My husband, myself, and our our mini Australian Shepherd puppy, Atlas, have just finished a Basic…read moreObedience class with Kindred Souls, run by Pete, after going through puppy kindergarten here as well. I name all of three of us as finishing this class because at Kindred Souls, the owners take part in their dog's training. Previously, we brought our French Bulldog, Harlow, to basic obedience classes at Kindred Souls nearly seven years ago; and we knew as soon as we got a new pup, Kindred Souls would be our first stop. Pete is truly incredible at his job and has such an understanding of all types dogs. We truly appreciate how he puts the responsibility on the owners and his program is set up to set the owners and dogs up for success- as long as you listen to what Pete is teaching you. We've watched dogs that were timid and recently rescued come out of their shell and complete the training program like a whole new dog! Pete will not let you take shortcuts, which is what you want from a trainer, in my opinion. There's also weekly homework's provided in basic obedience, which are really helpful in making sure those in class stay on top of what they learn in class each week. Pete's also always available to his clients, which is so beyond appreciated, & helps showcase his true consideration for your pup. Pros: Pete is SO knowledgeable of all dog breeds and personalities and K.S. offers a variety of classes Our dog, Atlas, cannot run into Pete's classes fast enough! We're looking forward continuing classes with Pete and learning even more!

I just completed the seven week basic obedience course with my 8 month-old hound mix, and could not be more pleased with the results. Pete is clear and direct in his feedback, which I really appreciate. Each week's homework is laid out, and Pete constantly reiterates that he is a phone call away if you encounter any speed bumps or need clarification between classes. I was also grateful for the flexibility of being able to drop into class on an alternate evening if I hit a scheduling snag. My pup and I are about to move on to the eight week therapy dog course, and I am confident that we have the foundation necessary to be successful. All-in-all I highly recommend Kindred Souls Canine Center.

I'm a…read more21-year-old college nursing student with a flexible schedule and extensive experience with dogs. I've cared for my 10-year-old rescued Jack Russell full-time, and I've been planning to adopt a second dog for over a year. Unfortunately, this shelter treated me with outright disrespect and completely dismissed me as a serious adopter. Now, I fully understand why so many people choose breeders instead of dealing with shelters like this one. I arrived at 11 a.m., waited an hour for them to open, and came fully prepared with supplies in case the puppy came home with me. But instead of allowing me to even see the puppy, the staff sat me down for an invasive, condescending interview. The woman who spoke to me treated me like I was a child or completely incapable of owning a dog, despite my obvious qualifications. I'm a dog trainer, CPR-certified, and regularly foster and babysit dogs. I clearly explained that I live independently during the school year with my current dog, but she insisted that I needed my mom's permission to proceed because she owns the home where I'd be staying over the holidays. When I explained that my mom couldn't answer the phone because she was working (and that my mom isn't involved with my current dog due to allergies), the woman implied that I was hiding something. She even made rude remarks like, "Does your mom even know you're here?" as if I'm not a grown adult making my own decisions. I also told her my dad fully supported the adoption, but because he was out of town for work, his approval didn't count. It was insulting, disrespectful, and downright infuriating. I was completely prepared to provide a loving, stable home for this puppy, but instead, I was judged, dismissed, and treated like I wasn't good enough--without ever being allowed to see the dog. To top it off, they acted like I didn't know what I was getting into, even though I've cared for a Jack Russell for 10 years and know exactly what their needs are. This whole experience has left me furious and heartbroken. I've waited to adopt instead of buying a dog because I wanted to do the right thing, but now I understand why people turn to breeders. MSPCA lost out on an amazing, responsible owner who was more than ready to give this puppy a great life. To anyone thinking of adopting from this place: don't waste your time. They'll treat you like you're not good enough, no matter how qualified you are. I will be adding pictures of my current dog to show how loved and spoiled he is--and now I'll be reaching out to breeders. MSPCA should be ashamed of how they treat potential adopters. Shelters should encourage adoption, not make people feel disrespected and pushed away.

One of the adults had been in another organization we all know and they were going to put this cute baby down for space I guess. Anyway Francesca took him in and he's been mine for all these years. i couldn't ask for a more lovable sweet cat. The kitten I adopted from her was found by someone on the side of the road. This person tried several shelters who said no. The kitten was in bad shape, starving, dehydrated and infected eyes but Francesca took him in. He got all the proper vet care but sadly he lost one eye and has impaired vision in the other. I donated to his care and fell in love so wound up adopting him. That was 9 years ago and he's a great cat who gets around fine. He plays with my other cats or annoys them lol and maneuvers the house just like a cat who could see. My third cat from her is a gorgeous long hair black beauty that somebody either didn't want or couldn't keep. He is another total mush who loves to be petted and loved. Fourth cat is from the SPCA about 11 years ago. She's a sweet long hair calico, my only female. I can't say anything bad or negative about All Fur Love and I donate food and funds to help them out. Every dime and can of food goes to the animals. It's probably one of the few most honest organizations out there and I used to work for the SPCA up north many years ago. Go to All Fur Love Facebook just to see what she's involved with now and tell me how many places would do what Francesca is doing.

They said I had to come in for them to tell me how much the dog would cost because they have to call the breeder and this and that. RIDICULOUS. First red flag: no prices posted anywhere! In order to get a price, you have to approach one of the "knowledgeable" associates who would place you in the play area with the puppy and say she needs to "scan" them and contact the breeder directly. This can only be accomplished by having you fill out the entire application giving all of your personal information, a process that took nearly A FULL HOUR when dealing with a certain sales associate we will call Associate "Mel." After waiting all that time, "Mel" came back in to give us all of the paperwork associated with the puppy and tell us all of the benefits of purchasing from their establishment. When she handed up the paperwork and we saw the grand total of $8000, we almost broke down laughing on the spot! Let me tell you something about my girlfriend, she knows her stuff. She has purchased, adopted and rescued many different breeds of dogs and does plenty of research on what a particular breed of puppy is worth. It is a very difficult feat to pull one over on her. After expressing out disgust at this price (we know for a fact that a pure bred Frenchie goes for around $3600) "Mel" said she had plenty of options for us and she would go in the back to call her "associates" to see what she could do for us as the puppy was obvisously a great match for us! Long story short, and about 3 back and forth price negotiations beween "Mel" and "The Big Dog," and about 2 hours later, we were appalled by the fact that we were able to get her from $8000 all the way down to $3800 by some miracle of modern negotiations... Honestly, I felt dirty after this. This wasn't a used Kia we were shopping for, it was a living puppy. Any other store would post the prices either online or with the puppy in the cage. It sucked, but we had to leave that sweet little Frenchie at the store. We would have paid $3600 if that was the price presented to us from the beginning as we know this to be a fair price. To add even more insult to injury, "Mel" called my girlfriend the next day to say that she had great news and they were able to get the price all the way down to $3500, something they never saw happen before! We declined and that was the last we heard from them. This store needs to be shut down. I wish there was an option to give ZERO stars as one is way too generous....
