They told me it was either the head gaskets or pistons. I was looking at 1000s of dollars worth of work. I was devasted and couldn't keep dumping money into the vehicle. Ended up selling it for next to nothing cause I didn't even know what else to do with it. It was taken to another mechanic and found out all it needed was new spark plugs. Couple hundred dollars and it was good to go. A misdiagnosis like that is huge. Had I given them the go, they were prepared to tear apart my engine and charge me out the wazoo to fix things that didn't need fixed. So now I'm left feeling like a complete idiot and no longer have a car. I'm not saying don't go to them, but if you do know exactly what's wrong before going and get a second opinion before letting them do any major work.
