Still my go-to screen company after 8 years!…read more Since I'm off for the summer, I've had time to look around the house to find areas that need fixing. One of those areas are our window screens. Not sure if it's just aging of the house or if our cats scratched the screen but we had so many screens with rips and tears. Check out what a bird did to our window bathroom screen too (see video). Contacted J&J and was able to set up an in-home visit with Jason. We were able to walk around the house and figure out which screens could use some repair or replacement. For some of our windows, we opted to get screens with a sun shade. The screen seems to be thicker and blocks a lot of the sun that comes through those windows. On our follow-up install appointment, Jason (owner) showed up right on time and put in all of our screens promptly and professionally. Glad we now have screens in our windows that aren't such an eyesore. Will definitely hit up J&J in the future if we need more screens replaced! They have an easy drop-off process if you have frames that need re-screening. Happy we have an efficient company like this so close by!

The first couple places I found listed on Yelp weren't available until the following week at the earliest, which left me with a big old hole in my house for a week plus (not good). Their starting quotes also seemed high. I called Capital Glass and Construction and Grant came out that same morning to measure and place the order, and his quote was lowest of all. He explained how the repair and clean up would be done. Grant came back a couple days later with replacement glass and finished the job and cleaned up in about an hour. I was impressed. Hopefully i won't need them again but they'll be my first call if I do. Good local business. Strongly recommend.

However, as we discussed installation, he insisted that no ceiling brace would be needed when the weight-bearing wall was removed, and that " a couple of two by fours" was an acceptable alternative to the standard 4 by 10 inch header. When we insisted that both a temporary brace and header were essential, his bid increased by about 50%. Grant also told us that the only window manufacturer he used could NOT make a window with the coating we desired. He refused to even call and ask them, so we did, finding they were more than happy to meet our request, at no additional cost. We were relieved to have someone else do the install. BEWARE.
