Its a large open space with a beautiful bronze of Ernest Hemmingway in a central commanding spot in front of the bar with a wall mural depicting the " Old Man And The Sea" as a backdrop which seemed fitting in his honor & set the stage for fun. Floor to ceiling bookshelves are placed strategically throughout the room to give it that cozy library , artsy writer vibe. It was fairly crowded, our particular bartender was rather brusque and neither helpful or that friendly. Because you can't actually see the cocktail menu until you actually make it up to the bar it's hard to know what you want and they want you to order quickly. Anyway, my husband, of course, had to have a traditional daiquiri , which was premade, not chilled and frankly boring and way too sweet. I on the other hand, tried an old-fashioned and it was delicious. Next we sampled a flight of the Papa Pillar distillery Rums , and a couple of them were absolutely delicious. then we moved on.... Quick tip, I guess try to look at their menu online so that by the time you make it up to the bar, you know exactly what you want. And don't order the premade daiquiri It's un impressive.

We walked in and ended up hanging out with a group of locals who worked around the Key West area. Everyone was incredibly friendly, gave us awesome beer recommendation...all of which were fantastic...and then started sharing insider tips on dinner spots and some of the best-kept secrets in the Keys. It felt less like stopping at a brewery and more like getting welcomed into the community. The beer itself was outstanding with plenty of variety, and we'll definitely be back tomorrow...not just for more recommendations, but because the beer was genuinely that good. The place has free arcade games to play, a million board games, card games and toys to play with while exploring a bunch of unusual craft beers. As locals we had no idea this place existed before Sunday but we will definitely be coming back. They don't sell food but have a great delivery deal with Duettos if you are hungry. They have a full calendar of events posted on the door that we plan to give a try too. If you are looking for something different to try, stop in at Retro Room and tell Tommy the gang from Sugarloaf sent you!
