I'm not very pleased with the service I get from them. I've had two experiences now that has been horrible. Being the only place around I've had no choice after the 1st time to go back, but I wouldn't have personally. And after this time I will drive before I do again. I had my pool closed by them and all my pipes froze that winter. Had to replace them. Then I ordered a piece I needed and waited 3 weeks to get it. First it was shipping which is understandable but then it was had to wait for a warehouse somewhere that has it or something, then no call back to say it ever arrived. Called multiple times and it was something each time. Then I call 3 weeks after the initial order and they say yes it's in...and no one calls me to tell me after all this until I call you??! So it's almost July and I haven't opened our pool all bc of this piece and waiting, while it sits there and no one calls to tell me. I could've drove or just figured out how to order it myself for that service. read more

This place is a scam. We paid $350 to have our pool cleaned and all they did was vacuum the pool and say our pool's skimmer was broken. They didn't tell us how we could fix it or anything. After they "cleaned the pool" it was still green, and full of moss and dirt. It was the biggest waste of money ever and we could have probably had the pool cleaned so much better by another place. If you are considering using the services of Cavanaugh Pools in Madisonville, KY, you may want to read this. We had a mountain lake pool put in 30 years ago by Mr. Dugger, father/ grandfather to the current owners. The name and ownership changed even though it is still run by the same family and in the same premises. For 30 years, I have patronized their business and have changed my pool liner three times thus far. Their service was always just acceptable as is customary for any business in a small town that doesn't have competition. The last time we put in a liner was in 2018. I specifically requested that they do not install it when I was not in town, and they did exactly that. When I returned home, I noticed a deep crease in the deep end of the pool, while the water was still filling up. I brought this to their attention and was told it would straighten out when the water was full. It never did. It just was not installed correctly. The next year in 2019, when we opened the pool, the whole liner was floating as it had come off the edges. I immediately called the company, and they contacted the liner manufacturer and had them provide them a replacement liner. I honestly did not think it was a manufacturing defect, but an installation defect, because even when they installed it, it had a deep crease to start with. I again told them not to install it when I was not present in the house and again they installed it when I was out of town. ( I am out of town frequently). This time, they had already filled up the pool with water. The first thing I noticed upon arrival was that it already had a wrinkle, this time in the middle of the pool at the widest point. I called them immediately and was told that the small wrinkle will straighten itself out with a little bit of time due to the weight of the water. Well, with time, the wrinkle got worse and continued to get progressively worse, and then it started forming a deep fold in the walls and later on the floor of the pool. Eventually it started pulling off from the track. (this was throughout 2019, 2020 and 2021). Every time I walked into the store, I talked about the liner getting worse. First, they assured me it will settle in place. When it did not, and I walked into the store, the owner (Chris) was never in, and I could only leave messages for him, which obviously were never acknowledged. Things were on hold in early 2020 because of the virus. When I actually got to talk to him about it a few months later, Chris was starting to change his tone. Now the liner could've developed wrinkles "due to any number of things, It could be water chemistry, or incorrect use" . How anyone would use the pool incorrectly is unclear, but it certainly doesn't apply to us, because our pool is just for looks, not for actual swimming as we do not know how to swim. As far as water chemistry, even if the water was causing the liner to weaken, it would be throughout the whole liner. It will not cause the liner to pull out of the track. And they are the ones who run the water sample test and suggest the right chemicals to add! As the creases in the liner progressively got worse, I made frequent visits to the store to complain about the liner. As my visits became frequent, when I entered the store, Chris, who would be working at the cash register/main counter, would suddenly vanish from the counter and I would have to leave messages with the front desk's temporary helpers. It was clear that he was avoiding me. ( I have a doctorate in clinical psychology and am trained to spot and analyze behavior patterns). Because of this avoidance and because I was not sure if my messages were being relayed or not, I wrote a formal letter Summer 2021) stating the facts that I have been reporting this matter from the time the liner was reinstalled in 2019 and handed to the front desk people in person. I told them that I am going to list my house for sale, and they have to take care of the liner because I do not want that to be an impediment to the sale. As a result of my letter, they sent one of the owners ( Jeremy) to look at the pool (Fall 2021). He said he came to take some photographs but because the water was not clear, he had to come back. ( It had yellow algae, which was not identified by them through their own water tests, even though I was following all their recommendations.) Only when Jeremy came in person he said it was yellow algae (which apparently doesn't show in a water test). After we treated the algae, and after some delays, Jeremy showed up to take pictures. I asked him what they intended to do. He said he was going to contact the manufacturer to see if they will provide another liner. I told them at that time that it was not a manufacturer's defect but it was an installation error and it was installation error even when they installed it in 2018. My family went to see them to talk to them about putting in fiberglass pool, hot tub and outdoor kitchen. When we came up that day to talk to them we also bought $250 of chemicals for a hot tub at our rental. Since that day they have never once contacted us about an estimate. I have called 3 different times asking for an update on status and all Chris says is he turned it over to his brother and he will get with him. I have never had to beg to get someone to do a job and don't plan to start now. If this is a preview of things to come, then customer service will be terrible. My family is planning to go with another company now and Cavanaugh's just lost out on a $100,000 job! They are friendly when you go there but be cautious of poor customer service!!!
