my responsibility to keep receipts when they claim to be keeping track. Big fan of the Hungry Puppy until today. They have so many great options with dog treats and I've used them for many years with more than one dog but today I was so disappointed. I called the store today to check the price of dog food before making a trip there on my lunch hour. The price quoted me over the phone was not what I was charged. When I asked about it they said they wouldn't honor the price and even asked me did I ask for the price of the correct food. Do you really think I would ask for pricing on something my dog doesn't eat..really. Petco had the same food on sales for less.
