It's connected to a bowling alley (literally connected), but we spent our time in the skating rink and didn't journey to the bowling alley part of the building. The rink is in serious need of updating. If you are thinking this is going to be bad, you are wrong. Roller Derby fans and participants are very much into the sport and they put on a great show. There is even a designated person walking around willing to explain what the heck is going on :-) The Roller Derby itself was fun to watch, exciting at times, and once we understood the rules, like watching any other sporting event. The rest of the experience outside of the actual roller derby sport was unique and enjoyable. Raffle tickets were sold, there was an intermission show (fencing), pamphlets were passed around for a non-profit, and there are souvenirs and food for sale. Everyone should go to Roller Derby at least once in their life. I absolutely recommend giving this a try.

The kids were excited all day to go, and had picked out their derby names before we left. Once we got there, parking was overflowing into KMart across the street from the SkatePlex in Tampa. After getting tix, getting in, and setting up our seats (good idea to bring fold up chairs), we were right on time for the action. The first bout was very entertaining, both travel teams were excellent. In the end Tampa Bay pulled ahead, mostly due to excellent speed and agility by Jammer Barbie Bont. The kids stuffed themselves with junk food, got their hair painted, and bought t-shirts between the 2 bouts. I had a couple of beers to get into the mood of the event, PBR being a sponsor of the TBDD. The second bout started off a bit slower, with lots of tactics and few chances being taken. In the end, the Mafia won by only 2 points. A tremendous bout. We are all excited to go to the next event on September 10th. You should really make it a point to go!

There are also standard swings with a wood chip grounding below. It is my understanding that you can rent the field out for your personal purposes. The times I have been in the early morning hours I have only seen people utilizing the field to play American football on Saturday mornings. We like to take our daughter here in the early mornings because of the no nonsense/no dirt base of the playground area. As wet mornings happen often I do not prefer to go to playgrounds which get muddy and dirty. We will continue to visit!

There's also a tiny playground with very limited equipment, some swings, a basketball court that's in pretty rough shape, and not much else. There are dog poop bags so I assume the area is dog friendly.. The park backs onto some of the newer condo / apartment developments and a lil residential area behind the strip malls and strip clubs lining Dale Mabry and the fancier sports of Boy Scout / Columbus. The parks department is here a LOT mowing the football field. But the grass around the field tends to be pretty high and weedy. It's a nice greenspace. Grasdy dirt road parking. There is a Baptist Church next to the park and a canal behind the church. Some wildflower and lily pad viewing possible. You can walk to AC Hotel, Miller Ale House, Texas De Brazil, Del Friscos, Renees Cafe, and Kona Grill from here via a grassy cut through on the north side of the park past the church. I see meeting for a rezoning are scheduled in 2019 so something seems to be in store for the park.. We shall see.

The nightly functional fitness classes at the Fire Base ( that's what they call their location) are great workouts... But what I love is that they push you but without sacrificing technique. There is a strong emphasis on proper form and technique. I believe I spent 3 months practicing how to do a proper squat. The trainers will scale workouts for those with limitations, but don't be fooled, they will deliver a butt kicking work out every time! I played sports growing up but have never been as fit as I am now, not in my entire life. Though I incorporate other workouts into my weekly routine, muscle and core strength are huge in achieving fitness goals and overall health. The classes encourage heavy lifting without sacrificing form to prevent injury. I tell people it's CrossFit Concepts without a CrossFit mentality, and the gym is not intimidating, the way a CrossFit gym might be. Especially for people just starting their fitness adventure, this is a great place with a very encouraging atmosphere and teamwork mindset. All the trainers are very nice and knowledgeable and the members all very friendly as well! Other events that have been hosted by team RWB: Monthly Eagle Lunch Monthly Eagle social Old Glory Relay March Madness Bracket Challenge _ free entry and I actually won an Xbox Weekly Run Meet Ups And so many other events you will have to check out their Facebook page for more info. Teaming up with other gyms for free workout classes Every Sunday @ 12pm Free Yoga at Bella Prana I highly recommend checking out team RWB and adding functional fitness to your workout routine. The event was originally called the Hall of Fame Bowl from 1986 to 1994 until being renamed in 1995 after its new title sponsor, Outback Steakhouse. The Outback bowl has signed agreements with the Southeastern Conference and the Big Ten Conference, creating an annual inter-sectional matchup that has continued ever since. In 1999, the Outback Bowl moved from Tampa Stadium into Raymond James Stadium. I've had the pleasure of attending the 5 appearances of the Florida Gators in the Outback Bowl with 3 wins & 2 losses. In 2003, the Florida Gators played Michigan. In 2004, 2006, & 2017, the Florida Gators played Iowa. In 2011, the Florida Gators played Penn State. So far, the SEC is the most winning conference in the Outback Bowl with 18 wins out of 31 appearances while the Big Ten has only 13 wins out of 32 appearances. The biggest perk for the players is that the Outback Bowl awards winning team players really nice rings with their team logos and diamonds, similar to the national championship rings! The Outback Bowl Schedule: December 26th - TEAM ARRIVALS December 27th - PLAYERS NIGHT AT SPLITSVILLE (Teams only) December 28th - OUTBACK BOWL SPOUSES LUNCHEON at the Centre Club (Invitation Only) December 29th - BUSCH GARDENS TEAM OUTING December 30th - CLEARWATER BEACH DAY includes live music, skydivers, a tug-of-war and other contests from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. December 30th - RxBENEFITS GRIDIRON GALA at the Marriott Water Street Hotel in downtown Tampa December 31st - BATTLE OF THE BANDS AT BUSCH GARDENS December 31st - NEW YEAR'S EVE PARADE featuring floats and marching bands including the two college bands January 1st - PREGAME BOWL BASH starting at 9:00 AM with live music on stage, entertainers, interactive games and appearances by the college bands & cheerleaders I really enjoyed the Outback bowl's beach bash event with its beautiful sand art, tug of war, cheerleaders, and music by the bands! I also enjoyed the Outback Bowl's Battle of the Bands at Busch Gardens! I have not yet been to the Outback Bowl New Years Eve Parade in Ybor City. I'm so happy to have witnessed the Gators play so close to home in bowl games at the Outback Bowl! In addition to being entertaining, the Outback Bowl has contributed millions to universities, brought millions in economic impact to Tampa, and has benefitted many local charities. If your team makes it to the Outback Bowl, I definitely recommend visiting Tampa to see your team play! It will give you an opportunity to explore all that Tampa Bay has to offer including Clearwater Beach at the beach bash, Busch Gardens for battle of the bands, Ybor City for the New Years Eve Parade, Downtown Tampa for the Gridiron Gala, and the Raymond James Stadium for the game!

This is definitely more of a community than a gym…read more I signed up for a membership at the JCC North and we get four free passes a month to go to this JCC. I really wish it was closer, because I looked at the schedule of exercise classes and wow there are a lot. They are at all hours and all different types. It's phenomenal. The day I went there was some sort of coffee happy hour happening with coffee and food. It really looks like they're trying to build a community here, which is great. The woman working the front desk was so friendly. They have locker rooms that have keypads on the locks, which made them really easy to use. The towels are great and they have blow dryers, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, the standard stuff. At 5:30 p.m. on a Monday it wasn't crowded at all. The gym is on the smaller side, it wraps around the indoor track/basketball court, but for the amount of people there it doesn't seem small at all. I walked on a treadmill and used the free weights. I passed by the cafe, which had a small but mighty looking menu. I would definitely stop by and grab a bite here. I've also attended a gala and a conference here before and I found them both well done. There's tons of parking, with a guard (only one entrance off of Howard).

Additionally, if you want to hear lots of private conversations via mobile phone, you will have the opportunity to listen to rude members of this community center talk on their phones in the gym. Even though there are signs everywhere, asking members not to conduct private phone conversations on their mobile device. It is very frustrating that I pay for a membership when I cannot use the facilities due to rude people sitting on workout machines or benches while they surf the Internet on their phones or have phone conversations while not using the machines they are sitting on, preventing other members from being able to use the weightlifting machines. Additionally, the staff of the community center does nothing to prevent this from happening.
